I'm on ps4, so the item dupe still works for me. And I'm glad it does. I really don't feel like grinding for hours to get my armor to look the way I want it to. If the PS4 patch makes the dupe impossible, I won't be getting that patch.(Meaning I will stay offline while playing DAI) It's not so bad for the metals, they can be found in abundance. But cloth? That can become quite a hassle when you're getting near mid to late game. And the fade-touched variants can be a real pain if the RNGoddes dislikes you.

Why patch it out anyway? I actually thought they put it in on purpose, considering how the same exploit was present in Origins and DA2 as well. They never patched it there either. I really don't see the harm in it. It's not like your competing with other players, it's SP... If you want to dupe, then dupe. If you don't want to, then don't. Everybody happy.

I've played DAI aprox 248 hours now. Perhaps 2 of them has been in the multiplayer.

I tried to be optimistic about the rumours of farming and such and at first was it ok since the difficulty wasn't that bad that the characters needed to be completely maxed. Then, as with all games and me, does a feeling creep in that it should have been different. Like for instance do I fight the game about how armours and characters look, so I want to change those things. The most realistic in-game thing is to craft something. Ok, for random result crafting does save/load work...or I can just mod (exploiting in other words).

I just know that I would not have had so many hours in the game without being able to alter some of the core rules of the game.

In any case will it still be possible to do this, just at bigger risk for the customers through third parties.

So, it finally happened. The patch hit every console players and because I wanted to play MP, I was forced to download the patch. Can't no longer duplicate items, my 116 hours file is now a waste and I got nothing else to kill until a DLC happens. So I restarted on Nightmare mode a few weeks ago and waited for the new patch, just wanted to see if it would help me with the tactical cam fixes. I'm surprised to see the fix is actually helpful, can now focus on the monsters without fearing that my characters auto-center the cam when I select them. However, the issue now is that I can't see where my characters are and the cam won't go higher. Disappointing.

That's a pointless protest in my opinion, and if you are here on this forum, then yes it will hurt you more because it will hurt BW not at all.

There's only one reason to buy DLC on console, that's down to whether it's any good.
As the last several DLCs from BioWare ranged from good to very good, I'll be having a copy.

As far as reading feedback is concerned, BioWare have said before that they see the feedback,
it's just that what BSN and other sources say can be so contradictory, that they have to go with what makes sense to them.

I think you are much more likely to access more rare materials by those being added to the game
than by having the decision to fix the exploit reversed.

Who knows, you might be right, but it seems unlikely to me.

(The ME3 protest to change the ending didn't work (exactly) and they had cupcakes...)

No I know it is a pointless protest, but I just don't want to lose the ability to dupe items. It is hard enough to even get one fade touched item, now the idea of doing that over and over again is just unbearable. If the DLCs are good maybe I'll get it but only after I have duped FT ingrediant and have thousands of dragon material.
If a patch come out that lets me buy the ingredients from vendors then I may reconsider but not right now. Besides there are no Dlc's announced yet so it is a moot point.

PC players are fine; they have access to trainers. Console players on the other hand have to rely on save editors. And there are none for DAI.

Copy/pasted from the Patch 4 discussion thread.

The dup/gold exploit has been there since DA:O. I considered it part of the DA franchise! XD

Anyway,my suggestion is to put a "cheat mode" in the game. That way players who don't want to spend hours and hours looking for materials around Thedas can easily access them, but would not unlock any achievements/trophies that would be much easier to get if you used the exploits.

This is just a suggestion. I personally would prefer it this way,as I only used the dup glitch purely for the customization options and not for the Achievements.

Is BioWare even reading these posts?

Honestly I'm not a big fan of the BioWare Or the dragon age saga, but after I bought the game for my curiosity, I come to enjoy it, until I went on YouTube and learn about the dupe/gold exploits and I Really started to enjoy it more. I mean after a long days work I would hop on the game, see what I can craft up to enjoy without having to farm, it was a very unique fun tool, and because of that exploit I purchased previous dragon age games to get in to the DA world.

But now after a long day, I come home, turn on the game, try to play with the game, instead of losing my mind in crafting, now I have no choice to mindlessly farm, which makes the game kinda dull, if I wanted to waste my time farming, I would of joined my son on a life wasting MMO game like WoW or whatever mmo that's out there.

I mean make changes to the multiplayer gameplay, not the single player mode which is doing no harm except increasing the enjoyment of others. But as for now, I won't be playing the DAI game as much as before, like I want to, shoot I might have to return the game to the store.

So please BRING BACK THE GOLD/DUPE EXPLOITS for console players such as myself and others, thank you.

BioWare,

I enjoyed the game quite a bit just like the previous DA titles.  On my second and third play through I enjoyed using the duplication to skip over content such as resource farming that wasn't as enjoyable.

Unfortunately you felt the need to patch an "exploit" that has been in every single release of your game.  I can only assume it was greed that motivated you to forsake the game player to line your pockets with DLC money.  Rest assured, I will not buy any BioWare DLC nor any further BioWare games.  Your net loss.

They fixed an exploit instead of fixing really broken stuff like the inability to install the 2nd disc on the 360 and PS3 causing overheating and game freezing issues.

Way to go BW for prioritizing stuff. No really way to freaking go. The gold/duplication exploit, the infinite influence exploit. Those could have been left until after the major problems were fixed first!

You can get rid of the patch that has this fix in there if you like and play the game offline on the console systems. It also gets rid of any other fixes the patch has done but it's up to you.

Looks like my urge to do a second playthrough just vanished entirely. The least they could do is make Fade Touched items a bit easier to obtain.

I got the patch for 360.  I had heard the chest farming was done as well.  But I just tried and new items had respawned in the chests.  So I guess it still works.  I never tried the duplication advantage though..

Chest farming was never addressed. Running Cradle of Sulevin for schematics again and again is still possible.

Why do they care what we do on our own consoles? I played through the vanilla game without the Exploit, and now I wanted to have some fun. I will not play this game anymore now, and wont purchase any DLC because I will be bored with it just like Destiny. Whoever's great wisdom it was to create this game with no storage and limited ways to arm your other members. Great Job. Now you have taken all the Fun out of the game for me. I think they must be taking it personally that someone found a hole in their software and they couldn't sleep until it was fixed. I'm done with these big companies selling console games at outrageous prices and then telling us what we can do with them after we buy them. I am switching to steam and playing on my PC to hell with them.

I made the mistake of loading the patch and then making a save. if you do that your screwed. Even if you unload the patch and try to revert to an earlier save it wont let you open with out the patch being installed.

Because beyond them wanting the game to be played as it was intended to be played, the developers want you to remain interested and keep playing. Exploits can potentially jeopardize this as they can allow the player to "conquer" the game more quickly, get bored with it, and consequently move on. And we can't have that happening until you've purchased all the DLC coming down the pipe now, can we? Thus, all exploitive bugs must be shot on sight and expunged from the public record as quickly as possible.

But it's a trickier prospect when (from a player's standpoint) there are bigger problems that need dealing with.

It's the console players that got screwed over by the patch which whatever I wont be buying any dlc so it wont be getting loaded and the multiplayer is crap anyway so no loss there.  The thing that pisses me off is I was watching a player on twitch on pc last night sit there and make gold & dragon bones & armor & essences of perfection out of thin air. I won't be buying another dlc or Bioware or Ea product again.  I'm tired of you guys tacking crap micro transaction multiplayer onto games instead of real content then patching it just to make things harder for player.  The final nail went into coffin RIP Bioware

I never thought about it like that before.. Limiting console players options and forcing them to buy DLC to alleviate their poor crafting system ailments..

With this game; it is exploits that are keeping people interested. Going out to farm for hours kills the interest. Using the exploits allowed us to jump right into the fun with no problems. We played it right the first time. We don't want to have to keep repeating the process in a sp game over and over and over and over again.

If they wanted to patch the exploits then they should have added another method that allowed us to get money and resources and influence ina more entertaining way.

They should fix the major issues and leave the stuff that actually keeps people interested in the game in place. This is why we didn't download the patch and according to someone earlier if you download the patch and make a save you are screwed because you can't revert to an earlier save pre-patch and load it up without the patch.

Way to go to screw the player base.

Glad we didn't download the patch. Rather play a broken game than a game that makes it boring to play.

Yup, I agree with you. I've refused to dl the patch. Just saying how I think the devs tend to regard these things.

We shouldn't have to farm in the first place, now that I think about it. There's a serious disconnect between the story and the gameplay. You're the Inquisitor! You command a large and loyal following, most of whom believe you to be some kind of messiah. They're all depending on you to save the world!

But when it comes down to you needing raw materials for equipment with which to slay evil, you have to get them yourself? Your "loyal" followers are suddenly like, "Oh, that's nice. Here's a pickaxe and a garden shovel. Happy foraging. We'll just be in the tavern."

Heck with that. Let the breech swallow them.

Well, looks like I'll stick with patch 2 and NOT buy any DLC.
