How exactly is an RPG supposed to be played? Is it not up to the player to decide that? I haven't noticed any directions on how to play the game from the developers, have you?

Indeed the player is more than able to decide how to play the game, including any clever use of game mechanics.

It appears that BioWare had a particular view about some of the mechanics which they deemed were a little too clever.

However, post-patching, players are just as able as before to decide how to play the game, within the boundaries of the updated game mechanics.

So what are chances of this being patched back in?

Honestly this has killed the replay value of the game. The mindless farming/grinding of mats may add 'hours' to game to those willing to do it but seriously, it's ridiculous. Not going to start another character to go run around looking for Everite all day. Who's idea was this?

Finally had a chance to get back to this game after being too busy at work... and this is bullshit!   I was going to do a 2nd play through, but welp... screw it.  I'm not sinking another 140hrs into this game to beat it the "right" way again.

Hehehe. "The right way"

We should coin that phrase to be a kind of double entendré to mean "the way only they think is right for DLC"

Said DLC doesn't even solve anything so this makes zero sense.

You can spend over 200 hours playing this game! Too bad 150 of that is grinding for resources and schematics.

I don't understand the people arguing against the ones who liked the glitch. In which way did their money/resource glitching effect your gameplay? Not in the slightest. Multiplayer glitches would be a completely different case, but singleplayer? Who gives a damn about what others do in their singleplayer game?

I'm not going to restart this game and have to farm resources besides the stupid schematics farm. Good thing I glitched ~2000 of every material on my canon playthrough before the patch was added.

There was a guy back in this thread and his reason was -  everyone, even in SP game, should be required to put equal effort to gain something. The sole knowledge of there being people who can achieve the same result with less work, lessened his experience. Yeah, I know how it sounds...

Then there are "play it as it was meant to be played" people.

And many more trivial reasons I can't remember now, I wouldn't pay any attention to them.

Apart from "it was fixed because it was a bug" there weren't any other reasonable arguments in this thread.

The game is so easy why do you feel the need to cheat? Who in there right mind complains when something gets fixed? You are literally complaining because you can't cheat? NEWS FLASH: CHEATING IS WRONG and pathetic. Grow up the exploits are never coming back.

Because I like.

Who in there right mind complains when something gets fixed?

People for whom those exploits were more helpful than not.

You are literally complaining because you can't cheat?

I can and do cheat all days long with CE. Guys on consoles don't have this luxury and I can sympathize with them on this matter. That's why I post. Who do you ?

NEWS FLASH: CHEATING IS WRONG and pathetic.

So is your post.

Grow up the exploits are never coming back.

Never hurts to ask. Oh and AFAICT unlike you, I did grow up long time ago.

Bottom line imo is you can not exploit a single player game. If it was multiplayer or if your 'game ranking' was posted vs others there would be an argument for it.

This duplication was in both games that had different engines and find it hard to believe they just now were able to 'fix' it.

I just don't see why they would turn so many people off from multiple playthroughs. Doing the harvest game once is more then enough.

My fear is that they are setting us up for micro transactions later.

I don't "need to cheat". It was just a comfortable, time saving glitch which never hurt someone. I don't see the appeal in mindlessly spending hours to farm resources. I did it once with T3 schematics for my canon playthrough and it was enough for thousand lives. BioWare is not to blame for fixing it because they can adress bugs/glitches at their own good will. It's sad because I won't be able to do another maxed-out playthrough; but yeah, other games to play.

Removing the Amulets of Power from chests on the other side was a pretty dumb move to prevent chest farming - if the removal was intended.

Well, you can. As in you set up and/or acknowledge the rules and then admit when you broke them.

But yes if you unabashedly exploit and consider it just part of your game, then its not cheating. 'Cheat Codes' cheated the 'original game'... but just to make it a 'different game'. Since its your game, there isn't any cheating of the 'different game'. The 'different game' is all that matters.

If I set up a Monopoly game and collectively decide with the other players to minimize the mortgage costs for property, that's not 'cheating', but just changing the rules. Using an exploit in a SP game is effectively just changing the rules for yourself.

That still doesn't change the aspect of designer creative ownership over the game though. Thus patches that remove exploits. You want to exploit, express your displeasure so Bioware has a better mind about it in the future. Otherwise, look to mods. Just my position on this.

While I do not believe Bioware will ever bring back the exploits, this thread is full of decisive, rational and well-explained reasons why the exploits were useful. If you're going to invest the time to write an incendiary post, maybe you should invest enough time to actually read the answers others have given before reducing yourself to the juvenile tactics of calling someone pathetic. Isn't that the grown up way of doing it?

The new overpriced DLC (15 bucks) has new loots and a dragon fight for people who wanted more dragon mats.

This is true, those rational reasons persuaded me not be concerned by the exploits that at first I was less forgiving of.

I also do not believe they are coming back and that the Black Emporium remains the main hope to gain additional materials outside of PC platform 'cheats' (assuming that the less-reasonable posts in this thread have not hacked off and deterred BioWare from doing so).

New loots mean absolutely nothing. It doesn't allow you to get a bunch of the rare minerals, it doesn't have any superior method of getting any type of resource easier, etc.

It has one dragon you can fight. Woopdie ****** do. That doesn't do anything that you were complaining about.

And the DLC isn't overpriced. It offers content at a reasonable price while it does not fix the problem that the glitch fixed.

I am holding out hope for the Black Emporium. I do like the tinting table and it certainly helps me. I love to have my team dressed in similar armor and colors.

I hate grinding though. Honestly, I hate it. The loot system is so broken and I am hopeful they'll resolve some of those issues too. A friend bought me the new DLC for an early birthday gift, but I haven't had time to play it--a few people told me that "bosses" drop better loot, so we'll see. I would love to see gathering, agents usage, power point usage and the rng system re-evaluated and fixed. The Black Emporium could certainly have a hand in that. We'll see.

Also, I think it's awesome you kept an open mind and was more than willing to see arguments for "the other side". I wish more people on the BSN would do that.

On the plus side; if this game was in Japan it would be doing just as well as it is here. If not better because of the grinding. Idk why, but the Japan gaming culture just absolutely love grinding.

Says the guy who keeps whining at BioWare and being immature about it on a lot of threads. I think you're just on these boards to look for trouble, buddy.
