I just had opportunity to test these two against each other in a fairly specific set of circumstances, and I believe I've identified a problem that I've noticed for a while.

According to their descriptions, Shadow Strike should be doing significant additional damage when upgraded and attacking from stealth. As far as I can tell, it isn't receiving any bonus damage, at all.

A stealthed Shadow Strike against a Giant in SP did 9 damage with my weapons (and significant critical damage bonuses in the weapons and rings, as well as the "all strikes from stealth are critical" passive.)

A stealthed Dual Strike did 435 damage + 938 damage against the same Giant.

That's a... very, very big difference.

Is there something that I'm missing, or is this an issue of the damage in the code not applying properly for Shadow Strike?

Bumping this because I'm still curious.

9 damage? That's a bug. I've used shadow strike a ton in SP and it regularly did thousands (once I got strong enough weapons) as you would expect.

Hmm. It's a very consistent issue. It does do more than that against weaker humanoid targets, but still doesn't get out of the double digits. Whatever the bug is, it's definitely a persistent one.

I'll probably just replace it with another ability as I level up. I'm on console, so there's not much I can do to test what might be causing it.

you could switch weapons, respec passives, remove masterworks, ensure you have 2 weapons equipped, test with out anything equipped. Really the console doesn't hinder your ability to test things at all.

There's nothing much we can do, unless someone else finds the same problem, then they can help.

Understatement much? ;)

I'm curious about this issue.  Can you post your weapon damage and main offensive stats (Attack, Crit Damage, Flanking Damage, etc.)?

I've done some testing on Shadow Strike as part of a larger effort to try and unmask some of the game's less well documented combat mechanics, and my conclusion is that the bonus damage from stealth or not being damaged recently is either plain bugged or being applied in some manner not consistent at all with what is said in the description.

From what I can tell:

(1) If the ability hits from stealth, the bonus damage (50%) from Stealth is applied correctly, but the "200% bonus damage" mentioned in Shadow Strike's description is not applied at all.

(2) If the ability hits when you have not been damaged for 5 seconds, you receive a damage bonus roughly equivalent to the 50% bonus from attacking from Stealth, but no further bonuses (this includes the 200% bonus Shadow Strike is supposed to give you in this situation).

(3) If the ability hits when you have not been damaged for 5 seconds AND from stealth, you get the same results as case (1).

This ability is not the only ability that's seriously bugged or has a misleading or plain incorrect description that I've come across in my testing. I plan on making a post here summarizing my results in the next few days but as of right now there's still more testing I need to do.
