If it was never meant to be, it should be removed, imo

 

you will have to put in a little extra work in farming gold and perhaps begin picking up some of those common items but it's an exploit, and tbh I never encountered it, and did just fine, my biggest issue was the lack of good schematics to actually craft anything that was a decent upgrade AND looked good on my characters and party members

Also why does the mage have a staff but no company??? The mage carries the souls of his former staff?? It goes deeper.

It's not a big deal. Just limiting. It's not like I can pick cloth in the wild.

That is part of patch 4. You'll be able to gather flax and cotton in the wild. Take it back to skyhold and turn it into cloth with a loom. 20 pieces of flax/cotton makes 1 pieces of cloth. The loom is a min game that requires you to press left mouse button 100 times in a row.

With that 1 patch they will increase play time by 100 hrs. Enjoy!!

Games are art, and art is a reflection of life. Life is work, which means games are supposed to be work...not pleasure.

Now... get back to work!!! I need my entire crew outfitted in the best looking gear, and quite honestly there is nothing more important for the inquisitor to do than cater to the vanity needs of his/her party.

I know there were exploits, but which one are you talking about? where you heard they were going to remove that?

 

I don't like to use exploits myself, but when i'm on my 5th play, yea, i'll probably end up using some. 

 

I don't like to use bad language but screw you is what that amounts to.  Be honest.  You sound like a certain mage in Dragon Age 2.

 

Something like..  "We're not evil mages that practice Blood Magic!"  let me prove it by going nuts and using.....  Blood Magic.

Okay so here is a bottom line many in the anti exploit camp are missing:

People did not use this exploit because the game was too hard for them. Most people did not even use it for the gold. Most people used it to get more mats to either avoid excessive farming or the fact that some mats are overly limited in their supply. They did this to improve their experience, to build their ideal team.

The exploit had no negative impact on those not using it. I hadn't even considered using it until my third pt at which point I did so to save myself some time farmin materials. What materials you might ask? Tier 2 ones. For Battlemaster Mail I had since getting it as random schematic loot in the hinterlands before even recruiting the templars. THAT made things easy. Not the exploit, but instead Bioware's working as intended loot system.

My point here is that the exploit was not a crutch for most of us, not something we needed to beat the game. Rather, it was something we used to enrich our experience by avoiding excessive amounts of mmo style grinding that have no place in a single player experience. If I want to sink vast amounts of time into harvesting materials or money I have an Eve Online account (I don't mine resources on there but I could).

This exploit allowed people to cut out tedious hours of farming that did nothing but turn people off the game, thus making them less likely to buy dlc when it comes out, which is the last thing Bioware should want. PC players will just use mods and the Cheat Engine as I already do but console players, who this game was clearly made for, are screwed.

Long story short I think people should consider more deeply the use of the exploits before instantly assuming everybody who used it was "casual" or bad at the game. That just is not the case.

In my opinion Bioware made a bad decision from both a community and business stand point. This decision benefitted nobody besides perhaps indignant designers infuriated we were enjoying the game more by not playing quite as intended or elitist "hardcore" gamers, stroking their nether regions as they laugh at the rest of us "casuals."

As a disclaimer this is opinion. My thoughts, my stance, my opinion, with a moderate amount of solid fact mixed in.

Adding my support for this post.

 

I did one playthrough blind - no farming, no exploits. 150+ hours. I paid my dues.

Second playthrough, some farming, Influence exploiting to metagame the ending.

Third playthrough (current one) farming/exploiting, better overall experience!

Basic tier cloth is sold by merchant in VR, and then you get the war table operation to get the tier of choice, after you conquer a keep. Though it's hardly needed in my experience, I've been swimming in cloth I didn't need through most of the game.

I don't think it's acceptable so much as there's nothing they can do about it.  At least for now.
