It's high time that the 8 or so of you rise up and show the big machine in Canada that you're unafraid.
Perhaps a Trojan Goose? They could use it to break in and reprogram the game.

So this is how my words of encouragement are repaid? With protest? Well, we'll see if I ever contribute to the Manly Gamer Rally.

Only if they can also mod the Ferelden Frostback to look like Randy "Macho Man" Savage, like Skyrim.
These threads never fail to annoy me, straight males having most options = perfectly fine, straight males have same amount as everyone = an evil agenda trying to oppress their rights
was perfectly fine to them to tell straight women to STFO when they were unhappy about their choices in ME3
Well, yes, it is exactly what you have said. If the biggest monetary contributors are straight males who want straight romances then equal catering of non straight romances is most probably an agenda.
Bioware does RPGs with inclusive characters and themes... which they started doing in 2003, before anyone "made them."
All those other companies do have their "thing." This is Bioware's "thing."
2003? What BW game in 2003 had this kind of agenda?
No, they do different genres. That's all.

Yes
A shame, we'd be spared your obsession with having a female elven sex slave then
I don't have such obsession. Sex slave would suggest continuous process of master initiated amorous behaviours, arranged marriage offers certain amounts of amorous moments in order to breed. I have never mentioned that my character wants to make hundreds of them(offspring)
Only if they can also mod the Ferelden Frostback to look like Randy "Macho Man" Savage, like Skyrim.
Randy Savage... sure. But what about Thomas the Tank Engine?
This is why DAI needs modding support.

KoTOR, and Juhani. Arguably where it began. It continued in Jade Empire with Sky and obviously started to be fully expressed in Mass Effect and Dragon Age Origins.
They've been full on embracing this direction since at least 2007, when Mass Effect was released and Origins was still in development.

Ah, yes, their first mistake. Considering that BioWare did not start with KoTOR then there is a chance of them returning to their proper, more enlightened roots.

BioWare do RPG, they do not.

You know what? What if we all just make a pact to ignore him? He'll eventually go away since he's clearly just looking for attention. He'll move on to another board. It's probably just best for all of us.

Doubt it, since KoTOR was only three games in. We'll see who's right, in any case.
(I have a pretty good idea what direction they'll maintain.)

Of course, a straight, male gamer and a non-straight, non-male PC are in no way mutually exclusive...and the desire to play a PC of the same gender and sexuality is by no means a very dominant norm...

Yep I wonder why people always disregard this option. Lot of players aren't restricted by their own gender and sexuality when playing characters. Not saying that everyone should play different kind of characters but let's just say that at least for me all LI's are options.
You seem to think that all straight males share your opinion on the options being bland. Many liked their options very much. You were getting your sexy rebel without cause for 2 games straight, BW decided to go with rebel with cause this time around and if you think about it in a sense what BW did is diversity . You just didn't got what you as a person wanted, that's all, there is no imbalance in that, no unfairness. It only has to do with your particular tastes not being met.
They were happy, but I wasn't yes it did boil down to that. I said diversity however. DIVERSITY - I got two 'romantic' cases where I felt I had to play a nice character. I'm complaining that it's unfair because, you had to play a specific way for a straight male character. the unfairness is that the character themes are so close together.
Sexy rebel without a cause is rather trivial the way you put it. You know well that Morrigan was interested in preserving arcane knowledge and recovering forgotten lore. Isabella, was just in it for the gold coins but you saw more to her than that. You'd probably only classify them as that trope just to trivialize those phrases. This is a feedback forum, I don't see why you need to result to snarky comments when attacking someone else's feedback.
You and I don't agree on the term fair, so let's avoid that word and just try to use the word diversity instead and only that. Both Cassandra and Josie are for ORDER, both like romance, flowers, chivalry, equality, both are shy down to the core. The only variant I could have seen initially were how one takes action without thinking how others view her. That's good, but I don't like it that she has to regret it afterwards.
I didn't enjoy that I felt like I had to be pro chantry and pro seekers or templars to truly be in character sync with Cassandra. This is a limitation for straight male. Others may have not seen that, but thats just it, others. don't tell me that a feedback can't be wrong, or incorrect at that when it comes to personal choices. All I asked for was a variation next time.
Well, there's nothing to stop you from choosing to play different characters and trying different romances. I don't really see how Josie and Cass are inherently bland or overly similar to each other, personally. If there's no one in the whole cast who you'd like to pursue, well... sorry?
If you're only going to ever go for the straight male options, and you didn't get anything that you feel was "unique" - well... roll of the dice I guess. So, sorry?
If you're in sincere disagreement about the backwards state of the industry, it seems hypocritical to complain about the one developer that tries to address it.
That's just it sir, I want to play a male character, thats my stand point. I want to play a straight male character, not a female character to fix the limitations straight male characters were given for counterparts.
If my posts seem petulant its because you and every other person keeps trying to backbite and belittle my feedback by saying it's not unfair. The unfairness is in the uniqueness of the options presented in males. So no, I don't agree with you and you don't agree with me. That's the line, and we're going to stay like that.
You know, I think people are rather prone to making assumptions about what the average straight dude gamer in the street actually thinks about all this.
Anecdata time: most of the straight men I know IRL who play BioWare games pretty much ignore the romances. Their character might end up with someone in game, but unlike the fans I know online they don't put a lot of effort or thought into it. Most of them ended up with Leliana in DAO and Isabela in DA2 because they were the first characters that offered. I've had more than one exasperating conversation where they dismissed all of the the romance content, whoever it was aimed at, as 'girl stuff'.
Meanwhile, the men I know who are interested in the romances and the characters don't necessarily play straight male characters, any more than I always play straight female characters. I've got one straight male friend who ended up romancing Anders with a guy in DA2. (He claims that he kept clicking on the heart button to see what would happen. It turns out that what happens is gay sex. Who could have guessed!?) Right now he's just started Inquisition and is playing as a female dwarf, and last I heard he was thinking about romancing Sera.
Now, the opinions and experiences of my pals don't mean anything more than the experiences of Random Forum Dude #327. But they don't mean any less, either. I'm not convinced that a majority of the straight male audience care that much about having multiple female romance options.

I suppose my words have been presuming too much relooking at my posts. They did imply that straight men were limited. It was just really my own position that felt it. If it happens to be a lot of dudes don't really give a **** then that's not on me to say it.
But I maintain I felt limited. I wanted more options for a character. I also wanted more options to be a ruthless inquisitor too but it won't happen.

That was actually my problem with Cassandra, I had no interest in her character, not personality nor her world view which was the total opposite of mine. I had to butter her up for a romance which made me just annoyed. Why can´t she change her view of the world? Then Josephine option was just sad, I really don´t see her as a viable option.
I tried to play female pc version (which I think have better romances) but what I really want to play is a straight male pc with variable romance options.
But I maintain I felt limited. I wanted more options for a character. I also wanted more options to be a ruthless inquisitor too but it won't happen.
I am actually sympathetic to this position - across the three games, I don't think there's been enough variety in the LIs available to straight male PCs. (Too many humans, for one thing!) I think it's much like people asking for a gay knight in shining armour.
It's only the guys who demand that options be taken away from other demographics in order to cater more to straight men that I have a problem with, and you don't seem to be doing that, so we're cool
.

I don't agree with limiting anyone. One thing I am happy for and hope BW excels at in future games is adding more options! for everyone.
My younger brother is a huge gamer. He eats, breathes, and sleeps games. He even works for a game retail company. And he's a fan of all genres, but RPGs are his favorite.
In DA, he always plays as a male Mage, elf if possible. In DA: O, he romanced Morrigan and loves her still. In DA2, he didn't like either gal, so he romanced Anders and is actually a big fan of his. Over Christmas, we spent about an hour talking about DA: I and most of that was him gushing over Dorian. Seriously, he's a bigger Dorian romance fan than I am. And he kind of embodies the straight dudebro gamer demographic, in my opinion.
I never really gave him a chance. Between the options, I think I might try that for the first time. He's interesting to listen to and do quests with. I don't find him at all well, attractive, that's because i'm straight but yeah, guy had a funny charm to him.
Just so sour and salty about my female LIs!

I think the only LI in the whole game where you could play something less than "nice" was Sera and even then it just boils down to mischief, but that's not the point.

It's not a snarky comment. Bioware so far has used only three stereotypes: damaged guy, rebel girl and damsel girl. Female straight players who want to play a straight romance always get the damaged guy, while men have the opportunity to choose between a rebel and a damsel. Your problem is that you didn't get the specific rebel trope that was included in previous games. There could have been 10 female LI and if none of them were the specific rebel kind of trope you want you would still have a problem because you seem to want that one specific type, that's all there is to it.
This time around Bioware tried to spice things up in many different ways, while still sticking to that formula. It has nothing to do with equality or agendas. DAI is the first game in DA universe where the romance is played in accordance to the characters involved in a very prominent way. Cassandra was created as a character to fit a suitable role in the game she was not created with the sole purpose of you romancing her, same goes with all other characters.
Why can´t she change her view of the world?
Because player-centric characters are one of the most shallow type of character one can encounter in games.

I don't quite agree with the stereotypes you put forth for the characters.
Morrigan was more than just a rebel mage and she was appropriate for the story because of Flemmiths involvement. Zevran and Alistair are not broken characters. They had their unique charm too.
But I will say this, without Cassandra, Inquisition wouldn't have been a thing. She pulled the tome and told rhodrick to shove it. I didn't see leliana do that.
Bethesda and Lionhead Studios then ^^
Bethesda do completely different RPG and their releases are rare. Lionhead Studios and their games are even more rare.
