@Tesh-- It looks great! I love the little smirk thing Cullen's got going on.

I haven't been active since graduation practice turned out to be much busier than i thought but I'm free now and can post more!  :D

The theme is: "You're objectifying me again? Really?!"

Believe it or not, it took me one hour and a half just to shade that half of the skirt

Wow! You are all doing so well! Keep up the great work!

I've been so busy and probably will be for some time, but I hope I will find some time soon to paint, I miss it.

@Tesh I'm glad you decided on Cullen, he looks great!!!

@Vor That skirt shading though, it looks soo great! Good job.

Vor, I agree with Shantia - it may have taken you longer than you expected, but the shading is excellent! You really are improving quite a bit. Keep it up!

Thank you Shantia! So good to see you around :-) Looking forward to seeing more of your paintings; until then, lots of strength for the busy times!

@Tesh Thanks to you, too :-) I feel so motivated and I really like how it looks, so the effort is worth while.

@ Vor: Your drawing looks good so far! Can't wait to see the finished piece.  :)

I drew my current Inquisitor, Haruka Trevelyan:

It's just a part of the whole picture, although I think the rest of it is not as nice.

@ pro - She looks lovely. I like the cartoony style :) So, when are we going to see the rest of it? I am sure it is better than you think.

Progress on my hubby's portrait. Sooooo sloooow... And he thinks I have made him too cute. He thinks I drew him with too much of a baby face. The thing is, I have yet to add the stubble. That should de-adorable-fy him :P

@ tesh: thanks so much! i would post the whole picture but the thing is, it was anatomy practice (which could have gone better but oh well) but it's a nude portrait, and i'm not sure if that's allowed here.

Your portrait is looking great so far tho! I hope to be able to see the finished piece.  :D

Just one thing, if it's NSFW please say it clearly & put a spoiler tag.

So, just warn people, put a spoiler tag and it's good :)

@pro I want to see the whole picture as well! Love the cartoony style and the colours

@Tesh I love clean shaven faces, so your hubby looks perfectly nice to me ;-) Buuuut men love their facial hair :D

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone :)

Haha, yes, men love their beards... And if they are a little bit of a tough guy, even more so. You cannot have a clean-shaven badass - at least not in my hubby's opinion. I think I need to show him some pictures of Clint Eastwood in his hayday :P

I'll have to cycle to a different drawing to keep from screwing things up. I added some colour, and tried to deepen the shadows. Key word is "tried"... I am abysmal at shadows in colour paintings...

I like the colouring and lighting on the forehead area, perhaps it looks a bit stranger on the cheeks. I think shading is the hardest part of colour paintings, but our mighty Tesh can do it!!

I think you are doing a nice job. :wizard:

When you add more colours and shadows as you are doing now do you work on different layers?

OMG I've been away for a few days & so many awesome artworks here!!! Bravo everyone... :D

@Vor: THAT FLEMETH IS AWESOMEEEEEEE!!! Wow, that one's really really really really really really (have I say really?) awesome! Whew...

@Tesh: Yessss... bed-eyes Cullen... :devil:

It should've been funnier if at the end of the game CUllen was actually waiting the quizzy in her room with that position on the sofa...

@ Pro: GIMME THAT GIRRRLLL!!! I'm usually into men but that one's on my kiss list

How do you manage to make asian face on the CC? I tried a few time & didn't manage anything that doesn't look like too weird :(

@Shantia: Yay Shantia is back! welcome back ;)

Bravo everyone :)

On my side I'm not at home & not getting my drawing tablet with me. So now I just do doodles with markers on a moleskine-type sketchbook since I can't work with anything that's making lots of mess either. So Marker's perfect since it's very portable & easy to use & quick drying & can be done in very small place. It's even less messy than charcoal pencil. It's really amazing to work with traditional media, there are so many physical limitations but it's really charming because of it...

Thank you :) I like to work on a a single layer, if I can. Usually what I would do, I would add a new layer from time to time, and then when I am happy with the result, I merge it down. Then I start with a new layer again, merge it down later. This particular portrait has four layers, I think: background, temporary work layer, desaturate layer which I turn on and off to check values, watermark layer. I had the palette as well, but I wasn't happy with my initial colour choice. Now I am using swatches that I got from DevArt.

Yes, it would be nice to see him waiting for the Quizzy like this in the game... Head canon works as well, though :P

Ceru thank you so much, you're gonna make me blush ^^ I love your doodles with markers, are you using different colours?

Thanks :D

Yup, there are three different markers on that drawing above. One for the window frame (mid-tone cold grey, single pass), one for the sky (darkest cold grey, 3 passes to pigment saturation), and warm grey for the girl. I'm using India Ink marker, it's water based and unlike alcohol based markers (Copic) it can't be mixed to make shading at all. So no shading. Well actually it's possible to shade by putting second layer on & rubbing with fingers, but it's risky and can destroy the paper.

Wow, the detail of the armour looks really good! I can't see the face however, probably because of the light ;)

What game is this character from?

It is Garrett (no, not Hawke ^^) from Thief.
Here's the trailer :

A weird world... a kind of dystopia with Victorian and steampunk aesthetics.

From what I can see on my tablet, it's looking good, proportionate and with good detail. Moar! ^^

I always had curiosity for "Thief", but my bf who is the games expert said I wouldn't like it. Seems I'll have to at least check its aesthetic :)
