Ceru, I can try to edit this in PS once I get home from work, so you'll get a better idea of what lines are off. Seems like it's giving you a bit of a head ache ![]()
Nah I can also try to correct this myself, need to learn how to do this ![]()
Can you please give some pointers on what's still off? I lowered the right ear, corrected the nostril, and the cheekbones & try to make the eyes look more like in 3/4 position...
Umm... She looks like she is squinting from her right eye... But the left eye is good
Maybe try to go a little lighter on your pencil lines, so it will be easier to correct.
Bon...trying my best ![]()
V3

V4

I like V3 better, but if you will have the nose in that position, then the right eye must be nudged a bit further to the right. But the shape looks better now ![]()
I should have included how to construct the lips from the petals in 3/4 view as well... I'll do that once I get home from work.
How about this? The eye I mean, I can't correct V3 on paper since it's already on V4... so digitally corrected... IIRC it's one eye distance between left & right...

Are you going to do some shading on this one?
Hoo thanks! I'm working on her lip (Loominousfish book!)
Yup, need to practice these:
- realistic Greyscale shading (photoshop I guess, the pencil line is too strong already on paper).
- SAI lineart (different thickness)
- 2D rendering (simple colouring probably)
I actually... get a project with this character... involving R2s new fic. She's telling me the ending right now & I just have to draw that one (she's kind enough to let me do that hehe). Can't do that drawing on my own Lavellan due to story reason.
@Cerulione Maybe if you take a pic or look at yourself in the mirror in the same position as your drawing, maybe that could help with the angle of the eye. :3
sometimes I use myself as a reference ![]()
Good idea, thanks AC!
@Ceru that's perseverance! (see what I did there? wink wink) Practice makes better. What AC says is very useful too, many times I use my own hands as reference.
I'm working, too! I hereby present you Ghilan'nain, Mother of the Halla. Some people at the Solas thread are drawing AU elven gods; this codex about Ghilan'nain creating strange animals and monsters inspired me this drawing. Because of the mad-scientist idea, I decided to give her kind of a Steampunk look (you can follow the link to get an idea in case you are not familiar with Steampunk aesthetic)
I plan to make this into a bigger watercolour+pencil painting, but I want to do a couple sketches first to get the lines right, so the watercolour doesn't have pencil stains. This one is just started, almost didn't start with the shading as I prefer to do it with daylight

@ Vor
The concept is really nice
Looking forward to seeing the watercolour ![]()
@Vor: Can't wait to see it coloured ![]()
Are you going to draw her full body or just the head?
Elven Pantheon on AU? I need to make a detour on Solas Thread! ![]()
What's she's holding actually?
So here's some progress of what I'm doing for the art trade with @Teshayel, It's a DAI crossover! I have to draw Cass as if she was in Borderlands, so yea, very tricky... I am faaaaaaar from done, this is just a quick idea, or something, so she may or may not be posing like this in the finished version.
I need to study her face more *disgusted noise* ![]()

Bahahahaa
You got her spirit down pat. I can almost hear her grumbling ![]()
*disgusted noise*! That's awesome! You guys are really crazy you know that? Aaaaah I can't wait to see how it progress ![]()
Well, Dell V6... Correction on the lip, trying to make it more 3/4 (digitally on SAI)

@ Ceru - Looking good so far
I kind of want to nudge the mouth a little to the left, though. Does teh drawing look good to you when you flip the canvas in SAI?
And, I started detailing Izzy
Stupid promotional images gave her a much lighter skin tone, though. I'll have to darken the tone... It's confusing when my references are off ![]()

lol I know how that feels, She's looking great! She should actually make a cameo in the game ![]()
and @Ceru I love how it's coming! ![]()
Ok guys, mini update, fixed her face a bit (still not done) buuuut she has a tattoo! and she has legs (sorta) who knew?!
She is a total rebel now
(almost)
looks like I softened her expression
*slightly less disgusted noise*

and no, those two strap looking things at her waist have nothing to do with her undergarments, it's on her shirt ![]()
@ACD101: hehe Cass with a soft expression = smutty litterature...
...I'll stop.
Have a Dell! Is the line too thick? This is my first lineart trial so I'm not sure about the thickness, somehow the line around her face seems a bit thick...
Del Lineart V1

ACD101, please go to sleep ![]()
Say everyone, which one among the V1 (see above post), V2 & V3 that you prefer the most for the line thickness?
Del Lineart V2

Del Lineart V3

@ AC - F-YEAH!!! Tattoo!!! I'm loving the concept
Looks awesome ![]()
@ Ceru - I think I like V1 better. Looking good
Ceru, if I lived anywhere near you, I'd buy you a drink to celebrate your improvement ![]()
@Tesh & ACD101: Ooh too bad, I'd definitely bake us all cookies & cakes (my cooking won't kill you!
)
Actually it's thanks to all of you. Your advices, even your progress each. I don't think it'll be as informative learning just a dead old master's works compared to working beside all beginner artists & sharing our works & progress. We all make mistake, we corrected our mistake, we see each other's mistakes. That helps in avoiding making the same mistake... Nah I really learn more at looking your drawings progress than studying Rembrandt or anyone else ![]()
@Ceru and @Tesh yeaaa time to celebrate!
I'll get party hats, and sparkles (lol just kidding about the sparkles, too messy)!
@Ceru and yes I agree with Tesh, V1 looks more balanced with all the lines being a similar thickness ![]()
