the box stays empty, cheating only helps to empty it even faster

So what? If the programmers won't add more stuff to loot from, I think it's fair that we use that exploit. Don't agree with me? Fine. But don't trash the people who are sick of waiting for DLCs and more stuff to kill in the game.

People are free to enjoy their games the way they want it. If I want to farm, loot and grind monsters, it's my damn choice. I want to enjoy the game but if I can't because it's a ghost town, I think I'm allowed to request more stuff to play with.

And I'd rather DAI be a racing simulator, but you don't see me shouting and demanding that EA patch the game to make it a racing game. If you want an open-ended sandbox you picked the wrong game.

And who died and made you boss of how people should play thier game?

It's only their game within the designed framework, it's BioWare's right to design that framework.
The exploit was not how it should be played, by design and this fixes it.

... So if I want to use the crafting material/gold dupe that is totally optional and has no other effect on gameplay so I can use the T3 gear shematics from the vendor in the Hissing Wastes (that cost 25k a piece!) strictly so my party can look cool in the cutscenes at the end of the game because that's what I enjoy, that's my choice.

Yes indeed that's your choice (until the patch).

So why take out a small, and again totally optional, exploit that made the game a lot more enjoyable for some people who want to play the game strictly for that type of sandbox experience?

You should know by the beige pyjamas that BioWare are not pandering to the party armour fashionistas  :D
Seriously though, whilst I respect your desire for a sveltely dressed party, I'd be surprised if the majority of those using the exploit have this outcome in mind.

Also it should be noted that even with this patch, PC players will (eventually) be able to do practically anything they want via mods anyway - while those of use who prefer consoles will get a way to simply have fun with crafting (without having to worry about wasting rare materials) taken away. There's simply no good reason to remove an optional little cheat like this from the single player experience, particularly when there are still other glitches that actually effect gameplay that need to be fixed.

People will eventually make mods to turn their mounts into My Little Pony, run naked around Skyhold or transmute demons into Teddy Bears,

but that doesn't mean any of that was as intended.

I'm delighted to see the patch and the 40 things it fixes, particular the multiplayer key drop and clay pots, but I've been quite lucky on XB1 with bugs.

Perhaps BW will release enhancements and DLC that will overcome your disappointment  :) .

Then why does it look exactly like one? Mind to explain me that, Sherlock?

I was going to use the Influence exploit to collect data on what affects the epilogue slide you get re: the state of the Inquisition (Connections, Secrets or Forces) as it's currently fuzzy whether it's perks, war table usage, or both.
The Influence exploit was also a great way to lock in the Inquisition state you want, since enough perks in the right area does seem to make a difference. That will probably be something you can change freely in the Keep, so I'm not too upset.

I agree that not being able to dupe that sweet, sweet white Dragon Scale leather is a fashion catastrophe, however. It's so beautiful. I want everyone in my Inner Circle to have a Dragon Scale outfit.

This is so dumb. Was anyone seriously complaining about this? The dupe didn't hurt anyone or anything, and it's just gonna drive PC players to cheat engine on subsequent playthroughs when gathering materials becomes a giant pain in the ass chore (ie, after the first playthrough).

They should have left this one alone. Good that they fixed the banter bug, but it's bull that we lose the dupe as a price.

Godspeed to the modders, I guess. Hopefully they manage to bust this open real soon.

Cheating is wrong when playing multiplayer sessions. Cheating on single player mode isn't anyone's business but ours. There used to be a time where a lot of games came with cheats for people to enjoy the games the way they wanted. GTA games are a good exemple for this. Don't want to use the cheats? Don't use them. Don't crap on the people who want to use them to save some time if they want to move on fast in the story, or if they got other things to do. Why should you punish other players for something you don't want? It's a feature that has been present since the very first Dragon Age and now it's going to be removed because talked too much about it.

you're  putting gta, in the same category as dragon age.. thoss kinda games, yes, have cheats, and cheat modes. where have rpgs ever en ouraged, or ulized cheating? it goes against the he entire reason behnd "role playing"!

If you don't want to use infinite gold exploits, don't use them. the fact that it's the game doesn't hurt you, or your experience, IN ANY WAY. There is NO competetitive "edge" to get in a single-player game. In fact, i'd say it's malicious and depriving people of fun to remove it.  And what exactly is the downside to keeping it? tell me, how does it change your experience of the game, why do you even CARE?

How is your experience harmed by the existence of an exploit that you choose not to utilize? Maybe my inquisitors aren't concerned with personally harvesting every single elfroot that the inquisition requires.

There are some pretty fundamental design problems with this game that can only be alleviated by exploits. Heaven help us if they patch out the chest save scumming without fixing the categorically awful RNG loot and putting a safeguard against encountering a sea of vitaars on my dwarf rogue.

Different players have different priorities. I like to play the game many times over to see different outcomes. The item exploit complements mine and many others pretty well.

I really, really like DAI. I like it a lot. So much, in fact, that I want to play through the game many times to see all it has to offer. But I would appreciate the option to be able to breeze through it doing what I want, at some point. Not worrying about having the material to craft the items I want to use, for example.

No inherent modding support was a stupid stupid move. And fixing "cheats" in a single player game that affect no one but the person cheating is frivolous.

While I'm personally against using any kind of cheats in a game, if someone wants to use them in a single player game then so be it.  It's their game to play it however they want.  It's only a major issue if it affects multiplayer games.

Cheats are in every genres. Why are you offended by this? As long as it's not hurting MP, why should it bother YOU?

problem is (a part of) the cheaters afterwards complain about difficulty,  to less content or make videos that distort reality (and others use them to complain about it). does anybody believe the guy complaining about to less content begin cheating after finishing the game? no he cheated to roflstomp everything in the game, so finished it way faster and complain afterwards about the lack of tactic and the lack of content. thats the problem, not people at their second playthrough speed things a little bit up

You clear out every single zone and every quest in the game ( a rather involving and time consuming feat ) and then complain there's no reason to play anymore? What exactly were you expecting? Last I checked Bioware doesn't possess an Infinity Gem for development purposes. So of course you will eventually run out of content. Never mind that you're complaining about a lack of content along side threads and reviews that talk about how there's too MUCH stuff to do.

Fix this by allowing enemies to respawn rather than clearing them completely

Most people wouldn't resort to the clever use of game mechanics had it been designed in a less boring but more interesting way.

And what I keep saying, if there was more stuff to kill and better ways to get high tiers materials, people wouldn't HAD to result to the exploit. People use it because the game is made in such a way that we need those powerful equipment to beat the higher level monsters. The simple drops we get in the game aren't enough to give us the optimal stats some people need. The last unique sword that drops somewhere in the game is a level 17 blade and you can easily blade one handed swords that are even more powerful and has higher DPS with the right schematics. Again, those schematics, if purchased, are too expensive and there are not enough ways to make money in this game besides using the exploit or waiting 30 to 60 minutes everytime you send an adviser fetching gold in small portions. It's tedious, annoying and it makes me cuss at my monitor, which is why I don't sent my advisers fetching materials anymore.

Isn't it strange how we only get maybe 5-6 Revenant spawns in the game? If we play the correct way, we'd be only able to craft one tier 3 cleansing rune :/

Why are we busy fixing exploits in a single-player game mode? Hm, BioWare? Why is it any business of yours how people choose to play their legally-purchased game? Methinks there are bad things ahead for modding support...

For the record: I was not even aware people were exploiting, but since it affects NO ONE but the player themselves, why is this even a concern?

While it's painful and not really what people want to hear....

The EASIEST way to get companies like  EA / Bioware to stop fixing exploits?  Stop buying console game systems.  Seriously.

If there is no market for console games, because everyone plays games on PC instead, then they will stop making games that cater to Consoles.  Simple math.

The added benefit, with a PC you get the ability to install and use MODS.  Which often make good games GREAT, and allow you to do other stuff, like play medieval dress-up, all you want.

I do, and it's fun.

Seriously people.  Stop buying consoles and console games and all your console-centric problems will go away.  Join the 'elite' and play PC.  Reap the benefits of freedom.

Join US!!

I really cannot understand why anyone buys consoles to begin with, but if they'd just 'go away' we'd see computer gaming evolve into something truly amazing.
