Because beyond them wanting the game to be played as it was intended to be played, the developers want you to remain interested and keep playing. Exploits can potentially jeopardize this as they can allow the player to "conquer" the game more quickly, get bored with it, and consequently move on. And we can't have that happening until you've purchased all the DLC coming down the pipe now, can we? Thus, all exploitive bugs must be shot on sight and expunged from the public record as quickly as possible.

But it's a trickier prospect when (from a player's standpoint) there are bigger problems that need dealing with.

I finished my 100% complete playthrough without using any exploits, 3rd party tools or bugs. It was still way too easy and way too boring. Patching it or not won't change anything for me, I'm not going to play this game again until they add actual content and fix ... all the annoyances mentioned a hundred times in this forum.

Maybe I'm getting old but I remember the days when cheating was not something people were proud of.

On the other hand, they probably sold millions of Game Genies/Pro Action Replays. Any time I would replay an RPG like Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy, I would use one to save a whack of time I used to spend grinding. I bought one for my DS after my then 1 year old managed to turn it on, go into DQ9 and erase my save game after I spent over 100 hours on it, much of that was killing silver slimes over and over and over again. It was do that, or just give up on it because I didn't feel like doing that all over again.

As far as the DA gold/item dupe exploit goes, it was fun not having to worry about gold or to have access to all of my character's spells/abilities after the first playthrough. You could still die against mages and dragons if you weren't careful.

Nothing's changed. It's just that cheating, more often than not, involves another person or persons having the misfortune to be at the other end of a cheat. A victim. Cheating at poker, cheating on your spouse, etc. Someone else is being disrespected or undermined in such instances of cheating and obviously that's nothing to be proud of.

Who am I harming, undermining or disrespecting by exploiting a glitch in a single player video game? It's a victimless "crime." I suppose you could make the argument that I'm cheating myself out of a proper gaming experience. But if I want to undermine myself, it's my choice, isn't it? Where's the injured party here? Why on earth should I feel the least bit bad about it?

Cheating isn't always something to be proud of as stated. However using a exploit glitch to save time on a game that already is a time sink on just mining resources and herbs is a time saver. It makes the game easier to get through. Neither myself or my girlfriend want to spend 300 hours on a game for mining resources or herbs alone. We have a life yet we like to game, we like to watch tv shows together or do other things together.

Gaming isn't our lives but seriously getting rid of an exploit that helps people is just wrong.

Sorry guys. I was banned until after this patch rolled out for saying some rude things but now that it has I believe a lot of new players might have questions or opinions regarding this particular piece of it.
I myself haven't downloaded it yet for PS4 even though the day prior for MP I finally dropped a punched by the maker.
Problem is in order to stop the patch for me I've had to cancel the download every time I load the game. I have PSN automatic downloads off and am logged out of PSN including disabling Origin from within the game yet each time still it adds the update file to downloads and starts downloading.

I am assuming that bioware is covering their ass because of OP abilities and OP builds that make the game easy(that are harder to fix)

Gold exploit was harmless and oh yeah it was easier to fix and bsn wanted/needed patches i just didnt think bioware would get rid of a exploit cause it was easier than fixing the games many bugs

The general consensus is that even without the exploit the game becomes too easy at a certain point. At that certain point if a player decides they want to use the exploit or not should be their own decision, not Biowares.
At least that's what I've gathered from the responses in this thread of over 600 replies and no response from the Dev team

There are still the occasional tryhards, "oldschool" players, and bioware diehards that defend their decision claiming that good games don't allow you to play the game you want to play, its the game that THEY want you to play. When argument should also focus on why people use the exploits.. Its because theres something wrong with the current format!

For me that certain point was around lvl 13-15, when you can take all the good abilities from your spec tree and some other core abilities. Nothing in the game poses a real challenge after that. Especially if you happen to have one of those OP classes in your party.

I know balancing is hard and in SP game it does not really matter as much as in MP, but no class should be able to perform better on its own that with a party just by mashing one button over and over again. Or no class ever should be able to use an ability that can f*cking instagib a bloody lvl 23 high dragon on nightmare difficulty (310k HP, one buffed Thousand Cuts, dragon dead in few seconds... when I forgot to use one buff, I had a time to detonate Mark of Doom for 300k).

I wonder how many PC players are using the CE and cheat with it? I bet its more then the gold/duplicate exploit is used

CE IMO is justified with how crappy the interface is for the pc controls. I just feel bad for the console players since there are no file editing for them.

They better not get rid of chest farming. It's the only way to get any good weapons/armor schematics. They can fix the amulet exploit but leave the farming trick alone, I'd be ok with that.

Sorry you got banned, OP. People like us are getting overfed with the way we've been treated so we use verbal insults as a result to get more attention. Hopefully things will calm down soon.

Usually Gibbed works on the Bioware save editors. But he hasn't even hinted at one being made for DAI yet. According to other sites I've been checking out the saves are encrypted and it is taking some effort to crack them. So there has been very little progress on a save editor.

When a save editor ever comes out, or if I get a quad core for my pc, or if they ever adjust the resource farming, then I'll be getting the patch. Until then..

And CE is difficult to use I would think. I mean it seems to be idk I haven't used it so I can't say for certain. Trainers would be the best bet, especially since there are ones that allow you to either adjust the quantity of resources, gold, influence, power, etc with just a push of a button. PC users really aren't affected by this patch in the least and have no reason not to get this patch as it only benefits them.

Now that its gone more dragon bone and other mats better drop more often, if i want dragon armor for all my warriors and dragon bone made weapons for all my party members then i should be able too

I'll admit I went a little overboard. Having 2 warnings also will keep me reigned in for a while as well. I do like these forums because I like the atmosphere and heated discussions. It's what I'm good at. Still I know this isn't /v/ and I can't act like it is. It's taking an adjustment for me after spending 10 years on /b/

If you want a aw to take it seriously then get it trending on Twitter. BW is much better responding to that rather than the forums.

#DAIitemdupeFTW or something like that.

I dislike Twitter.

These days we have the technology to have a video chat with anyone, anywhere on the planet... or in orbit. We can send huge amounts of data. Text, pictures, videos. We can send data files that allow the receiver to create something with a 3D printer. Everyone and their dog has a cellphone.

We have means of communication past generations dreamed of. What do we do with it? We place an artificial limit of 140 characters on it, send meaningless spam and use up half the characters with stupid hashtags.

This is the BioWare forum. This right here should be the very first place where they read and respond. This should be where we get the news. Not on gaming sites, not on Facebook and certaintly not on Twitter.

Seems these days BioWare only responds when they can't hide the issue.

Well, I get the idea of twitter. Quick updates in real time.
I just don't get how trendies let it consume them.
Part of that instant gratification generation I suppose.

ugh, I feel bad for the guys that will never get to experience the game with it

Some of us would like to focus on combat and builds instead of grinding for hours.  I mean damn it usually takes 20 minutes of farming to get an enemy to drop the fade-touched version.

It is a little much. All those 250 hour gave save files out there? In a game that takes 12 to beat

I spent five hours in the Arbor Wilds during "What Pride Had Wrought."

Five hours.

Why five hours? Because that's how long it took me to farm up both fade-touched versions of imperial vestment cotton from shadow sentinels (AFAIK, the only mob that drops them).

Wonder if I can sue Bioware for my therapy bills.
