The tactical combat is what makes this game.

At least for me, it does.

I'm a big fan of tactical combat, that's why I'm replaying DA:O for the 4th time now and it's one of the major reasons why I prefer it over DA:I.

In Inquisition you have very little control over your party without tedious micromanagement. The game seems to be balanced around making you so powerful you can just ignore tactics and faceroll every encounter (I play only on nightmare and I'm very disappointed in the challenge, and no I'm not bragging, I don't think it's anything to be proud of).

The terrible tac cam, 8 ability limit, gutting of A.I tactics, broken abilities, laughable documentation and ridiculous difficulty curve, all make for a poor experience for people who enjoy tactical combat.

The sad part is, this game has so much potential, but it will likely never reach it since Bioware decided they dont give a **** about mods either, so the community will likely never be able to redeem this game (like it did with NWN, DA:O, Oblivion, Skyrim, etc).

I guess I'm no longer Bioware's target audience, I will move on to support other companies and games that still believe in tactical gameplay. All this company seems to care about now is appealing to the lowest common denominator. Thankfully there are alternatives, I will be voting with my wallet.

I'm not really sure I understand, because you completely contradicted yourself in your second paragraph. The game is impossible without micromanagement but you can faceroll through Nightmare? What? Please make up your mind.

And I don't know what you're talking about. I, too, play on Nightmare, and if I faceroll for one second during a serious encounter I am dead or at least ALL of my potions are taken up in a matter of one fight.

My point was, you don't need to play tactically to destroy the game if you take advantage of crafting. And post-skyhold, you don't even need crafting to become completely overpowered. Many builds can solo the game with ease when you make use of the crafting system.

So the game becomes easy, not because of intricate tactics, but simply because you (and your companions) are each a walking war machine if built right that can carry the whole party themselves if controlled properly.

That being said, the A.I is simplistic and often plain stupid, so it falls upon you to either carry your idiot party to victory, or to pause and micromanage the party every second.
