*Sigh* I've just finished my first playthrough...but in order to do the second one, I have to import the world state...and oh surprise, I have to connect to the keep, meaning that I have to go through that ugly patch. Such a sad day, I'll have to learn to use the CE to make available the schematics I need. I hope somebody manage to mod the game so we don't have to rely on that. I'm still reluctant to use it.

Just use the default world state bud

Maybe I'm getting old but I remember the days when cheating was not something people were proud of.

I remember those days too - the thrust of the argument is that as it is single player, cheating is player choice harming no-one and avoids the 'boring' bits of the game. Ok fair enough... Truthfully I would not have called for the exploit's removal as it was not troubling me, but I understand why BioWare did it, they wanted the game to work 'as intended'. Having been removed my own reaction had I been using it would be a shoulder shrug, but the desire to craft materials runs deep.

Complete BS. At the beginning it was more popular than it is now. There were specialised hardware peripherals dedicated to it for every home computer. For example Action Replay for Amiga, Final III for C-64 etc. 60 pages magazine had at least 3-4 pages dedicated for cheating. I still have many of them from early-mid 80ies.

People were talking about it non stop on various gaming meetings. Then so called hard core gamers appeared, so full of themselves that it was like curse to even mention cheating talking with them.

Yeah, so maybe you're not that old to remember those times.

Personally, I always did and still do cheat every single game like there is no tomorrow.

I think this should work: start your game when origin is in offline mode, switch it back online when the game is in the main menu, log in, import your world state :)

Well, two things. Firstly, something else is avoiding a bit of boring stuff, which every game has and something else is getting screwed by RNG in every playthrough you want your characters to look nice for the few final hours of the game, this is not an MMO. And secondly, the game for sure doesn't work as intended or in some cases it does, but the intentions are completely wrong - just look at the class balance and specifically on Knight Enchanter and Tempest. While I like balanced classes, I won't mind them being never patched, since this is a SP game.

It works, I can confirm it, tried it just now (I still haven't downloaded the stealth hotfix). I can get into multiplayer lobby as well, but I am not sure it this would work if the patch was specifically addressing multiplayer issues.

Lets not play the "morals" game. It's discussion is ridiculous in the context of this thread.

Cheating against others in a game is one thing, but cheating in a single player game to make the game more enjoyable is quite another.

i can understand why someone would want to exploit gold in this game regarding its single player. The game is just way, way, way too grindy and it plays exactly like an mmo which is what you want to avoid at all costs in a single player game. I can't believe they admitted that they tried to emulate skyrim somehow. Skyrim was never this grindy and its designed to go intentionally out of its way to not feel grindy at all. This game is the exact opposite, I feel like the grind is always obvious and was blatantly made that way in this game.

People also say that this game was a failed refurbished mmo turned into what it is now. That honestly would not surprise me given its gameplay and botched story.

I can empathize with people wanting to exploit resources/gold in this game due to its terrible design.

Not geting the patch will affect me negatively as I won't be able to get future dlc's.  But I think it hurts BW more as I won't buy the DLC anymore and I suggest console players who disagree with this patch to do the same.  If BW doesn't bother reading feedback then hit them where it hurts.

Farming for fade touched items doesn't make you a "real" gamer.  It just makes you lucky.

The irritation that continues to grate at the patience of gaming today is the notion that one shouldn't cheat, ever.

This should hold true for multi player. But people mistake one thing about single-player quite often

A player should never cheat because it deviates from how the developer wanted you to play the game.

What ever happened to allowing your players across all platforms play the game THEY want to play?

In a single player game your actions impact you alone. Morals at this point are irrelevant and left for philosophy discussions.

People can cheat however they like. But it's not up to the developer to enable you to do it. If they want a certain products, they can have it.

I suppose you and the small few that share your opinion will then have nothing further to add to the arguments already presented.

Well, I agree that they aren't required to do so. I just think it was a senseless thing to do. I think it was an easy fix, so they fixed it.

Doesn't mean I agree with it and I don't think it would have hurt anyone to leave it. I think if you're going to fix an exploit that a lot of people enjoyed using, perhaps they should ask themselves why it's such a popular exploit. Many feel the loot system is terrible. Maybe they should have taken the time to fix that. Maybe they should have implemented different ways to earn materials, so that people wouldn't feel that a majority of their time is grinding and looting objects that sell for 3 gold when you're level 20.

That's a pointless protest in my opinion, and if you are here on this forum, then yes it will hurt you more because it will hurt BW not at all.

There's only one reason to buy DLC on console, that's down to whether it's any good.

As the last several DLCs from BioWare ranged from good to very good, I'll be having a copy.

As far as reading feedback is concerned, BioWare have said before that they see the feedback,

it's just that what BSN and other sources say can be so contradictory, that they have to go with what makes sense to them.

I think you are much more likely to access more rare materials by those being added to the game

than by having the decision to fix the exploit reversed.

Who knows, you might be right, but it seems unlikely to me.

(The ME3 protest to change the ending didn't work (exactly) and they had cupcakes...)

It indirectly hurts bioware. If people refuse to patch to 3, and explain why, I. E, the many crashes armor resetting to 0 value, well. Yeah..

The current system discourages crafting in a way.

More likely EA bought out the developer and gave it to BW as a template

It makes me laugh when I read "Real gamers don't use cheats!"

Old gamers remind of LOT of different cheat menus included in the game itself! Cheating was in the game and was BUILT by the devs themselves! Now, the cheats menus are still created by the devs but they are paid DLC (Saints Rows by exemple). So? Now we must pay to cheat, so it is good?

I had fun with my flying tanks, the big heads mode or other moons jumps. If you love games that make you suffer without giving you anything, try a new life as a slave in a S&M dungeon! Seems like you totally forget that a lot of cheats exist to rend the game MORE HARD (enemies more tough, almost no health at all...) but no, you are traumatized by COD cheaters and their high pinch voice "Yeah, Headshot!".

But, after all, you are perhaps the ultimate absolute gamer god that knows absolutely everything about games, so all the games must be made about your own desire and every other gamer must play like YOU want during their SP playthrough.

To sum it all, cheats has always exist. It is only because this *******ing e-sport and this ******* achievements that it was put aside. A big gap in the BAD direction.

Like "HUDSONSOFT", that is always the first old-ish cheat I think of :)

*cough* AC: Unity microtransactions. And it is despicable in a SP game. I am really glad BW / EA haven't put something similar in DAI. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they have, considering how grindy the game is.
