Okay I'm level 13 tempest and I want to kill a dragon. What dragon should I go after? And what's the next easiest after that?

And is it only worth using the dragon scales for tier 3 armor/weapons?

The weakest in my opinion is the one in Crestwood. Then it really depends, there is the one in the Hinterlands but it uses fire and summons dragonlings and then there is the Western Approach one who also uses fire but instead of summoning he just generates guard.

And yes save Dragon materials for tier 3 armour/weapons. Otherwise you'll  be wasting them since you can only get so many of them.

Well I was looking at hinterlands dragon and it's weak to ice. Now looking at ice spells they are sort of suck. Blizzard looks just bad and other then ice mine I can't imagine getting any of the other skills. Is ice wall worth it?

Ice wall is only good for blocking enemies it isn't a damage dealer. The best ice damage spell you can get is energy barrage + ice staff.

Knight Enchanter spec.

Or bring Vivienne. Easy win against any Dragon. The Knight Enchanter is invulnerable if played right.

Amusingly, when Blackwall says this of Archdemons I gave him the side-eye, but gameplay tells us that that's exactly how Champions can solo dragons, they just keep sticking them with swords until dead.

cheese the dragons, as your a Rogue take 3 mages and keep yourself under its belly, set your mages to defend you. :)

Edit, adding Spirit dmg to mages staves is also a good thing.,

You're a Tempest.

Flask of Fire + Thousand Cuts = dead dragon.
If not, Thousand Cuts again.

Okay I give up, I can barely even hurt the crestwood dragon. How do you kill it?

Being a douche and quoting myself because relevant.

You're a Tempest.

Flask of Fire + Thousand Cuts = dead dragon.
If not, Thousand Cuts again.

Alternatively, switch to Varric and hit it with Hail of Arrows.

The Ferelden Frostback in HInterlands is slightly easier than the Northern Hunter in Crestwood. Frostback/level12 - Hunter/level13.

How to kill a dragon (bringing Cole, Sera and Solas) in less than 1 minute:

1) Cole throws Mark of Death.

2) Sera, Solas and the Inquisitor all attack with their focus abilities (I picked these companions because their focus abilities do a lot of damage, I used the first focus ability of the inquisitor, but I guess if you are a tempest you can use Thousand Cuts just like Sera does, it should work either way). Do this with the TacCam so you don't waste time from Mark of Death.

3) From now on you will only control Cole: throw Hidden Blades to the dragon for some extra damage.

4) Hit the dragon a bit more with Cole (maybe use Twin Fangs if you have time, you are trying to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible) until the Mark of Death symbol starts blinking. Then blow up the Mark of Death.

That's it, at that point the Dragon either died or is almost dead. I tried this yesterday in Nightmare and it worked perfectly. Maybe at lvl 13 you don't have all the necessary skills yet, but you should at lvl 15. Quick dragon kill, no tank needed.

If your inquisitor was a  high level Assasin, you could do it pretty much on your own, like the guy in this video (dragon killed in less then 30 seconds):

exactly

At this point there shouldn't be any question on how to deal with anything after Skyhold.

A lot of solutions here but there is another way, understand that dragons kill because they have separation anxiety. They don't like you to be too far away and thus they wing flap you and breath on you to get you to come closer. That is how most parties die fighting dragons is from range. The safest dragon killing party is Cass, Blackwell, Bull and you. Why? They will all get up close and under the dragon. There it is reduced to kicking and swatting at you which you can mitigate pretty easily. It is slower than all your fancy mark of death, flask of fire, lightening cage things but if you are trying at lower levels it might actually be safer.

If you want to bring a mix, one huge key is this, when wing flap starts your natural tendency is to run away from the dragon. Don't, run towards him, mince you get into the eye of the storm you are safe.

I would argue that the safest dragon killing party is dagger rogues rather than warriors. You want to avoid getting swiped/kicked even if you're a warrior. Rogues can kill single targets much faster - therefore less swiping happens - and they have more access to movement abilities that will let them escape swipes.

I think FoF+TC is silly, but you don't need it to melt dragons. Heck, if you bring multiple rogues, you don't even need to use a Mighty Offense Tonic (it isn't bugged like FoF+TC, but it explodes your damage if used correctly) to kill a dragon quickly. Just have Cole set a mark of death and have him and Sera go to town.

Dragons are EZ mode. I play a knight enchanter, so I bring a full mage team. Tank the thing with my OP Inquisitor and never take damage, and use the time freeze thing to keep the other 3 mages as far away from the dragon and each other as possible. You can kill any dragon at any level

Can you suggest a party to help kill the crestwood dragon for a lv 14 character and lv 13 party members?
