They should add more females for male only romance options to balance everything out. A female elven Inquisitor has a total of six romance options, a female human has five, while all other gender/race combinations have four. I'm not against the romance options for the game, I just wish they would even it out some Males had a few more to match the female ones. Vivienne would have been an interesting romance option for a start, sadly she will turn you down always. Seems a little unfair that the race specific ones are for female only, Cullen I can understand cause it fits his character. I mean no disrespect to anyone if I have offended you, it was not my intent to do so.

This isn't meant to disregard what you're saying. But the way I view it is that some games some people get lucky with their preferences, and other games, they don't. It's whatever Bioware decides fits best with the story and the companions involved. I'd keep your fingers crossed for the next game. You might see more options available to your preferences then.

I was just about to put up a post on this very topic.
I would add to the OP that Bioware also unbalanced the romances across the classes unevenly.
As an example here are the 3 classes:
Warrior: Of the three NPC's all three are romance options. They are spread evenly between 2 straight options and one bisexual.
Mage: Of the three NPC's only two are romance options. One is gay and the other straight but only for Elven females.
Rogue: Of the three NPC's only one is a romance option. That single option only goes for females.
Personally, and I assume there are other like me, I prefer to have my romance character in party. I like the idea of spending time with the NPC my PC is pursuing. The unevenness of the distribution or romance options can make planning a party awkward though.
I know it can be hard to balance between writing compelling characters and fitting their personalities to game mechanics. I also know that having expanded options for different sexual preferences will bring with it less options for traditional norms, which I gladly accept. I also like that some characters are selective in their racial preference. I was disappointed that my human mage missed out on a romance with Solas (wish he would have acknowledged my advances though) yet I appreciated that the character felt more like a person because of it. All of that being said, it would have been nice to have a bit more options in planning a party. Trying to make a party with a PC as the only warrior and still keeping your love interest in party can be difficult. Even more so once you factor in race, sex, sexual orientation and pro mage/templar.

got to admit I was upset that there was only 2 that could be romanced for a straight relationship
Cassandra that hair: no ty she
Josephine she's just annoying and don't like her and you cant even take her as a companion
so basically its one romance for male and female
maybe a dlc that adds a couple more companions like in dragon age 2 with Sebastian

I agree, male inquisitors have so few options, and only 2 girls. Statistics show that straight male gamers are the ones who mostly play this game, so I find it odd that 2 not particularly pretty or interesting girls are the only female romance options. At the very least they could've added Sera or Vivienne. I really thought that Sera was cute.
Other very attractive options would be Dagna and Harding, who also are female dwarves, and female dwarves haven't been an option yet.

All male inquisitors get 4 options, Dwarf and Qunari female inquisitors get 4 options. Human female inquisitors get 5 options, and Elven female inquisitors get 6.

I went with Cassandra on my Human Mage, but I agree. It's kind of BS your only lesbian option as a female is some butt ugly Elf who's also mentaly retarded (Sera)... Kind of shocked lesbians arn't up in arms about Bioware saying lesbians are ugly and mentally handicapped.

Everybody has at least four options, which is more than you get in most of the other games. It's more than you had in Origins or 2...
The only reason female players have more is because of the extra development time. It wasn't long enough to write any completely new characters into the game, they worked with what they had. It would have been nice if everyone had extra options, but there are more male characters than female in the main cast, so it worked out that there were more chances to add male love interests. I'm sure in the next game, everything will go back to being equal again.
There's also the fact that in the vast majority of other games, straight men have the most options... Compare straight men to straight females, and the men have more options in BG, ToB, Jade Empire, EVERY Mass Effect...

Everyone has more than one option.
Female humans get one extra
female elves get two extra
This is hardly a crisis.
And out of "extra" those options, one is a recovering drug addict whose withdrawal may likely kill him, and the other is a liar who dumps you after first trying to convince you to change your body.
We got some real winners there. ![]()

It's been brought up many, many, many times before. I'm sure that the devs are aware of your concerns.

Screw the love interests. I think there were too many and it ended up resulting in a bland experience for everyone.
I know the story overall was very bland and tasteless.

One of the things I always find weird in games is the ability to have a romance when you're supposed to be saving the world from aliens, zombies, Coryphepus or whatevs. I don't get why this thread is a thing, considering there is absolutely no benefit for having an in game romance. The only one that seems like it could have real implications is with Solas. Forget the virtual vag dude, go out and kill some Templars or Mages or bears. Thedas needs you!

It's fun. And among most developers, still unique.
A good romance is pretty crucial to any good adventure, I think. Though, if you want to ignore it, I support you.

It´s a BW trademark...can you imagine if they announced a game without it? I think there would be less backlash if they announced that their next game would be a mobile app platform game...
