Yup, in one of his terribly bad threads he insulted me personally (both with and without name-calling) for making his arguments look weak. He as usually didn't have anything to attack my arguments with, so he chose to attack me. I said something that he should stop being a douche and that in the whole thread he acted like a jerk, or something along the lines. I then reported his post for being insulting (which it was) and got a warning and a ban myself Hilarious, I know. Well, what can I say, I took the bait.

 

And now he is saying that name-calling is not polite in a reply to a post in which I said he is baiting us to call him names in the hope we would get banned Like what the hell. And then he wonders why we think he is just mocking and trolling us. Which is all he does.

 

It is quite sad that trolling, harassing and baiting is allowed here, whereas taking the bait will get you banned.

One site did it the best. So crafty they didn't even need mods. If someone was harassing you, you could simply mute them and not have to hear them ever again. Everyone had this ability and it worked.

I actually started a similar topic once, cause I too was very bummed when I heard they removed the exploit. I myself haven't downloaded any patches since I heard, so I can still use them. The main reason I choose to keep them is so that I can feel safe crafting weapons and armor.... I am not good at making stat wise good armour, plus I like to dress my Inquisitors according to their personalities and how they would like to dress. Much like in Fable my kindhearted Inkys wear white and gold and/or other pastel-like colours, while my douchy Inkys wear dark intimidating colours.

 

My point is, if it wasn't for the exploit I wouldn't dare to craft anything because so many materials are waaaaay too rare or exist in the quantity of just one, like the Essence of Perfection. I wouldn't know when the best time was to use these materials in order to not waste any. Now that I can duplicate everything I can make relatively good armour and weapons, without loosing any materials in case I screw up. Not to mention save hours and hours of game time, not having to travel from area to area to gather mats. I don't like it, but I also understand those who love gathering materials, we all have our different preferences and that's okay! Then just don't use the exploit, it's as simple as that.

 

Ofcourse I like making stuff that I feel make my game more aesthetically enjoyable, for me, I don't deny that having imo good looking armour and weapons on my characters makes me feel more at home in the game, but mostly I love the exploit because I can safely experiment and slowly learn how to make the best out of limited materials. No hate on us exploiters, some of us really don't use it just to "cheat" as some call it, I genuinely love it because I feel safer with it and would very much appreciate it if there was some way in the future to get rare materials in an easier way. I don't either like spending hours and hours farming for mats, esp fade-touched, when I'd much rather use that time to play the story the game is about instead, with well crafted, good looking character-fitting armour.

 

For now I am not complaining since I can still do this, but come a future where I have to download the patches, I know I'll probably just stop playing all together since the thought of not looking right, possibly failing at crafting and farming for mats, makes me exhausted and bored already...

They're welcome to their opinion, and it is an open forum so as long as everyone's keeping it civil.

 

All one can do is state their own arguments and hope they can at least create some understanding, if not agreement, between the ideas and feeling of others.

 

After that it's not usually worth arguing a point, particularly on the internet. ^.^;;

You have to delete the game and reinstall it again.

It won't do you any good though, as you can't load your save without applying the patch first(apparently, the game does not like loading saves that were made with a newer version of the game).

Pretty stupid IMO.

the thing is you're confused and you convince yourself that people that disagree with you want to "bait" you into calling them names, but I can assure you that's not the issue. There is no baiting. It's all in your head. And then you sometimes feel like name calling and stuff and you do and you report people, but mods aren't that stupid, they read the discussion to see the context therefor it's you that get banned. But ofc you think that they just don't like you for posting anti bioware posts while the truth is you're the one being impolite...

I didn't buy the game on disk, so I couldn't do that anyway. I tried and it downloaded the patches with it.

Why pointless? He is kind of guy who always got to have the last word, no matter what. Spinning the truth, twisting words and putting them into someone elses mouth is his way of communication.

you mean apart from that 3rd party tools are mostly illegal? You know all the EULA sort of things that says that you can't alter the programming code without permission...

 
Then when I explained that it is not the case since you don't alter the original program by simply cheating using memory editor program he came with something that shows that he has completely no idea about and yet he felt the need to keep arguing:
 

first of all you have to change the code if you want to use 3rd party program. No matter what program you run and what data you enter wherever you like, the game won't take it into consideration until you force the game to do so.

 
Even most greenhorn memory editor newbie user knows, that cheating with these tools doesn't involve any kind alternation or moding to the original game files.

Now I am 100% sure you have 0 clue how that works. Memory editor runs independently. I modify random access memory on the run, no need to touch the executable file or the code itself. Game writes and reads the current state of the game from RAM. To cheat, I modify that portion of ram. I DON'T TOUCH THE ORIGINAL FILE.

 

And now is the final Part. Here you can see the two things I mentioned before.

 

oh just make your mind already... Apples and oranges. You were talking about modding (which is from word modify if you didn't know...) the game, now you're talking about altering random values (or cheating, possibly creating bots...). And your argument have no logic anyway. Go read EULA and you'll see that this is also covered in it.  Your 100% appearently have same value as your word...

 

See how he suddenly changed the goal? Now he claimed I was talking about modding the game not about the cheating. You can clearly see from the previous post what was being talked about.

 

Second. He has no idea how these things works, and no idea about programming terms and stuff at all.

Just read it again and look at how I mentioned editing the RAM (random acess memory) and the guy confused it with altering random values. He can't tell the difference between those two simple things.

 

Of course not everyone need to have the knowledge about these things but why would someone argue about something he has no clue about ?

Because always having the last word is his way to discuss.

 

 

Summary. Ignore, in my honest opinion, is all you can and should do.

Calling names will get you in trouble. Being polite won't help you. Being reasonable won't help you either, this kind of person will always find the way to spin the conversation no matter how blatant it is just to have the last word in it.

no sane company release game along with cheats. Cheats=bad, fixing bugs=good. If you don't like game mechanics, don't play the game. If you propose game mechanics that would let's say triple amount of mats you find, fine. But all you do is just whine about that they took away your exploit and you want it back. It took them several games to repair code so the bug would be fixed. Do you know how much human hours they had to put into it?
 
and try to be more realistic. Which company EVER returned an exploit back to the game after they fixed it?

So ? Yes, no mention here about modding. Only about cheating. Please stop derailing this thread.

I had a similar encounter with him in the "Are You Going To Ever Preorder Again?" thread. He never responded to the core of my arguments unless he was able to take it out of context or tweak it to fit his counter-argumentation, which was nonsensical even after doing all that. I honestly believe I have never have to deal with a person that oblivious to reason and I have played WoW for like 7 years, I play DOTA 2 with russians (since they invade all the servers) and so on.

 

And now he claims he is not trolling or baiting anyone into calling him names. Which in fact is all he is doing. There is the possibility he is doing it indavertently, doesn't realize it and just can't see how nonsensical his argumentation is, but that would mean only one thing... And I don't know if I should laugh at him or pity him. The bit about name calling and banning is just sad no matter how I look at it. Sad how he completely skipped the fact that he was insulting and I mean seriously insulting, deriding, belittling and name calling other people first just because they were able to point out how nonsensical his argumentation was (in a weak thread about Mages vs. Templars which was based on how much he likes Mages and not on anything found in the game and other lore materials). And then he says mods are not stupid for banning a person who responded to that by pointing out someone is acting like a jerk

But to bring my post back on topic. Excellent post Elyunha. BW created an interesting crafting system, but way too much restricted its usability until the very late game and only for those who would spent like 30 hours of their lives on a mindless grind, when there is only pathetically weak Corypheus left. For example I finished every possible side quest, visited every possible location on every map and yet I only found 5 revenant hearts. For the tier 3 rune 6 are needed. Also it took me to kill 70+ Snouflers just to get one of their fade-touched leathers and when I was trying to find fade-touched silverite for hit on guard masterwork, I mined like 400 silverite ore in the process. And ofc I found the best Hidden Blades fade-touched cloth after I was leaving Emprise du Lion for good after killing countless templars and everything there was in the zone (just before going for Corypheus, since there was nothing else left). I never felt the grind in WoW was that much grindy, boring and dull and I have played the game for 7 years doing hc pve raiding. If one wanted in DAI for his party to both look nice and have a useful equipment at the same time, it was just ridiculous how much grind would be required to fulfill that. Now there is at least the possibility to change the color, but still... All those fade-touched materials and schematics are not gonna get found by themselves.

Also /v/ /pol/ & /b/ all unanimously have a negative view of DAI and consider it a travesty in gaming. I've been on that site since 2005 and pretty much it has shaped me in a lot of ways but with what EA has done to Bioware and the bad decisions BW is making regarding this game and removing SP exploits that hurt nobody I have to agree somewhat.

They need to bring the exploits back because without them, the SP has gone stale to me. I only even play the MP now because my friends are great and the MP makes me go crazy more than anything. It's finally mostly fixed at least.

Well, I mostly visited /s/, because... you know... bewbs. Honestly I never liked /v/ much or for that matter the whole site (except /s/), too much trolls for my taste But yeah, they are right in many things and now I would most likely agree with them more than in the past, especially about BW, EA and DAI.
