Rampage/Dragon Rage not working intentional?

I was just wondering if there was any word on whether or not it was intentional for Rampage to no longer restore health while rampage was active.  I always thought it was a little crazy that you could actually gain health on an ability that was meant to deplete, but then again, there aren't any healers and it was still easy enough to use dragon rage to get yourself killed.  It would seem annoying but reasonable to make it so that that your health bar just didn't move while rampage was activated (which is what it does now).  I can't tell if it's a balancing issue or not, but as it stands, it does make dragon rage, a defining ability, much less appealing (not to be confused with *garbage*, just simply not as appealing as before).

Apparently it was intentional.  Want something more depressing?  This is the fix they've had ready for 1.5 months.  Patch 1 had no Rampage fix and, in response to all the questions, we were told that there was a fix ready...it just hadn't made it into the patch on time.  So this isn't a rush job.  This change was calculated and planned well in advance.

Yeah.  I know.

I just got a response that, yes, this was intentional.

But they made it so Dragon Rage doesn't cost health while Rampage is active now, to "compensate..."

RIP Reaver.  You always were an Arcane Warrior with tons of downside, and now you just completely suck.

I don't play as Reaver, so I don't know, did they change the skill description?

I ask that because they can't intentionally modify a skill if they didn't modified the description.

Rampage was overpowered. It gave full health in around 2 Dragon-Rage hits, which isn´t what the tooltip said.

I like it now, but i admit that I also use a HoK ring.

I don´t get the comparisons to AW, and spamming-DR-2-win is just bad gameplay.

i don´t know if DR is actually bugged, as it should only use 2% of your health per hit, and it seems that it takes higher.

Totally agreed, now we might see some different builds and styles of play rather than the flowchart reaver. They literally made skills do what they said it would do, I don't see the problem.

Looking forward to see what kind of build you can fashion!

I get why they did it, but I hate that yet another class goes on the 'sub-par without strong HoK effects' pile.

Yeah, veterans don’t care all that much, but new players without The ring will have much harder time.

For reference here is the pre-Patch 3 description of Rampage. Who knows what they meant to write, but this description seems pretty clear that while under Rampage you would heal every time you hit something.

You're an unstoppable fury of physical force. While this ability is active, your attacks are harder and faster, and you gain Health with each strike.

Damage Bonus: 10%
Speed Bonus: 10%
Health Amount: 10%
Duration: 10 Seconds

Now it's possible that "your attacks" was meant to only be auto-attacks and not ability attacks (Dragon-Rage), but it doesn't matter now anyway.

Anything that reduces survivability for a two handed class instantly will mean that class is at most a threatening class for me.  i could care less if I get more damage if the archer across the room is ****** smacking me into next week in one or two shots.  And no I do not have a great heal on kill ring to use.  However this is no different than single player games, two handed classes just blow compared to sword and shield or stealth rogue.  (Saying all of this I fully acknowledge the very skilled players can still play these classes well.  Since I rarely find a pug game in which keepers or elementalists use barriers on two handed warriors I get beat on pretty good at the higher levels.)

I went from one warrior that I liked playing to none. Did anyone even ask for the Reaver to get nerfed in any significant number? People kept crying for the AW to get a nerf then they go and nerf a class that no one asked for that I recall.

Well, Dragon Rage was the default go-to ability as soon as you hit the level to have it, so it makes sense to try and tune Rampage down a bit since you'd get full health in two-three attacks.

Soo, you mean to tell me you cant heal with dragon rage + rampage any more.

I'm okay with this. Devour heals you. Rampage + auto attack/warhorn will heal you. that's two more heals than most classes have. Just be less 'rambo' with DR and you'll be fine. It takes a brainless class and adds some challenge to it.

I have no complaints. (at least until i play my reaver tonight)
