Hello & welcome.

It might be a good idea for everyone to know each other better, so feel free to present yourself & your art/drawings preferences, your current skill & mediums, etc

I'll start:

Art Level & experiences : None

Complete beginner, starting to draw anything more complicated than figure sticks starting 2015. Never took art classes before except in grade school, but always doodling at the margin of my quantum physics text books.

Preferred Medium:

Pencil & paper, soft pastel, watercolour pencil, my graphic tablet Toothless the Wacom, Photoshop CS5.

EDIT: please feel free to not following the format I started with... If you want to say you love cats and muffins, say it <_<

Your turn

Another complete beginner. I've never done more than doodle and complain about how much I wish I could draw; it's only since developing a nasty case of Cullenitis that I've begun trying to improve in a (vaguely) focused way.

Preferred Medium:
Pencil & paper. I also have an old Wacom Bamboo that I got as a present almost a year ago... and never actually got around to opening.  So I expect I'll be trying to come to grips with that over the next few days.  It'll certainly make sharing sketches easier, assuming I can get my head around it.

Art Level & Experience: Moderate

I've been drawing since I was 12, and have taken quite a few art courses. My dream was to work as a concept artist within the gaming industry, but my family was strongly against it. I became a scientist instead, and kept art as a hobby.

Preferred Medium:

Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. I use traditional media as well, but I prefer the freedom and flexibility of the digital realm. I love fantasy as a genre, and love to design characters. You can find some of my work on DevArt here

Art Level & Experience: Moderate

I started drawing and painting seriously a few years ago. Nowhere near the level I want to be though. I have kind of lost my confidence in my art recently and haven't been drawing as much as I'd like to, so I'm trying to get into it again.

Preferred Medium:
Pencil, Photoshop. People are my favourite subject but I also like painting environments, creatures and such.

Art Level & experiences: Intermediate (I think, I've kinda been slacking off last year, not practicing, so I'm working my butt off now)

I've been drawing since I was young and I didn't take any classes. It was when I got to high school that I took it more seriously, the school had a visual arts program. So there I learned the basics, and some more advanced stuff later on (painting/sketching live models, and working with different mediums). I'm currently studying Fine Arts at a University.

Preferred medium:

pencil/coloured pencils, though I'm pretty open to anything, watercolour, acrylic, oil. I have a tablet, but I'm kinda slow when it comes to digital stuff. I like to draw faces, and animals.

Hello, and thank you for this group :).

Art level & experience: Complete beginner. I had art courses in school but like Faelchu, I haven't drawn anything in 18-20 years. I think I still manage a stick figure.

I always loved games and digital storytelling, so I decided to participate in further training courses in game development a few years ago. And half of my peers were graphic designers. I was so intimidated by their art that I thought: "Pff, why bother? You will never get there". So I never tried. But playing DAI and seeing the great art that people post in the Cullen thread has inspired me now to give it at least a try.

Preferred medium: Paper, pencil and watercolours. I have on old Photoshop CS3 version and a cheap drawing tablet, too, but drawing on the tablet feels awkward. At least it does at the moment.

Welcome :D Glad you've joined this little group :)

As far as using a tablet is concerned, you are absolutely right - it is very awkward. But only to begin with. I barely even think about it anymore :) If you enjoy painting in digital media, I am sure you'll get used to a tablet soon, and have a lot of fun using it :) Meanwhile, if you have any questions, feel free to ask :) Also, check out our tips thread :)

This shall be an exciting group!

Art level & experience: Beginner. I've made textures for games (as a hobby) and such and kind of know my way around those, but when it comes to doing paintings/pictures I don't really have a clue what I am doing, just going with the flow. I prefer to draw characters especially faces, hoping to branch out and do full body as well. I find that getting the right colours are extremely hard.

Preferred medium: Photoshop

I'm excited to be here, guys!

Art level & experience: Beginner. I used to draw when I was younger, 15 years ago or so, and usually from still life or photographs. Never had a knack for faces, all my people looked cross eyed :) would definitely like to hone this skill because once I've mastered Cullen, I wanna draw my 2 yr old baby boy <3

Preferred medium: pencil and paper, preferably the super smudgy kind

Yay! I have had drawing pencils and sketch paper collecting dust for ages!!

Oh and I have three cats and I LOVE muffins!! :D

Thought I would join the party. :)

Art Level & Experience: Moderate

Been drawing on and off since I was a child. For the last 10 years been working with Maya & Photoshop creating 3D models/textures etc. It's only been the last year that I have progressed back into non-digital art. So from a non digital stand-point, I would probably class myself as a beginner again.

Preferred Medium:

There are so many I use. Wacom tablet, Copics, Coloured Pencils (Prismacolors, S.Noir, Luminance, Inktense, Polychromos), Gesso, Gelatos, Inks, Photoshop, Pencil & Paper, Watercolours..

I have a slight obsession with coffee, copics and coloured pencils.

Oh and I have two black Labradors and stole QweenBeen's Muffins.

Hi! I needed something like this so much; I know there are many beginner artists out there, I hope our numbers grow!

Art level & experience: beginner

I've been drawing since I was a child; I used to draw everyday, all the time, but when I reached my teens I became self-conscious and ashamed because I never took any art lessons. So I stopped drawing altogether. I've been trying to rekindle my drawing passion from time to time, but always felt like a child playing with daddy's computer so I never finished anything. I was recently inspired by all the lovely artists doing DA stuff, so I decided it was about time I returned to drawing only for pleasure.

Preferred medium: pencils and paper. I'm also starting to experiment with watercolours; I love colour, but I've always drawn with whatever old pen and paper I could find around the house, so I'm having a hard time adapting to coloured drawings. Still I love the "ligne claire" look when pencil and watercolours are combined, and that's what I'm currently trying to achieve.

I've been drawing for a few years and have taken a few art classes, but I'm largely self-taught. I think I'm okay at drawing people, but I need a lot of practice at drawing backgrounds. My characters all stand around in a white void at the moment!

Preferred Medium: pencil, ink, markers, watercolour, coloured pencils, Photoshop, Sai
