In all my 3 characters I have not managed to get that quest from Corporal Vale. He mentions that I need to find a healer in Redcliffe but the quest never appears on my quest journal.
Does anyone know how can this be fixed?

It doesn't show up in your journal, but you can still complete it with no trouble.

Nope, not in the journal but, you still get credit for getting the healer to go to the crossroads.
