I hope this is something that sees the light of day for consoles. It would be nice mass moving the party to the same spot, or mass targeting the same enemy without having to do all that scrolling, especially for characters that are at a completely different range than you are.

I agree. I miss being able to shift-click party members to select multiple ones. Hopefully this is added in the near future!

It would be nice to go into tac cam when fighting a dragon and be able to see the entire beast without having to be practically out of range with my bow.

The camera not auto-centering is a dream
I honestly cant really tell the difference.. it only centered for me when i double clicked the portait or the f1-4 keys.. other then that, my camera didnt centeer on a player.. I had to direct it too.. Though,. if im not mistaken, it seems to sivel now.. cant recall, as i still dont find it nearly as useful as past games..
Trying to fight a high dragon last night, it wasnt even an option.. still cant see far enough to get any kidnve view, other than the regular 1st person.. wheres the free floating amera of old? Damned console crap!

I wish we could set our long rang party members on overhangs, cliff sides, or rocks and have them stay there when we change to someone else to position rather than get teleported to the nearest lowest spot.

it's a tiny fix but yeah, the difference is huge. it's still bound to terrain, has collision, terribad zoom, you have to use wsad/hold mouse button to move camera, and you cannot select multiple targets, but... it's better than it was

If we're lucky by 2016 it might be on par with Origins (2009). Minus the no tactics part.

I really don't mind using WSAD to move. I despised it at first, but now I think it's really efficient.
I do TOTALLY agree that we should be able to select multiple party members, though that's a feature I foresee they'll add in the future. I just hope it's soon. :X

BW should cut those WASD controls and sell 'em to a krogan.

I still cannot believe the tac cam is terrain bound. Its puzzling how that made it out of committee.

I just cannot use it.. None of my ranged charcters stay where i command them.. as soon as i swap controlled character, they run wherever they please.. (and not because of a range issue)
During dragon fights, i like to space them out, to avoid any 2 being hit with 1 fireball, or ice blast, etc... They simply wont follow orders.. I cant make 1 or all hold positoion (is this a bug) they move as soon as i change controlled character..Designate a "move to" position, and they move to it, and then back to wherever hey want.. Its infuriating!
If i issue an ability, they may or may not follow through..Sometimes they use it, sometimes they continue to regular attack, worse still sometimes they just stand there staring, forcing me to ht "Y" to attack all.. Even if they had been attacking, the group (or part of it) will just stop attacking and stand in place!
I have asked this question many times, and have yet to receive an answer.. What part of Inquisition is the part of Origins they promoted? They stated Inquisition would be what was good from DA2 (lol), and back to its roots with what was good from Origins.. I se zero Origins in this game.. Not even a resemblance.. Where is it?

If you're in tactical view and you have a character selected, clicking twice on the place you want them to move will have that person individually 'hold position'

The problem is the A.I forgets "hold" commands when you switch from tactical to over-the-shoulder view. In Origins you could simply use the mouse or WASD to move characters without switching "modes" with different A.I rules.
The entire concept of the "tactical camera" is a failure (likely a result of designing for consoles first) and a step back from the functionality they introduced in 2009. Sadly, the new company leadership seems too proud to admit to any design faults and we will probably never see this exciting new feature scrapped.

Does the "Hold Position" work now? Or is your archer and mage still running into melee?

That's not an issue for a tactical cam. It's a problem to solved in another missing department of Bioware - AI development.

I agree with him the whole tactical cam needs to go and give me back my Dragon Age 2 combat... It was really the only good part of dragon age 2 to be honest..
