Am I the only one who didn't even know that this was a bug? O.o

I thought they were just repeatable missions...

It's not a bug nor exploit. It's clever use of game mechanics.

Okay, I must admit I am completely mystified how anyone is having so much trouble with the game they needed to farm anything for hours or think they need four full sets of tier 4 dragon gear to beat anything even on nightmare mode. How bad are you at this? >.>

It's not being this bad when the game is empty, to begin with. They need to respawn the monsters, the mobs and dragons if they want me to stop using those exploits because by the end of the game, DAI feels like Ghost Town meets Journey.

There is another exploit.. let's hope they don't fix all of them. If they do, I'm totally ***ed because getting gold in this game is a nightmare. 90% of the loot is worthless junk and the tier3 schematics cost a ton of money. How am I supposed to outfit my team now ?

I have a hard time understanding why these exploits are such a priority for the devs ? I think the game has far more important issues that need fixing.

It only really stop the duplicating of dragon materials for t3 and under you can do the save/load trick with bags/sacks to get materials same way the schematic farm is done.

What? Most zones start full of crap. With most zones the spawns are reduced as you stabilize a zone during its main quest lines. Eliminating a mob faction's base of operations reduces its spawns because from a story standpoint you just wiped out their power base. Plus certain factions expand into lower level zones post Skyhold putting Red Templar spawns in Hinterlands, etc.

If you have somehow actually run out of things to kill it means you have literally cleared every zone then somehow broke your game in which case what the fark do you still need gear for?

There's also 10 dragons. How many do you need and why do you need more than 10? There is literally nothing in the game on any difficulty level that requires a full party in T4 dragon gear.

Exactly
The game just dies
There is no reason to play it anymore it seems

By finding and selling the other 10%. Because that 10% is typically fixed loot and sells for 2-5k gold for nice epic accessories and what not. If you're not ending up with more gold than you know what to do with post then you're doing something severely wrong and its definitely not the game's fault. Stop trying to justify using an exploit by claiming it's the game's fault for making you use it. Its not the game's fault, its just you. If you want to use an exploit fine, whatever, that's your prerogative in a single player game. But don't pretend you're being victimized and forced to use it.

I want to continue playing with my main Inquisitor, what the hell is wrong with that? Why can't I enjoy going back to maps and kill random monsters scaled to my level just so I can enjoy new builds with the characters that accompany me or new tactics? Once the game is done by 115 hours, I got no desire to go back and restart from scratch.

You clear out every single zone and every quest in the game ( a rather involving and time consuming feat ) and then complain there's no reason to play anymore? What exactly were you expecting? Last I checked Bioware doesn't possess an Infinity Gem for development purposes. So of course you will eventually run out of content. Never mind that you're complaining about a lack of content along side threads and reviews that talk about how there's too MUCH stuff to do.

I have gotten plenty of money without using the farming trick but the main problem that DAI has is that chests don't respawn after you take all the items. If chests would be on an internal clock and respawn after a while, we wouldn't be having the issues of running out of money. That can technically happen unless you feel like farming materials for 30 minutes but who wants to do that. I didn't get DAI to be a farming game, if I wanted a farming game, I'd put Borderlands 2 or Diablo 3 in.

That's a different argument from claiming you need to exploit because there isn't enough stuff to farm.

People are free to enjoy their games the way they want it. If I want to farm, loot and grind monsters, it's my damn choice. I want to enjoy the game but if I can't because it's a ghost town, I think I'm allowed to request more stuff to play with.

It could technically happen, save continued mob drops, but by the point it technically happens you could gild all of Skyhold in gold. I mean on my nightmare playthrough so far I've been able to purchase every schematic I needed ( plus a few I didn't for fashion

s sake ) as well as sink 100k into the Influence merchant in Skyhold for lack of anything else to do with the money. There's no way you need to exploit gold.

Bigger letters and colours don't actually make you more right, FYI and turning this into some sort of weird righteous indignation thing is just silly. Never mind as I already pointed out that's a different argument.

What harm does infinite materials / gold really do? You are NOT competing with anyone online. Single Player and MP are completely separate.

There is a philosophical issue at stake here,

do you play the game within resource and goal limitations (for challenge)?

Or is the game a sandbox game where you can just 'motherlode' yourself infinite gold and influence?

Ok, we could ditch the levelling system and just allow people to pick a level up to 25 for all your characters as you wish

and while we're about it, have any weapons and armours and skip any main quests you don't like.

No.

It's an exploit, it's a loophole, a cheat, not working as intended, which undermines the way the game is structured.

So what does it matter in Single Player? Simply that it's not that kind of game: It is a fundamental part of the enjoyment/challenge.

perfectionists, right? /sigh

if the crafting system allowed me to modify schematic slots, i wouldn't farm. but it doesn't. and i want my gear to be perfect - functional and pretty (because i can make it pretty, it has to be pretty)

There is always cheatengine for PC players. I know there is a similar tool for PSP, so maybe there is something similar for "bigger" consoles too.

Anyway you can always copy your savegame from console to PC, use any HEX editor to change what you want directly and then transfer it back, but that require some kind of knowledge.

Many kind of games can become fun if you're allowed to play them the way you like it. If that exploit didn't cause any other problems/bugs - that means it wasn't affecting you nor your enjoyment/challenge in any way. On the other hand telling others what should be enjoying for them is not that ok.

Does this mean my second, possible third and more games are going to have me grinding for resources like a goddamn mmo, in my own personally singleplayer experience? What the f*ck. I dont get that mindset. Boohuu, so the SP has a bug or whatever you call that allow you to duplicate mats and gold, big fudging deal. Jeez.

Well suppose its a good thing we got people figuring out modding, and trainers for the big bucks.

Usually I dislike exploits and will avoid using them.  I was near the end of my first playthrough before I discovered that chests respawn.  At first I thought it was a bug, then I wondered if maybe I was supposed to farm them.  The reason why it wasn't so clear cut was because of the abysmal drop rate of schematics if you go around emptying every loot container you find.  My first character was a mage, and after 110 hours the only T3 mage schematics I had were the ones I'd purchased.  Instead I was drowning in dagger schematics.  There simply aren't enough T3 loot chests in the game to give you a reasonable smattering of class weapon/armour schematics if you only have one attempt on each chest.  Hopefully they'll address that before changing loot respawns.

Bingo. When there's not enough sand in the box, you improvise.

So what does it matter in Single Player? Simply that it's not that kind of game: It is a fundamental part of the enjoyment/challenge.

And who died and made you boss of how people should play thier game?

I've never played 'Dragon Age' for "the challenge", or because I care for the combat at all (and to be frank I really don't), I play because I love the story and the characters. That is what has made these games any fun at all for me. So if I want to use the crafting material/gold dupe that is totally optional and has no other effect on gameplay so I can use the T3 gear shematics from the vendor in the Hissing Wastes (that cost 25k a piece!) strictly so my party can look cool in the cutscenes at the end of the game because that's what I enjoy, that's my choice.

The term "sandbox" has been used a lot to describe this game, even by official sources. So why take out a small, and again totally optional, exploit that made the game a lot more enjoyable for some people who want to play the game strictly for that type of sandbox experience?

Also it should be noted that even with this patch, PC players will (eventually) be able to do practically anything they want via mods anyway - while those of use who prefer consoles will get a way to simply have fun with crafting (without having to worry about wasting rare materials) taken away. There's simply no good reason to remove an optional little cheat like this from the single player experience, particularly when there are still other glitches that actually effect gameplay that need to be fixed.

the box stays empty, cheating only helps to empty it even faster
