We have the Anchor and with it, the means to travel physically to the Fade. Heck, we can do it thrice in the course of the game.

So, would you not like to use that power and travel to the Golden City? Discover just what is in there.

Probably a bad idea considering what happened last time but I would still do It if given the option, I think.

Worst case scenario, you'll become an immortal horror with powers beyond human comprehension.

I wouldn't do it. Its just like with the well of sorrow. The golden city is now the black city and I think that sounds way to omnious for me.

If my Inquisitor gets same voice as Corypheus for doing it...then yes I would do it because it would be totally worth it :)

The Black City seems to be a big Pandora's Box... That was already opened once with fairly destructive effects so... no. :)

The only way my Inquisitor or any other protagonist of mine would enter is if they figured out what the Black City is and what was inside before hand.  Going in naïve and ignorant like the Magistars would be a bad idea.

Bring a bucket of paint. Problem solved.

Nah... FormerFiend kind of convinced me that it's a bad idea. The Herald of Andraste would be 'too powerful'. No one could top him after that. Playing prophet is good enough for me.

You'd still need to find a way to work out it's location as you cant just walk to it. Even physically in the fade it's not a solid reality

If you take Solas with you in the fade he will say that the Black City is very close and it's visible in the sky. That's the closest we'll get to it I'm afraid...

City of bright colours sounds way more fun. If it was called that I would go. But I would also drink from the well of extreme happyness that didn't have the geas of Mythal.

Worst of the worst, you'll become an immortal horror with powers beyond human comprehension.

I would indeed. Not without taking extreme precautions though. The last time this happened, the Blight was unleashed and those who entered came back as darkspawn. I'd recommend a step-by-step approach, collecting and considering the knowledge gained by every step before taking the next. You can't be too careful with stuff like that. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a retreat at some point.

if we got the option in a game, it would depend on the context. Most notably whether the presentation suggested "there is real extreme danger" or "the Chantry doesn't like it". The objection "You intrude on the Maker's home" would make me rather more determined to do it rather than less. I do not accept being denied something for no better reason than someone else believes I shouldn't have it.

In a way, I admire the ancient Magisters. Their goal was admirable, their motivations and methods were not.

Well, if it's called "well of extreme happyness" I might want to drink, even if it does have the geas of Mythal.

And no, I'd stay the hell away from the gold city, honestly: Corypenis might have been an immortal, powerful being, but if anything I felt pity for him.

If it is possible I'd go, just to see how they'd write it. I mean, the being in the fade physically was done well.

My Female Elven mage would study it first, all the knowledge of Thedas at her side, with help of morrigan ( she drank from the well ) I would gather experts on this, and verry powerfull mages/wardens/seekers  find Merril bring her morrigan Hawke and much more en we finally go in the fade to the Black City and see what happens.

I wouldn't want to go. But I would have loved to see Nevarra and especially the Grand Necropolis, instead.

Depends on the characters. My mages are usually power hungry, my Inquisitor wouldn't though, neither would be Hawke. My Warden on the other hand would.

Yet, game wise, I never want Dragon Age to ever go there. Keeping it a mystery is what will make it an excellent plot point forever.

Considering how much we discovered in DA:I to be an outright lie, I am sure if my inquisitor had the choice, she'd go, just to see what all the fuss is about. I think the black city is like the temple in the Oasis, when the door was closed, the temple gave everyone a "bad feeling" to deter those not bold enough to go inside. Likewise I think the tales of the black city are just rantings from superstitious folk.

There is, obviously, something in there.

Look what it did to Corypheus and the Architect. Look at the Darkspawn.

I don't remember anything being revealed to be a lie. What we got was lots of confirmation of things. Cory and his buddies DID try to get into heaven and ruined everything. That IS the origin of the Darkspawn. Potentially the Elven gods DO/DID exist. Red Lyrium IS tainted Lyrium. None of these were confirmed before but are now.

what I mean is that there are more than a few revelations that the quizzy finds out in regards to Mythal, the elven gods, discovering truths about the dalish, certain historical events such as the battle of red crossing, how Tevinter rose to power, so on and so on. Ideas and concepts that most of Thedas accepted as fact, or at least, things people had been telling themselves for centuries and the truth was just washed under the rug. What people know about the golden/black city likewise is probably just half truths, or complete lies. We only have figures like corypheus and his word to take as fact and gospel.

Well...no. We don't know that this is the origin of the darkspawn. We know - I'm inclined to treat this as knowledge at this point - that one of those who entered came out as darkspawn, and probably, by extension, the other six as well. That's all. We don't know they were the first darkspawn, and that seems rather unlikely considering the numbers in the first Blight. Also, given the events of DA2, red lyrium has likely been around for longer than the Blights, which suggests that the Blight as a phenomenon is also much older, and by extension, also the darkspawn. The association of the Golden City with Heaven is a quaint conceit of Andrastianism. The City is a location in the Fade, unconnected to any one faith's deity/s as far as we can determine, and if it has a legitimate owner, nobody knows who or what this is.

Nope, going there seems to be a bad idea.

I mean, if I see a door that says 'Do Not Open" and then see someone open it and get mauled by bear I don't think I'd be tempted to open it too.
