Ceru, those cards are amazing and you have my respect for trying to raise awareness for this issue. I've had to put up with mild bullying, I can't imagine how it must be to suffer it on a high level.

Perhaps message for the victims could be along the lines of "Reach out, you are not alone" and for those who witness "Don't be silent, your words are very important to someone"

Nah I've put it into Tumblr already actually since yesterday. Someone told me to put off the anon ask since I'll surely get some because of that otherwise. Since last week there are too many people I follow who got that kind of message, attacking his/her writing/artwork and attacking the person him/herself. Some can just laugh it off but for others that can mean getting the last straw broken.

Thanks for the suggestions ;)

We need fuzzball!!!

Ceru, you are very sweet. Your fish would work very well :) But, I mostly lack time... Hopefully, I'll be able to get something done this weekend :)

As I can only work on Ghilan'nai during the day, I started another drawing that it's been in my head for some days. I always draw isolated female figures, so this time I'm trying a female and a male figure together with some environment.

It's still in a very early stage, but I wanted your awesome help to tell if there's anything off; for now, my main struggle is with the male breast form, being used to drawing female breasts.

@ Vor - You need some good references :)

Here is a lady in sitting position by one of my favourite stock artists, mizzd-stock. Go through her images to find the pose you like best :)

And here is a stock image of a male standing almost in profile. He has no shirt on, so it can give you a really good idea of how the muscles are structured. The image is by another really good stock artist, mjranum-stock.

Hope this helps :)

@vor: what's the guy sitting on??? Is it a kind of giant puff??

I think that personally the girl's breast is not very pronounced, and her feet is a bit thick (except if she's wearing any shoes?

week end sketch dump...

I'm not sure about his necks& shoulder & head tilt. I used fontofnothing's Shot and he got that armour on but I still like to draw the outline of his neck and shoulder before...

@Ceru Actually the guy is the one standing and the girl the one sitting :D She's wearing a big skirt, that's why she has that puff effect. I'll try again later, see if I can get proportions and shapes right and make everything look like it's supposed to.

It's amazing how much you're progressing! The tilt seems right to me, only the neck position a bit to the left.

@ Ceru - The construction is excellent! Ceru, you do not cease to impress me with your progress. Keep at it :) At this rate, you'll be joining the artists painting along the Seine, and will gather a crowd of admirers in no time :)

I made just a few very minor adjustments to Cullen's portrait - nudged the mouth, nose and neck a little bit. You can get an idea of how to stay consistent with your central axis at this angle :) And, don't forget to keep your initial lines very light, to make edits easier :)

I sketched this a while back, with the intention of colouring it in watercolours. Not sure when I will get around to doing it, or whether I will end up colouring it digitally, but here ya go :)

@Tesh Those kind of ethnic drawings look awesome in colour; I'm sure you'll make a beautiful painting out of that sketch. If you finally use watercolours, I'd love to hear about your painting process!

So here we go again! I started from scratch using Tesh references (thank you! <3 ) and I'm much happier with the result ^_^  There is a "flow" of magic between the two characters that I didn't draw yet, in case you're wondering why they have those strange poses

@ Vor - The characters look more natural now :) Flow of magic, huh? Does this mean it'll be in colour? Great :D

@Tesh I'll do a greyscale version first with pencils only, and then fine point black marker (this one) with colour pencils. I really like the method of greyscale sketch first, colour second, it's very helpful to get shapes and shades right (well, to the best of my abilities :D) before colouring. As I learned with the Lavellan on green nightdress drawing, it's better to figure out all those things before laying the colours

Last night I advanced the sketch a bit more. I think I just created the cyber-steampunk style  :P

@Vor:Oooh that's looking good! Whoops I didn't know the long haired one is the guy, oups...

@Tesh: Wow, that's a very interesting character you got there! What's the costume she is wearing?

& what did you change on Cullen exactly...?

Well, another 2 sketches from sunday... I think that I'm going to render them differently from Del, I want to try colour them but with cartoony style or probably 3D rendering but with opaque, bold brush

@ Vor - Steampunk! I love the style, though I am very bad at it. I am getting a little bit of a Borderlands vibe :) Can't wait to see more.

@ Ceru - The lips were not properly aligned with the central axis of the face, so I nudged them a little to the right. I moved one nostril a little as well, and made his neck thicker :)

Sebastian looks amazing! You really caught his features! And I can easily recognize's Ti's character as well :) Awesome work, Ceru. Keep it up!

As for the girl, the symbols on her jewelry are Mayan :)

@Ceru You're really getting the hang of portraits!

@Tesh I love steampunk as well; I find it very difficult to properly capture it, so many different textures (metal, heavy fabrics, glass) But I like it so much that I don't mind trying. You're right about the Borderlands vibe; I haven't played much as I'm not a fan of shooters, but I've watched my bf play and like the apocalyptic cyberpunk aesthetic.

Here's today's progress on Ghilan'nain; I had the afternoon free so I could profit of a few hours of daylight. Sorry for quality, I had to clip the paper to a cardboard so I can't scan it. Even if colours are not coming out the way I have in mind, I'm pretty happy with how it's going.

@ Vor - I like the colour palette you have chosen for Ghilan'nain :) Make sure to keep your focal point crisp and bright - it has to be in high contrast to the rest of the image to draw the eye.

Progress on Timebean's drawing. At this point, everything is still very much in flux. The colours will become gradually darker, and the contrast will be higher. For now, though, I think I am on the right track. Just have to push the banners to the background, by making them a little darker and desaturated.

Edit: I think some of you were interested in layers and such, and I thought I might talk a little about it here. This is going to be a complex painting, with detailed elements on all levels (fore-, mid-, and background). Consequently, I will be using several layers to keep things organized. For this particular snapshot, I have a layer for the backround, where the basic colours are blocked in, one for the wall and floor, one for the banners, one for the sketch, and one for the figures. More will be added as necessary.

@Tesh: WOw that looks good already!

So you're not using one layer for red hair, another layer for blonde hair etc? The whole character is one layer?

Ok I finished up Cullen's sketch... Start rendering tomorrow

@ Ceru - Cullen looks very manly :) I love manly men :P

As for layers: no separate layers for the different parts of the characters. Both of them are on a single layer. I might add some details, or lighting, separately, but I generally like to keep layers to a minimum :) Makes it easier to use the Liquify tool - my secret weapon :P

*I'm considering quitting men altogether and get a cat instead. Or a man who does not get allergy to cat. Do you think that Cullen's allergy to cats? Cats are superior to men because cats are cats. Yes this argument is flawed but Cats win. Fatality*

Hmmm that's interesting, I got around 50 layers with Del alone... everything's separated but maybe that's not a good idea :)
