@Tesh Thanks a lot! I'm loving your Izzy, really really looking forward to seeing her finished.

@Ceru I'm planning on drawing just the head for now, if I get inspiration for her outfit I may give it another try with full torso. She's holding a kind of surgical knife, I hope it's more recognizable in the final version  :D And yes, they got a bit crazy about it now, but a few pages ago there were some cool interpretations of the elven pantheon, mostly with a 70s, Velvet Goldmine touch. Main posters were nikki-tikki, Rabbitonfire and Lizasaurus, in case you want to check their posts. Your lineart is looking great! I can't tell any difference between the three, but I'm on my laptop and can't see them properly. Anyway, it's great improvement, I will join the celebrations! I can bake some cupcakes  ^_^

@AC Borderlands Cassandra is looking good! I also love the tattoo.

Why the tears, Ceru? You're doing well :) All you need is highlights :) Don't forget to shade her eye whites as well - the eye is a sphere, so there will be highlights and shadows on it :)

Hey Ceru they're looking good! I like the cartoon style better, but that's my personal preference, but I think both are going well. And I can tell light is coming from the left!

@Tesh: It's... rather frustrating to say the least.

@Vor: at this stage I guess the 2D must looks much better ;)

Thanks :)

Just a silly unfinished quick doodle because I need a break from shading. Maybe I'll really makes these real drawings with simple colour...

@Cerulione

That's such a lovely comic/doodle you did! I love the simplicity of it, and the words!  ^_^

Thanks... That just pop into my head this afternoon.

Another sketch dump: It's a good thing that my little elf in Skyhold prefer killing dragons to drawing... or this might happen:

@Ceru I love your "learning to draw" little comic :)

Well, I wanted to make a bigger version of Ghilan'nain, similar to the final size, to get the lines and shading right. Err I may have gotten carried away a bit a lot Lines are still not finished but I wanted to show you guys how it's looking. Maker help me shading this  :crying:

@ Ceru - The comics are hilarious :D Love 'em :) Maybe you'd enjoy doing stuff like aimo :)

@ Vor - I really like all the details. Very intricate :) Can't wait to see the finished product :) You're doing really well so far.

@ Kaibe - Looking good. It's all free-hand, right? You did not measure anything? It might help you get the proportions down more accurately if you start measuring, i.e. how long is the face compared to its width? How many times does the nose fit in the length? How many times do the eyes fit in the width? etc. :)

Edit: I am planning on starting on Timebean's drawing tonight, so Izzy and my hubby's portrait will have to be put on the backburner. I wanted to start earlier, but my cold has been getting worse. Yesterday I went to bed at 5pm, woke up hungry at midnight and ate an apple, then went back to sleep until 7am. I could still sleep O.o Meanwhile, I am coughing my head off... everyone's giving me the evil eye in the lab :P

@Teshayel- Thanks for the advice!

@Vor: She starts to take form :)

Which paper size are you doing this on? A4? Nah, just finish the lines & think about shading later

@Procute: Please don't worry, take your time. No one's chasing you here, I promise there won't be any punishment including boiling people in oils if they don't draw. We're nice...(mostly ;)).  :P

@Kaibe: Oh wow! Bella is very very Beautiful. Belle indeed ;)

@Tesh: get well soon, take care :(

Aimo's works are fun. But honestly I am always ensnared more by storybooks than comics. There are something in old fashioned storybook illustrations that's just... magical. ;)

Say, which version do you like better?

V1: No Glow Trace

V2: With Glow Trace

Spoiler

The list of drawings to finish is already very long... But for unknown personal reason I just have the impulse & need to actually make full colour version of that drawing comic... Colouring these kind of drawings is real fun actually

@Tesh take care! I'm better but I passed my load of viruses to my bf  :(

@Ceru It's A4, the drawing takes a bit more than 3/4 of the page. Yes I think I will focus on the lines, my old "obsession to detail" (that can't be called just attention!) has come back and I know it will take some time  :D

I like the V2 better, and in general love your little glowing fairy.

@Cerulione- Wow, the luminescence is beautiful and that's a cute little fairy. I particularly like V2.
Added some shading to the earlier picture of Leliana.

@Kaibe & Vor: thanks, V2 it is then :)

That kind of "glowing" is often used by these artists actually: Marie Cardouat, Gaelle Boissonnard, Anne-Sophie Rutsaert. I like their works & colour & style. Just fun & not very realistic

@Vor: I like the details you put without making it "dirty". That's something.

@ Kaibe: love the hair :D

She looks rather pensieve there...

Well... I can't sleep so here's part 2/3 and 3/3 on that "fairy" drawings...

Spoiler

Part 1/3 is still lineart...

Heavily struggling with colour choice for the shirt... It must be something that's light for Part 1 sake, but not withstanding since the focus must be on the fairy...

@ Ceru - I'm a little late to the party, but I vote for V2 as well :) Ceru drawing at 2am is also very cute :D I see you are having fun with colours - good. That's how it should be :)

@ Kaibe - Looking good so far :) Keep it up :)

As for myself, I managed to work just a bit on my hubby's portrait. Started to block in the colours :) He is very excited about it so far. Keeps on checking on me, to see the progress. I think he'll want to print it out once finished O.o

@Ceru I wish you could sleep, but if you can't at least you managed to do some cute colouring  I'd suggest as colour for the shirt a not very light blue? You can make it a bit darker on the fairy image so as not to divert the focus from her (yay artistic license!)

@Tesh what I love about digital art is the possibility of experimenting with as many colours as you want; I'd have to spend a fortune on watercolours just to get that palette! I like the earthy colours in contrast with the blue eyes, which are still hypnotic @.@

Edit: I forgot @Kaibe! I like the additional shading, she looks further "in" her hood.

@Tesh: Ooooh he's looking good! Nah now I know why you can actually talk to him about fangirling Cullen, he got nothing to fear

I really like how you put all those earthy tones & blue background but conserving the stunning blue eyes he got. Wow.

@Vor: Good idea! Thanks, I'll try it ;)

About watercolour & traditional art, how about mixing your own colour...? I have a friend who mixed all her colours for acrylic painting just from blue, yellow & red & white & black. It's not easy I guess & you'll always have problem of finding the same one later on but usually these 5 basics cost much less... Well, that's only an idea, I never do anything traditional so can't say if it's difficult or not.

Well, tried Vor's idea during lunch break. Blue tone basically doesn't work at all so voilà... Let's make it RGB joke: now it contains all Red, Green, Blue

I know that many people advised to keep the palette colour to minimal... I just can't stop myself... oups.

@ Ceru - I like the colours :) And the eye stays focused on the fairy :) Good. As for my hubby's portrait, I'll have to improvise a bit, since in the reference photo he has such a deer-in-the-headlights look...

@ Vor - I do love the freedom that digital art offers. That being said, I still like to muck around with brushes and paint and get all messy :D As for the colours - you can try to mix them (if you use tempera), or lay down thin layers of varying colours (in water colour) to obtain a different tone.

Aaaand, not my hubby wants me to draw our cat (he has one blue eye, and one yellow), and do a self-portrait as well, so we can print all of them out and hang them up. Oy...

@Tesh thank you for the advice! Do you think it's better to mix watercolours by layering on the paper, or pre-mix them on a palette? I like mixing on paper better, that's what I love about watercolours, building up colours on the paper, but it's true that you have less control over the final result.

Btw, your hubby's idea for a project is great!

Edit to add: And your cat is a cutie! I'm afraid of painting whites, but I'm sure you will make a great portrait.

@Ceru well, I tried  :D I like how RGB turned out!

About mixing, well actually you're supposed to mix colours to get new ones! Thing is, I work with watercolour pans and not very good quality, so I try to either use the pure colours or mix them straight on the paper. For instance, the first version of the hair on my first Lavellan (the one sitting on the ground with a green nightgown), I achieved the colour by painting it yellow, letting it dry and adding a very washed orange then, less washed when moving on to the darker areas. I know it's risky mixing on the paper, but now I'm getting the feel of watercolours and learning to use them; I plan to buy quality watercolours in tubes quite soon so I can begin making my own mixed colours. The good thing about cheap Tiger pads is their colours are quite varied, here you can see all of them (sorry if that came out a bit long, I love these talks!)

@Tesh: Bwahahahahaha good luck with the family portraits, you're in for the big works there...

Maybe you might want to put them down when the big family come? Everyone might ask you to do their portrait...

You don't put him in front of you and do live painting? What's the use of a hubby who wants his portrait done without being a model himself?

What paint are you doing? Oil or acrylic or watercolour? My friend let me tried acrylic once with only 5 basic colours, painting on decorations for her new home. Oh the mess... But that was fun, and we got some colour stuck on our nose...

@Vor: Don't worry about length... You guys don't even know the length of messages Sephi & I had been exchanging about drawings lately...

Just say what you want B)

I don't know that kind of watercolour (or any watercolour...), is it like solid paste? IIRC you have to put water to "dilute" it before using no? Maybe mixing from there...? There aren't any cheap watercolour in tubes?

cat

Meow...! (Sorry, I just have to do this). Meow...

Nah, finished the colouring more or less of all panels... Now working on the text effect & last touches. The first panel was really fun with light & shadow. Somehow it makes me laugh so much because all my references in google comes from Film Noir & it keeps remind me of eternalshiva's Dragon Age Noir fic... (NSFW + Very NSFW accompanying piece, seriously).
