Based on the wikis, the item ids I have glanced over, and the discussions we have had on here there are A LOT of complete, functional, and balanced unique gear and schematics in the game data that can simply not be obtained.

My greatest fear regarding this is that they are planning on making these paid "dlc." If this ends up being the case I believe it a safe assumption that I will not be the only one completely outraged and generally infuriated. My hope is they might be patched in or added via a free "dlc" that simply adds methods or locations to obtain them.

So thoughts or expectations? Hopes or fears? Really just want to see how the community feels on this.

Like the Lionhead Maul schem? I don't know too many of them that aren't obtainable.

Honestly I won't feel bothered.  There are vast amounts of rare items and schematics in the vanilla game already, so its hard for me to feel cheated. The devs are going to try and recoup what I imagine are astronomical development costs however they can, including item pack DLCs.  I will probably choose not to buy them, as I'm more interested in story-driven DLC than item-driven DLC, but a company offering premium content is not cause for me to grind my teeth.

Lionhead Maul, Mortalitasi Staff, Masterwork Tevinter Longsword, Split Longsword - so mainly masterwork T3 weapons. It sucks because with this intended or unintended "bug" there isn't a 17 metal 1H sword in the game. This game doesn't offer many optical variations to begin with and then some of the strongest are unobtainable for whatever reason.

Unobtainable (Masterworks only)

Masterwork Tevinter Longsword

Lionhead Maul

Masterwork Mortalitasi Staff

Masterwork Battlemage Staff Grip

Masterwork Stretched Pommel

Andraste's Grasp

Superior Battlemage Mail(?)

-----

In addition I wish next patch if a big fix to crafting, materials included.

Some unobtainable and/or misplaced Crafting Materials

All Two-Handed Weapon Upgrades are in the One-Handed Weapon Category in the Inventory.

Some Dagger/Dual Blade Dagger Schematics and it's upgrade, and some Armor upgrade visual or category mix-up.

The list of uniques on the wiki versus what can be found in game startled me. As for schematics the majority missing have been said.

As for recouping development costs, it is my opinion that with the exception of things declared as promotional or special edition content to the public from the start, no complete and functional item included in the game data should be intended to be unlocked via a paid "dlc." I am fine with item pack and story dlcs alike, but only when they are genuinely new content. You do not just ship a game with all these complete items in the data and then announce x amount of time later a dlc of "new" items. Now if, perhaps, some of the uniques were integrated as part of a story dlc I might be less inclined to rage. But the schematics should be obtainable from release. No excuse there.

Of course this is all just my opinion.

I got the Superior Battlemage Mail in a random drop chest in the cradle in my last playthrough. That was when I really really tried to get the Mortalitasi to drop but no luck there, though I heard "rumours" that it did drop for some people. Maybe it is just ultra rare. But why not slightly adjust drop rates depending on the class of the inquisitor and what types of weapons they use most of the time, like if you are a warrior and most use a longsword in fights that those schematics slightly appear more commonly in random drops?

Anyways after I finished the campaign I just imported the staff schematic in to finally see what I could craft with it, too bad my necro did not have it during the campaign.

Yeah the tier 3 "main" armors all drop. Many weapon schematics do not though. Sad that Cheat Engine is what we must resort to but at least it is an option

Yeah and the RNG only helps make obtainable schematics "unobtainable."  They really need to get rid of the RNG and just let us buy stuff.

It makes No Sense for this game to be running on RNG for the Storyline Mode which is Single Player when obtaining T3 weapons/gears has no effect upon another besides yourself.

That to me, is I'm sorry to say, a stupid idea that was implemented for DA:I.  If the game is Single Player (meaning offline), then simply allow the desired schematics to be dropped at certain points, or else through a feasible off-quest that is away from the main storyline.

At least this would make some sort of sense in contrast to the nonsense that all of us must go through which is abusing a trick within the game to "hopefully" net in what you need.

What seems to make this even more annoying is that most drops from my experience don't even cater to your Inquisitor class.  Sure, I've gotten lots of things for Mages, or Rogues, two T3 bows and gosh forbid how much Dagger nonsense that'll drop for me, however I'm a Warrior who is a SnS class, so that helps me none whatsoever in the least.

So not only do the drops already seem to detract from your class, but at least from my experience the T3 schematics also seem to do the same.

The RNG logic should only make sense if you are playing Online, an MMO or whatever, because you're playing with other players.  Howeve this is the Storyline Run through so their should be no reason to have this RNG for T3 schematics in the first place.

Remedy this by having either Off-Quest or Main Quest at the War Table that you must finish to obtain desired T3 Schematics, that would 100% solve this problem already.

I'm really frustrated and at this point, the only reasonable Longsword that I can use will be the Caliban, which isn't even necessarily to my liking because of it's stats (considering I like to customize my own, as well as the name).  Another significant reason I use the Caliban is because it doesn't look like some stupid absurd weird looking longsword.

Thumbs Way Down for RNG T3 Schematics.

If that ends up being the case I am probably going to just give up on Bioware. I don't mind item packs but these are things that SHOULD have been obtainable from the start. If I am expected to pay extra for that... well I am quite done at that point.

To a certain extent, the RNG can help make the game more interesting as you can loot a dungeon and genuinely have no idea what you'll get. There's a certain thrill to doing that.

The issue in DA:I is not so much the RNG, it's the fact there are whole swathes of schematics that are RNG-exclusive. Stuff like this *never* works well because you can theoretically miss half the inventory just by playing the game normally. There should always be a safety net to make sure you can load up on teh l00tz one way or the other.
