@ Shantia

She looks beautiful :) Glad I could help, and can't wait to see your progress :)

@ ACD

Glad you like things so far :) It'll probably change quite a lot by the end, but so far so good :)

@ procutemeister

Thank you :) AC has wonderful art, but I never managed to really get into the game. I think it's because I suck at consoles...

So, my cold has turned rather nasty and wouldn't let me sleep. I ended up getting out of bed at 6:30 am :( And, just to pass the time, I started working on my hubby's portrait. It's still very rough, but I managed to capture his defining features. I know this is OT, but, oh well :)

@Tesh: (Why OT? I don't get it...) Oooh he's cute! Wow well drawn Tesh :D

Are you going to colour it or is it a greyscale piece?

@Shantia: I like the cheekbones ;)

Wow everyone's drawing so much

@Tesh I hear you, I have a rather nasty cold as well and got to spend the whole weekend indoors, that's why I finished my flamenco painting so quickly. I like OT art as well, your hubby is looking good, sorry I can't add more suggestions.

@Shantia yep she's looking good, perhaps the right eye a bit front-ish? (Like it's seen from the front) If Tesh told you it's ok don't mind me, I can't see very clear with viruses clouding my eyes xD

@Ceru I see you changed the leaf's position! I like it better now, can't wait to see it coloured.

Edit: Wish granted! You finished it already!

@Vor & Tesh: well, that makes the three of us being kept indoors this week end drawing...

@Vor: yup, you guys are right about the leaf position, looks much better above than below. Thanks :D

It's OT b/c it's not DA-related :) But, I picked up the courage to draw him after finishing Cullen's portrait, soo... :) He's pretty happy with my progress so far. I think I am getting better at capturing features :) And yes, it will be a coloured piece. But because the lighting in the photo is crappy, I have to establish the tones in grayscale first, and then colour. He has beautiful blue eyes, like the sea, so I have to draw this in colour :)

Hope everyone will get over their colds soon :)

Oooh sea blue eyes! That's rare no? I mean I see lots of people with blue eyes around here but only one got eyes as blue as the sea. Saw a portrait drawing once too, about an old man with sea blue eyes. Greyscale, except for the eyes.

Personally I don't think we should limit discussions in this group for DA related drawings honestly. True, we all start with DA related drawings but since this is a more or less private group, why not keep it real open for all kind of art & drawings discussions? What do you think guys & gals?

Hope that everyone recover quickly ;)

OoOoooo Yes, we are a private group, so no mod will shut us down if we go OT, right?

Great :) In that case, we don't need to worry if we go overboard with non-DA stuff :)

And, yes, my hubby has interesting eyes. They change with the light. When it's clouded outside, they look grey, when it's sunny, they look like the sea in the Caribbean :) I'll post an update later today.

Well alright then, since we're all awesome let's keep the discussion open on any sort of drawings & art

Still, I'd heavily suggest anyone who wants to put any NSFW drawings under spoiler & say it clearly. Some people might want to avoid that.

Okay, I tried to correct Del's waist & hips: which one looks better?

@ Ceru

I think V2 has a better curvature.

If I am going to continue working on this drawing today, I will probably ruin it. I'll have to take a small break from it. Here's how far I've come:

@Ceru I agree with the others v.2 is better :)

@Tesh wow it looks great, I love the eyes. I've noticed that breaks can be good, it was so much easier to continue on my piece this morning than it was last night when I had looked at it almost all day.

I've progressed a little bit, I can't wait til I get better at this and it'll be faster, right now everything takes forever hehe.

@ Shantia - Yep, you'll get faster with practice :) She's beautiful, by the way. I keep on thinking Egyptian Queen when I look at her :)

@Tesh thank you :D I really like how she's turning out as well. Maybe I'll do a version with egyptian inspired hair and make-up. I am actually mostly doing this piece to practice hair on, and to show off what hairstyles she could be wearing, I was hoping of doing something quick, but I am a bit of perfectionist (until I run out of patience) so it's taking alot longer than expected. But it is very good practice, the angle of the head is very hard to paint, so I am learing alot :)

@Ceru I'm shamelessly jumping on the bandwagon :P No seriously, v.2 looks better.

@Tesh wow if your husband's eyes resemble that colour, I must say he has gorgeous eyes!

@Shantia There was something familiar about the face and Tesh nailed it: her face reminds me a bit of the Nefertiti bust. I'd love to see an Egyptian style version :)

@Tesh & Shantia: Wow you guys are wizard for colouring the eyes... I'm drooling   (whoops)

Just an ultra quick pencil sketch study for Del's face once again... Well, need to study Loomis' method so... :D

Do any of you spot something rather weird on this one? Somehow something's off...

Guess that I might try to "paint" this one with greyscale on photoshop if I can manage...

@Ceru it looks good, very good for being a ultra quick one. I think maybe the lips a bit more to the left? And the nostril to the left maybe should be a bit higher up? And maybe put the cheekbone to the left a bit lower down?

Ceru, Since this is 3/4 view, the eyes need to be drawn accordingly as well. You have drawn the left eye from a frontal view, and it should be 3/4. I think the cheekbone is a bit high as well. Also, in this view, I don't think you see quite so much of the left nostril (bit that is minor).

Edit: Of course, because I just got up, and haven't finished my coffee yet, I am half asleep, and forgot to say what is really important: you are making incredible progress!!! This is excellent for a quick sketch :) Keep at it :)

@Shantia & Tesh: Thanks :)

@Tesh: I tried to use your 4 petals trick to draw the lips, work quite well. I'm currently trying to side eye myself on the mirror to see how my eyes look like in 3/4 view :D

R2s gave me the frontal shot only so I had to guess from there. Currently correcting the cheekbones (easier) & the eyes (Whoops... Loomis book... Loomis book... Loominousfish book...) & the nostril (easier).

@Shantia: the lip to the left...? Hmmm I tried but it's not working somehow on the paper... I'll see that again.

Thanks :)

@Ceru The lips might look better when the nostril is not showing as much, I just thoguht it looked a bit off center, but it could be due to the nostril showing too much.

Wow Ceru, what a quick sketch! I also see the right ear a bit high.
