It doesn't work this way for console folks.
We don't even have the action replay anymore.
Modders can correct a game to make it more enjoyable for PC. Console players have only their eyes to cry.
I know right. 3 years or so to develop the entire game when most of it wasn't even programming. A month is a lot of time.
Right. No way it took someone a month to fix that exploit. Hours, probably. Which is why your cost estimate was nonsense. You knew better, so why did you make up phony numbers?

You probably can, to some extent. And I'd bet that it's honestly not much less complicated than doing so on PC with this cheat engine stuff.
I modded my hair, resources, and plot flags in ME2 and ME3 on Xbox for example. It took a thumb drive and about a half hour of learning how, but it worked.

I held out on using this exploit until one day, I got a good schematic and decided "I'll make my BiS gear from this!" so, off I go, Dragon Hunting.
Crestwood dragon drops one dragon bone.
Hinterlands dragon drops one dragon bone. FML.
So yeah, I started using the exploit after that. I don't blame them for patching it... but come on, priorities: This is a single-player game, exploits like these aren't a big deal. Don't take away one of the ways people can enjoy the game (Getting mats easy instead of grinding for them) when there are so many bugs and bad designs to be fixed.
I agree that it should be given back to console players. PC players can use CE to get free crafting, gold and more at will so, it really makes no difference for us, we'll jsut mod it back in anyway (well not by the same method but, we get unlimited rare mats, unlimited gold, free perks and so on if we want it.) Just as any other EA game, and one reason they are best on PC - you can mode them to suit you.

I'm just agreeing that it probably only took them a little while. No evidence either way besides the raw numbers and those numbers match the ones I gave
I haven't played MP, but does it have a store where you can sell and purchase loot? Do you gather metals, leather or cloth? If not, the dupe glitch can't carry over.
Does MP have areas where you can remove loot from chests, then leave the area and return to loot them again? If not, then the chest dupe glitch won't carry over.
Does it have a merchant that sells Influence? If not, then the Influence glitch can't carry over.
If it has any if these features, then yeah. I can see why they patched it. If not, no reason for those exploits to be removed really, especially when a hundred more things needed their attention.
The chest glitch still functions, I just did it a couple of times with the loot drop in Crestwood for amulets. I haven't played any MP either, but since the merchant glitch also plays back to the gold glitching, in fact, isn't it one of the ways the gold glitch functions, then yes, it would need fixed. Unless one has unlimited inventory in MP, there must be a way to sell stuff you don't want or need. As I said, I don't play MP. I just know that MP is included, and fixing a glitch on one fixes it on all, since they use the same scripts which can be manipulated using the glitch. In SP, it's not on my radar at all, and I don't play MP, so it wouldn't affect me, but if it's possible, they don't have the luxury of pretending it doesn't matter. It does matter.
In MP you can't sell your stuff. You can only destroy it to gain place and some crafting materials. It is absolutely NOT the same rules than SP.

You cannot sell equipment in DAMP, only salvage surplus weaponry for its constituent metal and cloth.

You were the one estimating that it took a man-month to patch the exploit. That's how you came up with your silly $7,777 figure. Obviously that was BS since you never believed it yourself, so what was the point of posting a number that was made-up nonsense?
Bio-bashing and pajama debate aside...
I agree with the original post. I want a way to avoid spending all the real-life hours of grinding I did already. I don't like the idea of having to rely on a third-party software to avoid the mindless, agonizing grinding that sucks the enjoyment straight out of my game, over and over on every replay (though at least there is an option for those that want it, so thanks, awesome modders. I really do love you guys.) It's Single-Player. Hurts no one.
If this somehow did impact MP, at least that would be a valid reason, but I would feel better knowing that is why they did it. Right now, it kind of feels like a petty move to me.
I really liked the crafting portion of the game, and this removal really upset me. They did all that work, and I'll likely never see half the things they created now, because I can't get the mats for them. It seems a real waste and shame.
As others have suggested, a simple fix would be to put the mats as unlimited on a vendor to purchase, and allow gold-gain to not be the horror it is. Could even just have them available as you find/gather them so at least you put in effort, if that is the point they are trying to make.
Another suggestion: Add a game save editor. Heck, make it a DLC. I don't care; I'd happily buy from the game provider. I don't need judgment on the rights and wrongs of how I play - It's my game; I'd like to play it my way.
Also, I never play Multi-Player mode, and I really wish they'd give us an official way to Opt Out permanently, so our accounts are never at risk of the dreaded ban-hammer.
Right now, I'd give anything to just go back to Patch 2, when mats were readily available and shields were useful. *Is sad.*

All I know is if I wanted ta farm mats I'd play WoW or some other MMO that's like a second job instead of a game.

which you could only do because the Xbox 360's save encryption was cracked. As far as I know, this has not happened yet for the PS4/Xbone.
Do you know how long it took?
For all we know according to Biowares claims they KNEW about the glitch pre-release, they could have spent 1000 man hours on this at this point.
As I said MINE was an UNDERestimate
I only agree with you that it probably took them 10 minutes given how lazy they appear to be
So, this is the part where you give up trying to make a rational argument? Or did we pass that a couple posts back when you started to alternate between saying it took a long time and saying it took minutes? Seriously, dude, pick one. Or throw up your hands and admit you have no idea what you're talking about and you made up those numbers because you were drunk or something.
