Hopefully we'll see a Dwarf romance option soon. I hope it's for males (or both males and females).

My Hawkes always had failed romances because they were Varric-sexuals. Varricmance needs to happen, Bioware. :P lol.

David Gaider makes no sense to me. It seems like the series revolves too much around his opinions specifically. Now I don't even want a dwarf romance specifically. I don't really care which race a romance is. But, I don't understand his reasoning that there should be no dwarven romances. He's basically saying that subjective things he finds personally unappealing are grounds for not including something that others want. Here's my simple and logical way to address these concerns:

1. If they are "short, stocky, and hairy" and you don't like that, don't romance a dwarf. Personally I don't know why short or stocky means unattractive, but that should be up to the players to decide. As for hairy, well... most male dwarves have beards, yes, but does this mean Blackwall shouldn't be a romance? I don't recall it mentioning that dwarves are particularly hairy otherwise. Not to mention loads of characters and people oogling over Varric's chest hair.

Solution: Make a romanceable dwarf who is not-so-hairy. Or, preferably, let players decide if they like beards/chest hair/etc.

2. Gaider says dwarven females often "look like 14 year old girls." If this is about player characters, then it's too late. If this is about NPCs, you have nobody to blame but yourselves. Personally, I think elves (male and female) tend to come off looking way younger than dwarves, but that seems to be overlooked by him. (Some posters have pointed that out.)

Solution: Make a romanceable dwarf who does not look/sound like a 14 year old girl. This should be easy enough to do with the right face and voice. If necessary, make her personality seem more mature, or even have her age known.

There. Simple ways to overcome Gaider's "ewww". Sound easy enough? Good.

I don't know what the deal is against a Dwarf romance...considering all the other freak show romances they've got in the games.

On topic: If you play a dwarf in Inquisition, do you still have a dream-conversation with Solas, and then wake up in bed? If so, you can add this to the list of inconsistencies.

I think it must be cause Bioware seems to write human as default and then change things up for other races but not enough, some things always get neglected. Like Morrigan explaining elven history to Dalish elf and your example. They should really take better care of other races.

I headcanon that the Mark is responsible for a Dwarf being able to dream in the Fade, since yes Dwarves do get the Solas and Haven Fade sequence.

Thumbs up here. As for more dwarven experience - we don't have dwarven LI. STILL. After three goddamn games...

Humans have those. A plenty.

Elves have those. A fair share.

There's even a Qunari.

Dwarves - none. Ever. WHY?

Gaider doesn't like writing dwarf romances. It doesn't just apply to Dragon Age. Baldur's Gate 2 was the first BioWare game to ever have romances, and dwarves, gnomes, half-orcs and halflings were playable races, but unlike humans, elves and half-elves, they could not engage in romance with the LI options (1 was a human, 1 was a drow (a dark elf), 1 was a half-elf, and the other was an avariel, which were winged elves). He was a writer in that game, too.

Gaider's kind of a fictional racist.

In my opinion, it seems he took issue with the idea of writing a dwarven romance himself which does not mean there would not be a dwarven romance at all in the future, merely that he wouldn't be the one writing it.

Yeah... also he wrote that four years ago apparently.  And his comments are really.... ever read any golden-age science fiction?  Or even older?  I mean like Bester from the 40s old.  Smart guys, genius even - talented writers, great stories.  And almost all examples of why sheltered geniuses shouldn't be allowed to write about women or romance without supervision ;).

More seriously, I would expect that by now a single person's tastes in attractiveness do not determine the entire range of story available.  I would also honestly love to know what he thinks of the female elves in this game, given his 14-year-old-girl statement.

I didn't think this topic would get this much attention, but I'm glad it has.

I agree that a dwarven LI should be included in the future, but this topic is about the inconsistency in the interactions between dwarves and the fade/dreaming.  I'd appreciate it if we could stick with that topic )
