Since you guys let my last creature thread die an agonizingly slow death, I've decided to create a new one, being the impatient man that I am. This thread will concerns future creatures in Dragon Age. What do you want to see in the future, what kind of battles could have potential, etc.

Don't let the thread die pls.

Pls.

Dragon Battles

You know what would be RAD?

A top-down Co-Op RTS where you team up with others to stop the blight.

Recent gaming has seen Dragon's Dogma pull off chimeras, although that game is a bit more like traditional high fantasy, in Dragon Age, a chimera would either have to be a more realistic leonine creature with goat and snake-like traits, or as you said an artificial creature, possibly created by reanimating several animals through the use of blood magic ala Hawke's mother... which would be creepy as all hell.

DRAGON'S DOGMA BEST GAME WITH DRAGON IN THE NAME Heart/10 would eternally return

The former seems more likely, if the theory regarding Qunari is to be believed.

So like a war table sort of thing? I'm not sure that can be it's own thing.

I'm thinking of a spin-off game where people take on a role (Orzammar, Fereldan, Orlais ETC) and they have to not only deal with The Blight, but the agendas of the other factions.

I just- it sounds like a pain but I love the thought of it. @_@

As a spin-off game, it sounds alright; look at Heroes of Dragon Age.

I want a perfected red lyrium construct.

The frame of a golem, the mind of a man and the will of the blight.

that is what id like to see a mage who thinks himself a god and creates frakensteins monster... maybe a whole lab with "feral failed experiments" running amok

I'm thinking they take a past blight, and use the factions thereof. One person randomly assigned as the Grey Wardens or something. Or the Grey Wardens are NPCs that go about doing stupid stuff and trying to conscript from people to face the Archdemon or something I dunno how it'd work but man that'd be tight to command an army of Legionnaires alongside a Fereldan player's Mabari force.

That doesn't sound bad as a spin-off, actually. Sort of like a Galactic Civilizations game, or whatever that kind of game genre is called? Negotiating, the occasional battle, political and strategic movement, etc. That kind of thing?

The Civilization series isloosely part of the turn based strategy sub-genre. I say loosely as it incorporates many different elements and levels of 'warfare'. I once fnded a war between to nations then destroyed them when they weakened each other an were bankrupt.

It would be a largely Co-Operative game as the objective/victory condition is to stop the blight, but two nations refusing to work together or even fighting would be an interesting thing to see. One player is randomly assigned as the Grey Wardens, who have to unite as many people from the other factions as possible. They can't build an army and can only conscript units from allied parties. Those other factions hire units with gold or other means (faith points?) and have agendas of their own (say Orlais wants a piece of Ferelden land, and Orzammar wants/needs to ship as much Lyrium as possible for them to maintain their economy and get more troops.) and want to meet them. Player Score is determined by the objectives their faction is able to meet along with their contribution to the Blight Effort.

Likewise, the conditions for failure would be the Grey Wardens falling to the Darkspawn, who are an NPC hoarde that cannot be reasoned with.

----------------

But I've distracted from the main point of the thread long enough.

You know those little phoenixes that you fight in the Western Approach? I want to fight a High Phoenix. Unless they're just dragon kin like wyverns and varghest.

I'd love to see some sort of siren-esque creature, if the next game takes place anywhere near the sea. Maybe a desire demon possessing some creature of the ocean?

And as DarkKnight said, I too would like to see a High Phoenix creature. A bigass bird creature with wings, fire breathing, the works.

Also, maybe a chimera or harpies.

Well if I had my way they'd be a mixture of metal, corruption and lyrium.

Basically take a Steel golem wrap it in red lyrium and blighted flesh and there you have it.

I would like to see actual lions the animal symbol of orlais. The return of sylvans and dryads(ladies of the forest). Basilisk maybe as gaint cave snakes. some type of yeti for more ice monsters. Isnt lyrium the hardest metal in Thedas? so i am sure a red lyrium golem would probably be the strongest type of golem we can get. I am also curious about the fex and what they are.

Although they would probably look too much like dragonlings and drakes, I would prefer Basilisks with legs. Like this Abyssal Ghoul from D&D, for instance.
