Dragon age is wonderfully inclusive of women in every aspect of the universe, which makes its consistent use of masculine pronouns all the more grating. Such terms no longer communicate a generic sense of “anyone”.

Yes it is a minor concern but the fix is just as minor! Using ‘people’ or ‘soldiers’ instead of ‘man’ or ‘men’; ‘humankind’ or ‘people’ instead of ‘man’ or ‘mankind’ etc.

I may be biased in my perception due to being a male, but I have not seen an abundance of masculine pronouns, or other kinds of language that seemed out of place.

 

 

Can you give a couple ingame dialogue examples to show where you think it's inappropriate?

"man" refers to "huMANity" as a whole, it has f all to do with gender.

Let's assume for a moment that you could make the game gender neutral in English... how do you propose to do the same in all the other languages? I can't see that happening in German... not without completely destroying the flow of the conversations.

Geez, people sure do seem to be overreacting over a simple request which was admitted as being a very minor thing. 

 

Personally I'd prefer gender neutral language where possible, though unfortunately I also feel it doesn't work in how the Dragon Age world has been written. Would be nice though.

Yes.. then you have guys who claim they  'feel' theyre a woman, and would prefer to use a bathroom designated for our women... Yes its minor, but the constant socialism being shoved down our throat is gotten out of hand tbh.. I play games to escape all that crap! This game couldnt have taken a more safe approach to gender equality, feminism, Gay and lesbian rights, etc...ffs its actually a challenge to get every single male, NOT to try and bed my male PC

Oh, and OP, could you maybe provide some specific examples? Because I don't really recall for myself how the series handles gender-ambiguous situations (text in codices, hypothetical discussions, etc.).

...Considering there's only 2 male characters you can bed out of 7 male companions/advisors, and YOU have to initiate both of those, I'm rather curious as to how you got both of them and all the others to try and bed you...?

Considering that english is (mostly) gender neutral unlike other european languages that have masculine and feminine versions of the same word. I think this is a silly request.
