I don't see why Bioware is choosing to focus on this issue, out of all of them. That being said, I also didn't have too much difficulty getting my party adequately outfitted for the proper areas. It seems very much a 'meh' fix, for a 'meh' problem, considering most of the difficulty in finding gear/schematics was either making gold (which seemed to rain down) or finding the vendors, which a google search can tell anyone.

It's not like this is the only thing they fixed. This was most likely one of the things they could fix comparatively easily at this stage, like the rest of the patch.

I think everyone is missing the point, yes, i can solo on nightmare if i want.

it's about the loot, looking cool, feeling powerful or whatever the hell you want, it's a single player game FFS, if i want to cheat (which i don't) i want the right to do so, (is it harming anyone? no) and play the game with the armor or weapon of my choice, with no limits. This game doesn't have the best loot system, schematics can be a pain in the ass to find the ones you want, so you can't farm for everything, some stuff you can only get with glitches (like well, dragon bone and all schematics).

Oh I don't disagree. I don't really mind either way, since I've been very lucky to have a mostly bug free game, but I've seen so many negative comments regarding the glitchiness of the game that I'm wondering how many of those issues will be addressed as well. Either way, I'm a happy camper.

A skip combat button would be nice. I'd give the game a 7 out of 10 instead of a 6 if they would let me skip the combat. I got tired of button mashing rather quickly.

Yep. As long as you disabled automatic updating before the patch was released, you can avoid it forever.

is the update up yet? or did they just release patch notes?

Just disabled auto update, after i go bonkers with the char i don't play anymore, i'll turn it back on

Fire Flask, Thousand Cut. Spam, rinse and repeat. Even better if you're a ranger and don't want to be hit by melee.

How come Thousand Cuts work when you don't have a cutting weapon equipped?

No. The game just assumes you're using daggers, or the ones that come with you automatically when you unequip everything on a rogue I figure. It's not uncommon for people to wear more than one type of weapon for narrative purpose or gameplay purpose. Exemple: Murder Knife.

More dumbing down then, ok. That list is getting long.

Focus abilities are considered to be magic from an old time, I think. Solas explained it briefly after the Haven invasion and right after the Dawn Will Come song. I figure this is an old magic that isn't strictly reserved to mages, that each class can perform under special training. Anyways, taking this game too seriously is just going to cause us headaches on the long run.

Indeed. Best to just blindly accept everything without any critical thought about glaring mistakes.

the way i like to think, there are magical things in the world, even in ordinary people, mages just have a front-seat with the fade, so they can do all kind of crazy stuff. But i like how they put characters like Cole, his abilities match up pretty good to what he is.

Cole fits with the lore, really.

Everyone else being able to do magic doesn't. Only a few people are born with the ability to do magic, and without training it is a disaster waiting to happen.  Letting every damn chump on the planet be able to use magic, pretty much nullifies the whole concept of the circle, and the entire magic system of the game.

The way i think of it, it's like a regular guy can make grenades, mages can make nukes.

The game sorts of puts a way that it's a grey area of what's magic and what's not, i say we leave it at that and not overthink it (like when we get on the horse and everyone else disappears, it's a game element more than anything else, some can be very badly explained, others not even that, and it happens in all games)

I know. But the problem is that they do explain it. They even published a book filled with Lore that explains how stuff works too. And then they just do the complete opposite of what they have told us. It is just extremely strange.

Tempest itself is okay. Its just most Rogue focus abilities are easily exploitable to basically destroy a single target in seconds even if its, say, a dragon. They're honestly worse than Knight Enchanter.

Focus abilities are considered to be magic from an old time, I think. Solas explained it briefly after the Haven invasion and right after the Dawn Will Come song. I figure this is an old magic that isn't strictly reserved to mages, that each class can perform under special training.

No they aren't and no he doesn't. Each spec gives a fairly clear basis for what it is and why it is as laid out by the trainer and focus abilities are just an extension of that within the context of the spec. Solas comments on any new magical forms you learn as a Mage ( He even likes Necromancy ) but doesn't exactly have much insight to offer on you building landmines in your bedroom at Skyhold as a Rogue.

Rogue is actually the only class that is 100% mundane in nature from a story perspective. Its Focus abilities are basically treated as feats of skill so amazing they only seem superhuman. Which is reflected in the flavour text. Whereas Warrior has two supernatural specs in Templar and Reaver. But those are explained as not being magic or in the case of Templar at least not what anyone understands as magic or even perhaps anti-magic ( "Reaching out to something older" "Reinforcing reality" ). The Reaver trainer is pretty clear its not magic its Dragon Koolaid.

Cole actually has the most insight into specs of any character, oddly enough. ( He can describe exactly how all three of the Mage specs work in terms of the Fade, as well as how Templar abilities work ). Party banter with Cassandra will also reveal how Templar abilities function in terms of magic ( Channelling the Fade makes reality mutable, Templar abilities are the opposite, they make reality rigid and unchangeable. Thus denying the way magic works. ).

Cole's abilities are "magic" based in a sense that he is a spirit of the Fade. They only emulate a Rogue. If you watch him in combat he doesn't actually go into stealth like other rogues. When he's "stealthed" his shadow is a different colour than standard Rogue stealth.

...I sense I am rambling.

As I recall the original issue is you are bad at resource management and overly concerned with having your armour be a very specific shade of red or yellow?

I'm okay with being distracted from that, personally. :D

I have to come down on the side of all exploits being fixed. I appreciate that it gives some players more choice, but things working incorrectly is not really a suitable solution to poor design (if we accept that limited resources or gathering are a problem in the game). Hopefully they will come up with a system that improves your gameplay experience and actually works the way it's intended.

Yeah. We console players don't have access to the console commands to give us infinite x, y and z. This cheat shouldn't had been fixed at all, as it was entirely optional and didn't ruin Multiplayer's sessions at all.

The console only lets you control the performance overlay and some post-process graphics settings.

There are no game commands whatsoever that I'm aware of.
