Is that an exploit or 'clever use of game mechanics'?
CLEEEEEEEEEEEVER use of a game mechanics, of course. :3

The questionw as if driving a car was easy mode compared to walking.
And the answer to that can only be yes.
My work is about a forty minute drive. I guess I am a "casual" when it comes to transportation because **** walking.
lol I didn't even know there was a chest glitch. I was talking about the dupe glitch, but yes, even the chest glitch isn't something you're just going to encounter. So it isn't going to accidentally screw anyone's game. There wasnt a need to fix these glitches. Especially since console players are just SOL without them.
I would like NG+, don't see it happening though.
Good news, I didn't know there was an item dupe glitch...seriously how did I miss this?
because most people didnt need it

After playing more than 150 hours on two or three separate characters, I think I deserve that shortcut as well.
Like we kept saying many times, it's not affecting MP so why should it bother others if we use it?
Discussion of shortcuts reminded me of this guy who cheated a marathon.
(appreciate that this story does not undermine the OP's case at all as this is, er, multiplayer not single player)

you can power throught the game in a 30 hour nightmare speedrun
the story is 15 hours
so all these 100 hours are mostly
grinding for materials and fetch quests
i skipped shards, fallow mire, and landmarks and finished the game in 30 hours on nightmare
and of that 30 hours was kiting enemies
I don't like skipping anything besides the top tier schematics hunting. I blame my perfectionism.
fixing gold duplication and material duplication?
That was an issue that needed to be fixed, beh..
Not the limited tactical view camera, or the funky combat AI that encourages ranged to stack near the tank to eat a big fire breath from a dragon.. Cool. Good priorities.
I am on my 3rd play through and don't even know what these exploits you are talking about are. I do know however that the PC controls and Tac cam are a greater issue!!!!!

Many of us are completionists who like each character to do everything which takes substantial amounts of time on its own without needing to farm materials or gold for the gear we want. Seriously farming materials and drops is fine for mmos, idiotic for a single player experience. I am all the more grateful I am on pc and CE allows me to bypass this "fix" and save myself some time.

Everyone keeps saying this and it feels like entitlement because the truth of the matter is that it doesn't matter if it's your first playthrough or your 10th playthrough, it's what makes you YOURSELF enjoy the game more that matters.I didn't use them my first two go 'rounds, so technically, I didn't need them. However, I am starting my third tonight and already looking forward to not having to spend so much time grinding. According to the webz, it doesn't work with herbs, but just knowing that I don't have to grind metals, leather and cloth seems a nice change of pace.

Also, To the Bioware team: Just because somebody points out an exploit, it does not necessarily mean the community wants it removed. If you don't realize this by now then you all are simply out of touch with the gamer community. You cater to a small minority of very vocal players and believe that their views reflect the community as a whole. You've proven time and time again that you neither recognize, nor support, the views of your constituents. As constituents we do not support your self imposed Oligarchy and the number of DA:MP high level users no longer playing is proof of this. However this may be your tactic as analytical business reports have shown that new users tend to spend the highest amount of currency in microtransactions.
Edit: autocorrect is my worst enemy
Well, I definitely agree with the first part. It's the reason people install mods for hair and armor. It doesn't add anything, but it certainly gives you a sense of enjoyment. I was just using my "Played it twice without" example to show that some don't want it left in simply because we feel we can't beat the game without the exploit, or that we somehow need it. It's just something that makes it a little less... ass-grating.
Wasn't this exploit also in DA:O and DA2? I wonder if they ever patched it out of those games, or if the exploit still works.

Without any wish to antagonise may I calmly say that this is very subjective given that you are proposing it as what 'we' think.
I do not believe you are in a position ('we do not support') to assume the consensus of DAI gaming constituents subscribe to your view.
And I'm not convinced that your rhetoric (to the BioWare team) is particularly constructive,
though I grant that we all can get a bit over-passionate about these things (myself included).
Surely BioWare being a 'self imposed Oligarchy' just means they have the right to patch the game as they feel best for their customers?
Or is there an alternative corporate structure you are proposing for EA/BioWare?
I admit I'm softening to the idea that leaving the exploit alone would have been ok, thought that ship has already sailed and it is BioWare's call to make.

True but i couldnt be arsed to grind in single player and after doing the game over and gamer the sidequests and collections bored me

Pretty much all old school gamers are perfectionists because we are used to games where you can't skip anything. You had to look everywhere, try everything, pick everything up no matter how unimportant it may seem at the time and were "rewarded" for that when you needed that item for a quest much later in the game.
Considering that stuff like the prisoner at Ostagar plays a role in the Dragon Age Keep, who's to say we can skip quests in DA:I? Maybe they play a role in the next game?
True but i couldnt be arsed to grind in single player and after doing the game over and gamer the sidequests and collections bored me
The shards, dude. Those asshat shards are the worst collection in the game. I hated them with a passion.
Did I say all? No. I also stated that there is a vocal minority who do have opposing views and if you would care to count the yays vs. the nays in the 17 pages of responses to this thread then you would see the majority support my indifference to the current business model.
Obviously them having the sole authority over how we feel the game should be played is leaning towards Oligarchy as the views of the majority do not necessarily reflect the views of those in power. I apologize if you feel you are a member of a Bioware plutocracy but they care not what you think equally as much as they care not what I think.
That's a much fairer answer, thank you for writing it.
I just think it should be there.Ban it from multiplayer. If you don't want it, don't use it.
I do.
5th playthrough and honestly, I do not want to scavange for materials. I still use cheat engine and anytime I have 4 or more items they are good to go for being multiplied. But when you get only one... Then the exploit was useful. I started playing with a gamepad for that and for the terrible mouse and keyboard arrangements they made for this game, so I had the best of both worlds.
Now, off to just kill and loot crossing my fingers I reach 4 of any item.

Except we aren't, you didn't and you're referring only to a certain subset of games.

Eh what now? Could you elaborate please?
