I am usually almost never for exploits and cheats and never in an MP environment. But when I do use exploits its on re-play through and never used to gain gold. If I wanted to farm mats constantly for Hours/Days I would go play an MMO game.

But some of the Mats in this game seem to be so unbelievably rare, such as Fade stuff. I have farmed for hours once I seen it drop off a certain mob or such, never to see another again. I so want to use some of these on my items, but find my self hording that 1 only drop till I know I will not ever upgrade an item again, sometimes waiting till almost end game to use something I found 40 hours ago so it don't go to waste. Lease with duping when I found 2 of them I could dupe it and start using it when ever I liked. I still have like 8 Fades with only 1 each in my inventory. I have tons of thoughts 10-40% chance to get a 10% increase on an item, and several versions of them (Why?) but now why would any one use these at all? Its a total waste of resources, for a chance to improve an item, rather then a sure thing.

I did not mind that I could not dupe Plants and such as I could buy the common ones off vendors. But ones for upgrades lest they were either in a static spot or a in a vacuity I could farm easy. Now if you made Mats for crafting work similar to plants, such as buying them I would not mind as much. But also increase Really rare drops more.

As it stands now though, I will finish my 2nd play through as I am far enough in and duped enough particular mats it should not effect me much. But I wont be playing through again, if its not changed back or some other option is available, to lessen hour/days of mind numbing farming.

Yeah, spent about 8 hours this weekend farming for the Balanced Greatsword schematic this weekend just to have decent looking top tier sword for my warrior. RNG sucks, and I wouldn't be surprised if they patch chest farming at some point too.

Now if they released a repeatable war table mission that would guarantee 20 - 30 of each tier 3 and 4 mats(tier 4 likely wouldn't be included but one can hope) and 4+ of each mastercraft mat, but make it take 24 to 48 hours to finish(maybe even up to a week depending on how many mats you want) I'd consider buying it if it was reasonably priced.

A usual line from BioWare is:

'they are not discussing that'

which can mean anything they need it to mean.
As per the Inquisitr article:

http://www.inquisitr...tory-based-dlc/

(and truly I don't blame them for that stance)

Thanks. I didn't look far enough back. And yeah, it says what you said it said.

In fact, I made a proposition about the advanced camp : They give power and Influence at no cost at all, just have to find them.

What about if they COST power to give you mats over the time. A camp near a cave give you ore, a camp in a pasture give you herbs, etc...

So, to have a new mat over time, you have to find the camp that give you that.

Actually not a bad idea. Considering I'm sitting at 230 power and only have like one or 2 quests that will actually require some left. Then give it an increased chance at fade mats over trying to get them in the wild maybe.

Not downloading it does not help much when you already downloaded it, probably the reason they don't list what's in the patch while or before its downloading and to late.  :(

I wish there was a way to remove the patch, as not just cause of this added, but all the graphical and crashing problems I didn't have before patch. The game ran vary smooth with no hiccups at all, several times now computer froze and rebooted.

Unfortunately, I rebooted my computer and the next update caught the game before I could stop it. The consequence of not turning off auto updates with origin.

So I lost everything, and was forced to uninstall the game. I cannot play it on patch 3 and am quite unhappy with how this affects my game time.

RNG as the only source of anything in any game and game mode is plain ridiculous. Today I leveled up enough to go kill my first dragon. All excited I traveled to Hinterlands and take the beast out. It dropped 5/4/5 dragon webbings/scales/bones. OK...

Next I defeated the one in Exalted Plains. It dropped 2/2/3. I reloaded and killed it again, 3/2/4.

So at this rate, after I kill all dragons, I may just barrely gather enough materials to fill in top tier armor.

Why is everything RNG dependent? Just make dragon drop lets say 10 of each everytime. This is seriously not fun for me anymore. It is a single-player game, why am I grinding here for anything? Just set up the merchant in Skyhold (for example) with schematics and materials and boost "Gather Coin" operation income to 500 or so.

Hmm what if, what if that guy could ONLY sell you mats after you've unlocked them but once unlocked you have free access?
This seems VERY plausible to me. I would have this thread deleted if they did that

Yeah, something like that. I.E. once you pick some material up, unlock/visit material specific area or do certain mission, materials become available to buy.

Or when you get your first tier X schematic then all the rest can be bought.

Whatever really, just no more RNG. Please.

Well, you could always just... not fill in top tier armor? DAI doesn't seem to reward being a completionist, whether of item lists or of areas.

It's like Bioware forgot the audience though. RPGs are all about the pointless completion.

Well it is somewhat of a poor design to give the player the abillity to craft top tier armor which actually looks nice (good looking and at the same time useful gear is hard to come by in this game), but don't give him enough mats to actually do so? :D Not to mention you first have to farm the best schematics.

Btw I think higher lvl dragons give more mats than those let's say under lvl 15-17. So once you kill them all, you should be able to at least fully pimp up your character, but killing all 10 dragons usually means you are basically done with the game, since there is nothing else to pose even a remote challenge.

It kinda depends on your class. If you're a warrior you'll go through your dragon bones rather quickly, especially if you were unlucky. This whole RNG system is really a poor MMO design which should have no place in a SP story driven RPG, that is all about your character and your party.

My overall conclusion is that there is too much collecting in this game.

There's more collecting than story.

RNG is exactly the same as NWN except I concede the point that there were no schematics in NWN, you simply could just make custom items in a toolkit any time you felt the need.
Do you remember the days when Bioware allowed you to make an item before you even started worth 255,000 gold multiplied by 10 with infinite bags of holding?

This is ridiculous there was a Gold Exploit in Origins that didnt hurt anything so it was left alone and in DA2 there was a Gold Exploit that didnt hurt anything so it was left alone as well and now B-Ware is going out of their way to fix the Gold Exploit in Inquistion once again it didnt hurt anything but oh well gotta fix.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Farming Exploits will be fixed next which will F°°°ing suck because I hate the RNG loot system in DAI it sucks oh and B-Ware if you do fix the farming exploits please add a new merchant in game that can sell us all the schematics.

I don't follow the argument. From the character's perspective the loot he gets is random however the system works -- he doesn't know there are designers someplace determining how these things happen -- so where's the RP problem?

The randomness of it is so annoying, tbh. I remember the first character I rolled, which was an archer--it seemed like I got a pretty decent array of schematics and appropriate loot such as bows, daggers, hunter gear, etc. My second run as a mage, I noticed that I seemed to loot a lot of warrior stuff, but still got a pretty decent amount of mage gear and schematics.

This time, however; it's absolutely dry. I am playing a mage and have already clocked in a lot of hours. I almost completed the Hinterlands, Fallow Mire and the Storm Coast and I have been at Skyhold for a bit and I hardly have any mage schematics at all. If I pick up any, it seems to be pummels, hafts and daggers and little to no armor ones. I had to buy the few that I do have. I know, or at least I hope, that I'll be picking up better stuff as I progress, but at this point, I certainly wouldn't mind picking up some low tier stuff--anything at all.

Has anyone else noticed this randomness? It's maddening. At this point, I haven't used any exploits and I have a pretty good diversity of material with nothing to use it for.

Prettttty sure it's noticed.
Problem is, unless you grind for 200k gold to physically purchase all the tier 1 & 2 schematics it would be impossible to drop all of the tier 3 schematics and still highly improbably without using the loot exploit

My chime in is this, these douches break crap that does no imbalance to MP or anything, ptch the dupe, patch the exploit fr the books at skyhold to get max influence. But leave the bad **** broken?!  I love when I go to judge peopl on my thron my inquisitor is knee deep in the seat standing and looking like he is crucified, no, don't fix that. Three minute load times into hinterlands and such, nope not that either, looting ssues unless you are standing exactly 3.2 inches away facing downward at a 77.4 degree angle slightly over your left shoulder, not that either. But patch **** that is harmless, yeah gotta stop the ability for my whole party to have dragon armor, hellz no!!!!!!!!

There are soo many ignorant bugs tha show a complete lack of attention to detail and care of precision of work, but don't fix them. Of cours some keyboard tough guy is gonna flame me, and oh well. But BW's time should have been spent fixing rappy coding, glitces, crashes and such instead of 2 exploits which hurt no other person on the planet.

I am uninstalling the game for this eason, not because they fixed a dupe, but because they rushed a patch to fix uselessness and broke more stuff rather than fix something to improve gameplay and the whole experience, and most likely the last Bioware game I buy if this is indicative of there work going forward.

Higher level dragons seem to drop more in my playthrough, Emprise Du Lions dropped 15 - 20 of each from the 2 cold dragons. I also had the increased mats perk, but it didn't seem to make a difference, lower level ones seemed to only drop 2 - 5 of each.

*Sigh* I've just finished my first playthrough...but in order to do the second one, I have to import the world state...and oh surprise, I have to connect to the keep, meaning that I have to go through that ugly patch. Such a sad day, I'll have to learn to use the CE to make available the schematics I need. I hope somebody manage to mod the game so we don't have to rely on that. I'm still reluctant to use it.
