I like crafting wacky items

Because Sometime's you need a challenge [or are completely bored]

 

for example:

One of my favs is the berserk masterwork on nightmare solo's

extra damage is cool but taking extra damage?

You are gunna combat roll til you yell dark souls!

 

Other fun and underrated ones: Walking Fortress / Pull of Abyss / and Unbowed. Gotta love guard and invincibility as a tank!

 

As an off tank immolate and walking bomb are fun! Fun little explosions for the whole family! 

 

A rift mage with veilstrike / pull of abyss on hit?! Free weakness when veil /abyss is on cooldown? Beautiful!

 

Energy barrage and shield bash? Chews through guard! 

 

As a rogue I love shield bash / mindblast / not hit for 5 second = damage masterworks. 

 

I have never gotten gurn hide but that looks like it would be fun to play with since your max guard would be 3 since your health would be 12. Thinking about it:

Guard on hit + gurn hide [+ regen potion] = undying as long as you attack?

You take only one damage and your guard is 3. So keep attacking and you will never die as long as you never take 4 hits at a time?

 

Or just gurn hide + regen potion = invincible for the duration of the potion? 

 

Anyway!

Any underrated favorite do you guys have?

Play as a dual wield rogue. stick 10% berserk on one dagger.. stick 20% berserk on another dagger.. and a 30% berserk on your armor.. Deal 60% more damage.. take 600% more damage.. now do nightmare solo.. dark souls style.

I've heard that Fade-touched Gurn Hide/Quillback Leather interacts poorly with guard. Seems like guard and barrier take normal damage, then that normal damage can spill over into your 12 health.

That said, I'm currently farming quillbacks to see if I can get the fade-touched hide. I'm curious whether it works with snoufleur leather's 1% health on hit (since afaik you can't have fractions of hit points).

If it does, I'm sorely tempted to make a stormheart dagger and a quillback dagger, and call them Interloper and Gnat.

Im actually doing this in nightmare as a warrior

Combat roll and charging bull are my only saving graces

I avoid fade rifts like the plague because terrors can stack on you while CB / CR are both on cooldown

On the "bright side," just +3 Guard on Hit means you get full guard with every hit.

The berserk enchants are neat. It isn't all that dangerous on KE proper use of Fade Cloak and Fade Step, and well you don't get hit that often anyways. One 50% augmented Fire Mine will get you an insane barrier anyways. I honestly prefer getting two of those instead of the Guard on hit + Hidden Blades combo.

 

Heal 1% has some neat synergy with Energy Barrage + Static Cage.. You can full heal as a Necro in your zombie form basically.

I'm unsure about guard on hit vs Heath on hit. I think health on hit is superior unless guard makes you immune to physical effects like it does for 2 hander enemies. But it's hard to test if that's true.

I saw that, but I also saw a thread on BSN that said you only took normal damage when you had guard or barrier up (with fatal consequences if it spilled over). I can see how it would be easy to confuse "take normal damage to guard and barrier" with "take normal damage all the time", because by that point in the game most people have pretty consistent barrier or guard all the time. For all we know, the person in the reddit thread was wearing fade-touched silverite and had a few bars of guard.

Hence why I want to get it for myself, so I can see how it works. :D

I know what you mean, a KE wearing heavy armor that lets him build guard - who says a mage can't tank? (Yeah every mage player's dream and, everyone eles's nightmare; too bad this isn't an MMO with PvP LOL.

 

Berserk, just for the challenge of it.

 

Warrior with fade step - good for Bull, he gets to vanish and be invulnerable just enough to keep him alive.

 

Varric with Energy barrage - those are some nasty bolts in that crossbow.

 

Solace with Immolate, fire and ice- beautiful and deadly contradiction going there.

actually friend it gives 80% damage reduction in magic melee and ranged instead of making you actually take 1 damage

it's basically Arcane Warrior all over again 

 

there is no energy barrage masterwork and for varric i think you meant leaping shot :DD

I still want to test out the quillback leather for myself. From an older thread:

After a little bit more testing I *THINK* the issue is that if you have ANY Gaurd or Barrier up your guard/barrier takes normal damage... then if it's enough to spill over the guard/barrier you take that amount rather than just 1.

For instance if you have a barrier up with 2000 health and take a hit for 2020 damage then your barrier eats the first 2000 and you take the remaining 20 (rather than just 1). Obviously this makes the Mastercraft mat almost worthless unless your going to run your party without barrier.


I often run without a mage when I'm sneaking into high-level areas. If it works the way this poster seems to think, it would work well for that kind of play.

I had never heard ANYTHING about the Golden Halla Hide until i decided to kill the dang thing myself.  This thing allows for stealth when not attacking.  THAT IS HUGE.  I no longer need to use an ability slot for Stealth, i just stop attacking and pop into stealth and attack again for the crit chance.  Or keep stealth and use this as a go to when stealth is on cooldown.  Man, WHY have i not seen this on any of the Rogue builds?  Forget fade touched silverite for the +5 guard, Give me constant stealth so im never attacked.
