modding and modding support are different things, there are mods that hack the main exe to work. pretty sure there will be things be modded in da:i too (its even the case now)

I'm rooting for them. At the moment, it seems to be limited to swapping models out or recoloring your PJs.

I still don't understand why they wouldn't run with it. Can you imagine how great Mass Effect would have been with a toolkit?

Honestly could you imagine Skyrim without mods? That game became a classic that people will remember their entire lives NOT for the story or the system but BECAUSE you could do with it as you pleased through mods.
My first RPG was FFIV or FFII at the time for SNES. I 100% completed it without the use of google or a strategy guide. I even got the pink tail/adamant item and the spoon throwing knife. My second third and fourth playthrough I used a gameshark and modded the hell out of it and put characters on my crew you weren't supposed to have and it was awesome. To this day it is my all time favorite. Had I not been able to do that I don't know if it would still be my top game

I can imagine Skyrim without mods. It is the one the deveopers released and let the community fix all the bugs for the PC. it is the one that took a year to fix for the PS3 users. It is the one released with more game and quest breaking bugs where the community let the developers off the hook by fixing them which is what Bethedsa has been doing since Morrowind.

I no problem with mods that add content. I have serious problems with mods that do the developers work for them.

I have no problem with exploits, but if a critical bug fix fixes that exploit at the same time I have no problem with the fix. As I stated before we do not know if this exploit fix was because of a more crucial fix of a bug elsewhere in the program.

i think to make a game modable is an extra effort. there would be absolute no reason for any singleplayer game to have not mod support beside this.

oh the exeption are multiplayer games, frostbyte was designed for a pvp shooter and every possibility to alter the game would have brought troubles (wallhacks etc) so maybe thats the reason frostbyte is mod unfriendly

DA:I development started as a multiplayer game.  Likely - one of the reasons MOD support isn't included.

Here's hoping that DA4 is single-player only and is RELEASED with mod support.  I predict, it would be the best selling DA game in history.

I can't state that as fact but do you really believe selling all and selling 1 at the same time is connected with the bugs outlined in the fixes? I don't see how that would be possible

yea, i could go on and on about how loot system in this game is kind of messed up. Might not really affect if you play one time, but it will get frustrating very quickly.

Even if it doesn't affect it, constant grinding after the first completionist run is boring as hell. Maybe some people love grinding, but surely even they can understand some do not.

I wonder how many people in the "exploits are bad newz" camp used a cheat engine or gibbed in ME2 so they wouldn't have to scan those damn planets for the hundredth time. Maybe some find that monotony fun, I find it as fun as getting my teeth cleaned.

So in essense, the exploits can add replayabilty to some. Why would and/or should anyone else care?

I use to work in the software industry as a programmer and systems analyst. You would be surprised at how many times I fixed one bug only to find out I also fix several others at the same time.

But the quest bugs outlined had to do with trigger points
The influence and loot exploit had to do with reselling items a specific way, technically it wasn't even a bug, just game mechanics.

LOL so now you have to leave one item in a chest that had gold and keep popping in and out of the area to get it to refill and that's a big deal? Or did you not know that if you don't empty a chest, it refills when you leave then return to the region. Yeah that means a lot of chests can give you unlimited copies of whatever is in them.

I agree, it's a VERY bad idea to remove this glitch. Very bad indeed.

This results in a huge amount of players not playing the game over and over again. This is a fact.

The first time you play the game it's ok with limitations. But when you have played the game to or three times you REALLY don't wanna go through all the annoying collecting once more.

The game should have been named 'Collector - Dragon Age Edition' instead.

Right now I have to install a copy of the game, then copy the game files needed to the old game folder continue + while in offline mode.

Bioware, you make it so strict it's not worth to continue playing the game. It's rediculous having to get Cheat Engine and start fidling with this as well.

B.S.! Game is too easy for hardcore gamers such as myself. I simply want the ability to craft my equipment without limitations. I understand dragons are "rare" but it's nonsense that I have only a certain amount of dragon materials for appearances.

Oh dearie me, dearie me, dearie me... such a bashful young lad this one... "hardcore gamers such as myself"... down boy, you'll get the fangirls squealing.

Lemme clue you in about what a hardcore gamer is: NOT someone who uses exploits to beat a game.

Find chest with 120 gold and a Masterwork Maul of a Decent Franchise
Take gold
Need 120,000 gold
30 second walk to new area
30 second load out
30 second load in
30 second walk back
20 hours

FRIGGIN GENIUS!

Edit: my math sucked at first

It looks like they cooked up a little proof of concept thing when first exploring frostbite. It's as much the "original concept for DAI" as that Mass Effect FPS was for that.

Tough luck for console players I guess. I'll just download an updated trainer if I don't feel like grinding. *whistles*

Well, you're most probably right, but then again, semantics speaking here, it *did* start as multiplayer only ;) But yeah, let's not get hooked up on wording.

Article doesn't say much but it could've meant it was able to be played with 1-4 controllers originally

that was like before even da2, they scratched that off real early in development. I remember one of the first QA's, people asked about multiplayer and mmo, stuff like that, and the guy laughed a bit and answered that they weren't going to do that and had no plans for it. Probably in the very beggining they started to plan a multiplayer, tides turned, and multiplayer only seemed like an awful idea, so they shifted it. But this was so long ago in the early stage of making of the game, i guess it's more a "what could have been" instead of "this is a multiplayer game gone single-player", sure, some mmo elements stuck, because they thought it could be interesting to a single player experience. But how the hell would the whole story of inquisition fit into multiplayer-only? 50000 inquisitors? They completely changed the game from the multiplayer experience they had in mind.

Yes, I imagine Dragon Age: Inquisition is a real draw in the eSports circles. Very competitive.

Or, it's a single player RPG and it doesn't matter, so what's the point in bragging? It's stupid.
