I spent five hours in the Arbor Wilds during "What Pride Had Wrought."

Five hours.

Why five hours? Because that's how long it took me to farm up both fade-touched versions of imperial vestment cotton from shadow sentinels (AFAIK, the only mob that drops them).

Wonder if I can sue Bioware for my therapy bills.

Yes. Try that. "Well, to be fair, my client was really looking forward to making their video game character's big beardy boyfriend wear pink armor that can make bad guys explode."

ugh, I feel bad for the guys that will never get to experience the game with it

Some of us would like to focus on combat and builds instead of grinding for hours.  I mean damn it usually takes 20 minutes of farming to get an enemy to drop the fade-touched version.

Yeah but then why are you grinding for it? It isn't like you need it or anything. Focus on combat and builds. Truthfully they should remove all that fade touched stuff because if takes the already overpowered crafting system and cranks it up to 11.

What you're really saying is, "You're doing it wrong, OP. Ignore that highly-marketed aspect of the game and play the way I am."

Or you could just play the game like it was meant to be played. Exploiting and modding just shows you can't make do with what you're given. I never had a problem getting good gear for my team because majority of players aren't going to use every single person you acquire.

I can play the game perfectly fine with what I am given.

It's a matter of adding more TOTALLY MINDLESS F*CKING TASKS to my already long list of mindless tasks to complete. It has totally removed half the fun from this game.

Can I get you a ladder so you can get off your high horse?

Stupid. You don't like it don't use it. Don't make assumptions about other users who want it back.

No need to feed the trolls.
There's a lot of animosity regarding this patch but let's try to keep it civil.
Calling someone stupid is one of the fastest way to get this thread locked

If you want tons of a certain material, that's what mods are for. Get Cheat Engine, farm up ONE of the item, Use the inventory editor for CE to get more of it. The game was not meant to have the exploits for chests or buy mode, if you want to change something that is NOT a bug, that's where third party tools and mods come in. (Same for the Skyhold outfit btw.)

Thanks for the xbox 360 / PS3 / XboxOne / PS4 players!

If the game is enjoyable only by using mods made by third party, then the game suffers from serious issues with his own game design.

DAI is not a game of skill, patience, builds or tactics. It is a game relying heavily on pure LUCK. And not the Luck level of your virtual character, no the luck of the player itself. Last time I checked, games relying heavily on luck to determine if they are enjoyable or not are casino games...

Cheating isn't always something to be proud of as stated. However using a exploit glitch to save time on a game that already is a time sink on just mining resources and herbs is a time saver. It makes the game easier to get through. Neither myself or my girlfriend want to spend 300 hours on a game for mining resources or herbs alone. We have a life we like to game, we like to watch tv shows together or do other things together.

Gaming isn't our lives but seriously getting rid of an exploit that helps people is just wrong.

I rep that. Duping wasn't game breaking but quite the opposite... it allowed many to enjoy the game fully, without the spending a stupid amount of running around, grinding for resources. Personally, duping enabled me to embrace crafting at its fullest, which was an important part of this game for me.

No I don't need it to beat the game.  However, being able to experiment with unlimited crafting materials adds a lot of replay value to it.  I wouldn't have even bothered with a 2nd or 3rd playthrough had this been fixed upon release.

Did you make an account to reply to this? I've seen a lot of people making accounts just because of this thread. It has over 17,000 views and is the top google response when searching the patch note. 17,000+ views and no response from BW as to why it was needed.
Nothing but guesses.
I've heard it might be related to a pay for DLC. I've heard it might have something to do with another glitch. I've heard it might affect MP. I've heard they needed a line item for the patch and it was an easy fix. Yet these are all guesses and nobody knows why.

Which is garbage on BW's end. They should just come out and say why they did this. Give a reason to the madness. Otherwise it just makes them look bad.

Of all the bugs though this is what they fix? Doesn't make the game harder just more of a grind and destroys replayability

Edit: plus the CCO says their games are too hard to learn lol

I'd planned to post about this myself.

This game is full to the brim with annoying bugs. From the mildly annoying (graphical glitches) through the highly disruptive (the one that freezes up the game when trying to save) to the completely plot-breaking (Dorian's questline).
And yet of all the things to "patch", Bioware opt to get rid of the things that are actually USEFUL and add to gameplay. Things that people want to use, and for that matter were completely optional.

You know what that is?
Trolling.

Plain and simple.

O'course there ARE a few players arguing against such glitches... but they might as well be arguing against flavours of dog-food they don't like. The beneficial glitches don't influence their playthroughs if they don't choose to use them, so what the hell do they have opinions on things that don't involve nor concern them for?

For the time being I'm going to see if I can uninstall the patch at least long enough to dupe-up the items / influence I need without it doing something stupid like telling me I can't load the save (wouldn't surprise me)...

They aren't making anything "harder" by "fixing" optional exploits that can't really be considered bugs.

According to an earlier post you can't:

I made the mistake of loading the patch and then making a save. if you do that your screwed. Even if you unload the patch and try to revert to an earlier save it wont let you open with out the patch being installed.

According to an earlier post you can't:

...  I'll have to try it for myself.
I didn't mean to load the patch, but I pressed the wrong button when loading up the game.
And if it doesn't let me load the game with the patched save...  well, I'll probably just quit playing the game until someone makes a Save Editor for it. But honestly, not letting us load saves from later patch-states is just an unnecessary dick-move.

Frankly the idea of trying to tackle the higher difficulties without dragon armour / weapons is not one I even want to consider.   Even "Casual" difficulty was annoyingly tough at times until I managed to beat the first dragon and get my luminous orange gear.

Not sure but someone said you CAN so long as you don't create a save(even autosave) after patch

That sounds about par for the course for games that pull this sort of screwy move.
Also completely useless.
All my existing savegames were either made on Patch 2 or Patch 3.  Getting rid of Patch 3 wouldn't revert my console to Patch 2.

Obvious troll is obvious, but I am gonna take the bait anyway, I hope you are happy ;) The game is not hard, it is laughably easy from a certain point. There is no single challenging aspect in it, unless you count the grind, fetch quets and gazillion of useless colectibles as being challenging for your sanity. Grinding materials is not hard, a trained monkey could f5 - loot silverite - f9 all day long. It is only tedious and boring as hell. BG2 was a pretty challenging game on higher difficulties where your party members could permanently die, even DA2 was challenging on nightmare since bosses had millions of HP and there was more time for you to make an error. Did those games involved a lot of grinding? None.

Gamers are complaining because of BW's priorities, there are bugs that prevent people from even playing the game, there are various audio and graphical glitches, there are hilarious balance oversights (instagibbing a lvl 23 dragon on nightmare? no problem), etc... Yet BW chooses to fix a glitch, that actually made their game less of a chore to play.

DA2 was never hard really. Even before they nerfed the difficulty with a patch, it was incredibly easy to solo. Almost as easy as Origins really. DAI was difficult as the beginning but once you get a specialization it because pretty damn easy.

Incredibly easy to solo? Ancient rock wraith was for sure a snore-fest... :) Or running around pillars for half an hour to avoid getting IK in your face from Arishok. Or those lieutenant lvl assassins (or Varric's brother that could IK the warrior tank if one wasn't quick enough with Stonewall.) It was not brutal or unforgiving, god no, but it was more challenging than both DAO and DAI (the only challenging thing in DAO was GoA DLC if one wasn't a healer or didn't bring a lot of potions). DAI is only tedious in the beginning because of ridiculous respawns and very limited amount of potions, but it certainly is not hard. And once you get to specializations you can beat the game with 1 button spam (or you know, instagibbing dragons and pretty much everything in your path by using 1 ability).
