, nah i think i've gotten enough people mad at me for one day , perhaps another time ![]()
I didn't read this whole thread as it's a lot of blatant ignorance and people yelling at each other. And people have mentioned this already but... few criticized the people going on about 'Harding for LI' BEFORE THE GAME EVEN CAME OUT. Seriously, it started after one demo where she literally said two lines and there were guys posting in there with
faces because she wasn't available. Starting a thread about wanting Krem as a romance after actually playing the game makes more sense. Personally, I have little interest in Krem as an LI because, while I like the character, I didn't find him compelling enough to want to romance the guy. That might change if they expanded on the character, but presently I feel indifferent.
That said, I would be okay romancing a trans male character in a game. I would also be okay with dating a trans man in real life. I've even been attracted to a couple. Just to clarify, I'm straight and have always considered myself such. I like men. Have zero interest in or attraction for women. But for me, if you look like, act like, sound like, and think of yourself as male, to me you are one, to where I could potentially be attracted to you. What is or isn't in your pants is irrelevant.
I understand not all straight women feel this way. Some would be uncomfortable with the idea. Some straight women are also uncomfortable with the idea of dating a bisexual man, but the ones that aren't are no 'less' straight. Hell, I've even known gay people who won't date bisexuals. So let's all stop making big sweeping generalizations about people, huh? Especially when it comes to something as personal and nuanced as individuals and their sexuality.

That's the problem with SJWs. Always needing validation.

Nty, not interested in romancing a corpse.
Krem wasn't even interesting when alive, all Krem's dialogue can be boiled down to "I'm trans" and "Tevinter are evulz", How bloody fascinating.

Yeah, no. It easily made sense, more than for Krem. Harding was simply attractive and she was a dwarf. Something that some wanted since a long time ago, Most guys asking about her were those who weren't fond of their current options with Cass and josie even before the release, so they jumped on her. That was so simple to understand that there was hardly any reason to ask why all the fuss around her.
I criticize people about everything, especially going on endlessly about romances.. Hmm perhaps I'm not vocal enough about it.

So... it was because she was female and a dwarf? Because she was cute? I'm not saying it was so out there I couldn't understand it, but those are rather shallow reasons, and yet no one questioned it. Meanwhile there's quite a few posts in the thread going 'why the hell would you want to romance Krem!?' like it's the most preposterous idea ever. Just pointing out the disparity in reaction.
EDIT: I'm not criticizing the pre-game launch Harding fans, I had my 'Dorian's hot and I hope he's a romance' posts before his character blurbs came out too... Again, just pointing out the difference in reaction.

These are shallow reasons lol. I totally agree I just think it's normal. Why would people loose their time to question things like I want to bang this or that ? Such trivial things ? A topic like Leliana or harding as Li because she is the most attractive female character working in the inquisition in this game ? That's a waste of time in my opinion. Nothing to discuss except having fun or trolling. I rarely see the need to participate in those threads. However, when someone fell in love with the content of a character in the game, his story, his background or his personality, there's way more to discuss, than his attractiveness;
- Why would you want to romance an ugly woman like Vivienne ?
- Because I don't find her ugly to be honest. She is attractive to me.
Here, basically why it serves no purpose to ask those questions when it's about attractiveness, when we have shallow topics. You learn way more when people fall in love with a character because of the content in the game. I genuily was interested to know why people were fascinated by Krem. I found him rather uninteresting, I could learn their point of view, beyond I didn't find him boring.
Besides the fact that he doesn't have a penis, what is actually interesting about Krem?
Well, compare him to your average DA:I NPCs as "discouraged hunter" or "elven widow" and he starts to look like the most complex and interesting character you've ever seen ![]()
Also I like his innovative and ground breaking methods of engaging the chair.

Okay, when you put it that way I do understand
It just seemed that some of the posts were reacting to Krem being a trans character, even if it wasn't said outright, especially since some of those posters went on to say things that were... ignorant, at best. Again, just calling out the disparity, not attacking anyone individually for asking.

It always amuses me when people go into romance threads, (presumably) read them, then reply saying they hate how people go on 'endlessly' about the romances.
I have no clue.
Krem isn't even that interesting.
Jennifer Hale.Need I explain more ![]()
I love Jennifer Hale's voice (FemShep ftw) but Krem is as dull as dishwater, imo. I don't see the fascination, but to each their own. *shrug*
I'm not sure Krem is actually supposed to be super duper interesting. Maybe some of the point was that he's just an ordinary guy, apart from being trans. He's a side character rather than part of the main cast, so there isn't really any expectation (for me) that he's wildly more intriguing than Dennet or Harrit or the excitable requisitions guy or Minaeve or whoever. Harding you pretty much have to interact with, but Krem you could quite easily go through the whole game without speaking to him more than maybe once and it wouldn't be a big deal.

Now, I think Krem is a cool dude and everything but....
"SJW wet dream" <-------------------------------- LOL!!!!! ![]()
Dont get all the krem love to be perfectly honest. Wait I do, i know hes an sjw wet dream and all that but really, i found him just as boring as most of the other peripheral characters. Out of both basic respect and also complete disinterest i never pry into the conversation options discussing his personal life.
I realise there are a lot of self important people out there who feel they are on a crusade to get characters like Krem treated as a normal occurance in games, but to me personally im already there - its just down to more writers to write them.
For me I much preferred the crazy elf charger who denies shes a mage. She at least gave me a laugh or two.
Edit: Also Jennifer Hale + attempting to sound tough = torture to my ears. I think Jennifer Hale is one of the most supremely talented voice actresses out there - except when she tries to sound tough. Key word "tries". Ive disliked her "tough girl" voice since Illasera from BGII, but Ive loved her softer voice since BG Dynaheir and Naomi from MGS.
Dalish (the elf who denies being a mage) should've been Bull's right hand woman now that you mention it, she comes across as infinitely more interesting than Krem.

Does she? She's pretty damned one note too. Her entire thing is that she pretends to be an archer. She literally does it in both conversations that she's involved in and, unless I'm forgetting something, that's it. I mean, don't get me wrong, she was funny. But she's not exactly a well-developed character or terribly interesting in her own right.....

Neither is Krem, who got bucket loads more screen time in comparison to Dalish. The fact that she was funny and managed to elicit a chuckle or two from her brief appearance(s) already puts her a step above Krem. All just my opinion, of course. (And for the record, I don't dislike Krem, the whole fascination with him is just lost on me.)
Dalish being comedic relief doesn't make her a better right hand, or more interesting. And she obviously wasn't meant to be. Even the character with actual potential, Grem, was gimped so no one would care about him being a chief/king. None of the other Chargers were meant to be bothered with.
Krem is alright, just kind of there.
As for who he'd be interested in, I thought I heard a comment from Bull saying he's trying to impress some tavern girl.

Yeah, I agree about Krem. I just find Dalish to be one-note as well. I actually think that the two of them are the least interesting Chargers.

Yeah, Grim is interesting to me. He's the one that I want to know the most about.

That's interesting. I could see that.

I'll try to find it again to confirm.

Hmm so he'd be intrested in girls at least ![]()

I wish we had the opportunity to talk to all of them and really get to know them ![]()
