You know who is forced? Captain Abab
I mean every goddamn chapter I gotta hear about this guy
The book is called Moby Dick right?
I mean why can't Melville just get rid of this Ahab guy already

And Link for Legend of Zelda. Why do I always have to play Link. Why not the person who's name is in the title?

I think OP is referring to the Claudia Black connection. Black voiced Liara' mother (father, whatever) in ME2/3. And see when the Warden refused the DR with Morrigan (also voiced by Black), She bolted as fast as her four shape-shifted paws could take her.

But not before stopping by Sandahl's room.

Nine months later Varric is born. Morrigan uses Alexius's time magic to send OGB Varric into the past where he grows up to be a Kirkwall businessman.

Incidentally the boy we see Morrigan trotting around is at Skyhold is actually the Catalyst. But I digress. Varric is the Liara of DAI because they have the same voice actor for a parent. Pretty out-there connection OP but I think I agree.

Dorian, Varric, and Iron Bull all work as the bro-friend character IMHO.

Yes, she did. And the people of thedus may of already of been dooms way before da2.

She never found any plans.

She says "I discovered plans for a device that could wipeout the reapers. They're in the archives". Hackett gave her access to the archives, why didn't she forward the plans to him right away? Because its hard to do that when you haven't been to the archives to verify that there is indeed plans that can stop the reapers.

A moment later she says "I think I found what we need". Make up your mind Liara. Did you find something or not?

A couple minutes later, she says she found bits and pieces, clues really. So now she only found clues, but actually hasn't see anything that proves there are plans in the archives. She just got her hopes up without actually seeing these plans

In the Archives, evabot is seen downloading the plans. So I guess the evabot found the plans

I forgot Black voiced Aethyta, I thought she only voiced Admiral Plays God with Robots. (Xen)

That's only because everyone's too busy focusing on the chest.

Liara's got him there too.

I don't even know where to begin to tell you how wrong you are.

1.Evabot downloaded the info of what was in the prothean record.

2.She was in and out of the archives before we came there. Before the lock down after cerberus attacked.

3. Added on the fact she was still deciphering the prothean code.

4. And at the end of it all it still was a prothean weapon she found that did stop the reapers.

I actually think Leliana is the new Liara. Managing information and a network of spies, both had a lot of emotional baggage to deal with, etc~

Yeah I loved him in DA2 but DAI he was just kinda... there. Didn't have much conversation with him (merely pumping him for info), and he was so good in DA2 because everybody else was crazy and exhausting to deal with. DAI has plenty of other calm characters, so Varric isn't as necessary.

Also his crossbow Bianca sucks in DAI, seriously, even Tier 4 mats on Tier 3 upgrades couldn't bring her up to DPS with ANYONE else.

2) How do you know she was in and out of the archives? There is no proof of her being in the archives

3) Deciphering or not, why didn't she forward the plans to Hackett?

4) yes the plans lead to the building of the crucible that ends up stopping the reapers if used, but she did not find any plans

Yeah a masterwork bow schematic will get Sera better equipped in battle than Varric. Tres bizarre, but it works for me since she's my regular archer.

If anyone's the Liara of Dragon Age it's Leliana, without a doubt.

2. You did not read the record in the level. Have you? She was in the archives. Hell, the notes in the level stated the people there were impressed by her findings.

3.Outside of the fact she did not decript it yet and he would not understand what he was reading?

4.The person who stated the plans were there, decipher the plans, and presented the plans some how did not find it?

Varric is more like Garrus IMO (only not as awesome) except Hawke would be his Shepard, not the inquisitor. I always thought Leliana was the Liara of DA, but Leli does not quite reach the same heights of Suedom. I mean you could get rid of Leliana from your party for one thing, and you could have at least a fleeting satisfaction that you chopped her head off at the Temple of Sacred Ashes before she inexplicably had it reattached. You never even got the chance to off Liara temporarily -_-

The datapad only mentions someone being impressed and it wasn't about any findings, it was about Prothean culture

He may not understand what she sends him, but he could get  folks to help translate it while Liara continues to find any other information that can explain the plans. After the mission Hackett even tells her to forward them to him and he will have his own people to decipher it. How are they going to translate it if they don't know how? Why not send Liara to Hackett to help translate for the people who are building it?

The plans were presented to Hackett after they were taken from the evabot

That's only because everyone's too busy focusing on the chest.

That GLORIOUS chest hair is what causes Varric to be one of the few awesome dwarves without a beard.  The other is Sandal.  No real reason needed to explain that one.

Still, I don't see anything really similar between Varric and Liara.  Take away Varric's weapon, and he's just a short little guy with no real way to defend himself save his ability to totally bullcrap his way out of a situation.  Take away Liara's weapon, and she'll still find five ways to crush you into paste.  With her mind.

1. He was impressed with with what she knew and what she discovered in the data. It make no sense to have the leading expert come and not look at the info.

2.Alll the people at the base were that help in decripting it. Everyone was one of the leading human of prothean study. Why would she think Hackett scientist out side of that area would do a better job? And she only forward the info on the date after she mostly decripted it.

3.Yes, after Liara finished descriping it.

Morrigan is Dragon Age's Liara.

Both:

1. Are writers' pets who are more or less unsympathetic unless you romance them

2. Have an inexplicably essential role in the plot regardless of player decisions

3. Inexplicable status/power achieved regardless of player decisions

4. Both are male romantic/sexual fantasy archetypes

Etc, etc...

@FaWa (quote isn't working)

You may not be able to get rid of him completely, which I suspect may be because they don't want you to be able to screw yourself over by pissing off all rogue companions, but Varic is hardly "forced". Once you get another companion you barely have to do anything with him at all. He is briefly involved in a few other companion quest and he introduces you to Hawke...that's about it. You don't even have to have him with you to do his red lyrium quest and it's more of pain in the ass if you want to use him because for the ranged rouge role he is out classed by Sera or a respeced Cole. If any of the characters are writers pets who you can't get rid of in DA it would Leliana or Morrigan though I don't have much of an issue with them either.

1) It still mentions nothing about her finding anything or being in the archives

2) What date did she forward what information? The only time any data was forwarded was after the Mars mission to Hackett to have his people take a look at it.

3) Finished  deciphering the data? What stopped her in the first place from finishing?  It only took a few moments on the Normandy to finish deciphering the data if that's what she was doing. I believe that Liara transferred the data from the evabot's omnitool to hers. That's all. There was no deciphering needed since halfway through the game, Hackett mentions its not Prothean specific.

Who's liara?

Thank you, my fellow human being. Now I know I am not alone.
Seriously.
I had to google this, and I *did* play Mass Effect. That's about the amount of f*ck I give.

Even the outfit Lel wears in Inquisition is very similar to Liara's in ME2....
