The mounts are very nice, I love the models especially the Harts, but what is the point?

Maps like Hinterlands and graves are to hilly to ride a mount, if you do ride around in these parts you are slowed by rocks that are basically everywhere, or dismounted from enemies.

The only maps I really get to use them are in the desert zones, and even then I sometimes choose not to because it cuts out party banter.

They are good for these large sand zones but other then that they are quite useless so I can assume their not meant to be of big importance.

The horse race quest from the hinterlands was fun, I would love to see more mount related missions in game, and I enjoyed collecting all the mounts.  Cinamatics featuring you on a mount would also be interesting.

The harts sound could really use a change, when you begin to run it makes this horrid screaching sound, just about made my cat shite, since the other sounds of the hart are closely related to a low grunt sound, it does not make alot of sence as to why it sounds like an elephant.

Some people have also mentioned the mount speed is quite slow, but I think they run at an ok speed for the map sizes.

The mounts do not interupt my gameplay and it's not a major issue for me, but there is potential for them,  especially since the Harts and horses are done so well, their animations and movements are very realistic.

Unless they have DLC planned for mount use, that we don't know about, then mounts are pretty much a wasted resource that could have been spent on Quests, Hair Styles, Armor options, Helmets....etc..etc....

I like the idea of having a mount but they aren't really practical in game.

I haven't actually heard the hart mount in the game, but I'm pretty sure I know what you're referring to. Elk and other such creatures actually sound like that in real life [link to sound], so they probably won't change it.

I simply don't use them because they kill party banter. I would use them if our companions stayed out.

Makes sense, thanks for the update, still wish they would remove it since you tend to get stopped on things all to often and have to pick up a run again, so it's a continuous sound.  Maybe if they kept the sound but just toned it down some.

Outside of the race in the Hinterlands and once in the Hissing Wastes after completion of the main quest I never used a mount. There's just no point to it.

I can either have a large world to explore or I can travel through it quickly. I can't have both. That my companions vanish instead of getting their own mounts doesn't help either.

I can understand putting mounts in the game for people who want to use them, but why exactly did they choose to re-skin each one a bunch of times?

It's mystifying how that was considered a worthwhile investment.

I said all along that I didn't understand why people were so gung-ho about mounts. I think Cassandra said it best: horses are just dung monsters with hooves and tails.

That said, I actually do use the mounts a fair bit, so they weren't a waste of resources for me.

The draw of a collection quest, though, is that you don't actually have to do anything. It's just cheap busywork that you can throw in to keep the player engaged.

But they came up with a bunch of different appearances for the same handful of models, put in a store where you could buy them and an interface where you could select them and a stable where you could see them, and for what? Minimal HP differences that likely have no practical effect in a game where they already serve little purpose beyond idle convenience?

Why can't your companions ride mounts? Do they have to disappear? Where do they even go?? In the Inquisitor's pockets? I wanna hear them talk while I ride majestically on a Dracolisk across the desert....

I like the idea of mounts.  I use them in Skyrim.  But you can also search for stuff while mounted. What would be nice is if your party could ride mounts as well and they still chatted when you are not going at a gallop.  It would also be nice if you could still search for resources while mounted, dismounting only when you need/desire to collect.  Spindleweed?  Nah, got enough thank-you.

Yeah, some nice mounts included in the Digital Deluxe Version. BUT...... Totally not usefull and thus (up till now, maybe DLC will fix it)) a total waste of the money i paid for this version.

Riding a horse in this game just gives me the itch to play Red Dead Redemption were the horses are actually fast.

The largest downside to mounting up is missing all the party banter

They're not even that fast. They need to actually have some gallop to be more universally useful. Most of the time my warrior just Charging Bulls to places, since he doesn't need to spend time summon/mounting/dismounting, doesn't have to listen to the mount, cannot be interrupted, AND gets party banter.

The harts I found esp. annoying on PC, because while in sprint you could only go to complete stop and they don't like that AT ALL. As cool as they look hearing them shriek "eeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeheheheh" all the time is just. Not. Worth it.
