So a few days ago I made a thread asking which characters people would be friends with in real life, emphasizing the fact that you would not be the Inquisitor, Hawke, or The Warden. You'd be you, and you would approach it from a purely realistic-to-your-personality point of view, with no roleplaying involved. For the sake of science, feel free to mention non-companions, or ignore a character's orientation. Or not, it's up to you.

 

Bam! You've been dropped into the Dragon Age universe! Who would you romance?

 

 

For me: Unfortunately no one jumps to mind immediately Well that's a bit depressing, considering all the people in the games. There are a lot that I like just fine, but not in a real life relationship kind of way.

Well that's tricky to imagine since if we don't have any roleplaying involved then we'd have to consider all the problematic things about characters that we otherwise love in the game. For example, Dorian is lovely, but he DID own slaves and is not even against it. Would you actually want to be friends with that person regardless of how great they otherwise were? Iron Bull is part of a 'religion' that forces people into certain roles, would you actually want to be around someone like that? etcetcetc

 

But if we ignore those things, then I'd say Dorian, Iron Bull, and Varric would be cool to hang out with just to name a few.

But most likely Josephine with Merrill being a close second.

Hmmmm. Out of the companions, assuming any of them were interested, I think that only Zevran would be a good fit for me, and then only as a fling. I don't do romantic relationships, and most of the other male characters get far too emotionally attached to their partners for me to let them anywhere near me. (IRL I would run a mile from Alistair, Fenris, Anders, Cullen, Blackwall and even Varric. Obviously Sebastian is right out.) I would totally #ridethebull ... only he wants to top, so no. Nothing wrong with that, but let's just say that it would make us completely incompatible.

 

An evening with Zevran sounds like a good time, though! So I guess I know who I should flirt with if I am every magically transported to Thedas, in between running away from everything.

This is so difficult because so many of them have such serious issues, but with that in mind...

Alistair, Sebastian, and Cullen each have a sweet gentleness to them that might be good for a relationship. Outside of their various plot issues (such as the various successions or the lyrium, etc) of course. I'm not religious myself, but it doesn't bother me in others. However, Solas has the kind of serious intelligence I'm totally crazy about; he even loves questions and long bouts of talking. That can be quite rare, at least in my experience. He's also quite passionate and gentle when he wants to be. So in another world I'd throw any misgivings to the wind and go for him easily.  When have I ever chosen what was best for me anyways?

Probably Dorian. Sera's pretty cool too but I haven't seen her romance yet so idk. Those are the only people I feel really comfortable with, everyone else hold the Inq to some impossible standards and idolize him, too freaking serious all the time.

Morrigan's also really something but knowing her it would've been safer to admire her from afar. 

And DA2 is just a no-no area,such a nut cases all of them...

He doesn't. His family does and as he says "they treat them well". He haven't seen the worst of it, he even says they pay them. For him, slaves are just servants I guess. So that's just nope,really nope.

I could only ever ask for Dorian of all characters. But seriously, I haven't found a single thing in the game I dislike about him. His wit, his charm, his arrogance, his accent, his confidence (even if false), and his stylin' mustache. I like it all. 

 

But then we have Josephine whom I find ridiculously cute. IDK. Most likely Dorian.^
