@ Vor - That is hilarious!!!! Blackwall has some sexy legs ![]()
@ Shantia - I use pressure sensitivity mostly to vary the opacity. Whenever I sketch, or want to add a sharp edge, I turn on the diameter variation as well.
Edit: I set opacity to ~80% for rough blocking, and reduce it to 20-25% for blending. While blending, I do a LOT of colour picking from the canvas.
Glad you got it to work
Sooooo... are we gonna see more of your Egyptian Queen? ![]()

@Ceru, Pro & Tesh Thank you for your response!
@Tesh Seb looks awesome. And yes I am hoping to finally finish the egyptian princess, gonna go watch deviant art hair tutorials now hehe, with the pressure sensitivity it is definatley I different feeling when painting.

Thank you all, I'm glad you had fun
Tesh, just wait until I had the hair to his legs
Your Seb is waaaaay hotter than in game (see Bioware? THAT'S how you do it!)
@Shantia yay! I'm also part of the Stubborn Team
Looking forward to seeing progress on your Egyptian Princess.

I think we all make good additions to Team Stubborn - otherwise we wouldn't be drawing and improving
Thank you everyone for the kind words. Glad you like Seb so far. Not sure if he is better looking than in game, but I am trying for a more realistic look (the game is cartoony) ![]()

It's interesting actually to see how each different person interpret a character. Your Seb painting is as different as other artists in the fandom, yet it's the same subject. ![]()
Day 3/30 sketch a head challenge... Super fail. I don't think this worth uploading elsewhere. & not going to render this either, it's just a fail. He looks like a wimp here & I need to find a way how to draw hair without it looking stringy... probably going to redraw this in a few days.

Fails are part of learning!
#684

Well... It's practice!
Some of the features (nose, ear) are too large compared to the rest of the face. But, hey, practice makes perfect, no? ![]()
Edit: Concerning variation son the same subject - it is because of the cartoony look that DA 2 characters have. It gives room for a lot of interpretation, as long as certain distinctive features are maintained (i.e. hair style & colour, eye colour, nose, armour for Seb). In Cullen's case, there is not that much room to maneuver if you want to keep it realistic - since the in-game model is already quite realistic. In his case, you go the other way around - variations would stem from stylizing his appearance ![]()

Surrealist Blackwall? Bring it on ![]()
Ayy, any suggestion on how to make him looks less wimpy? It's true that the screenshot reference I got was this (repost from tumblr, can't find the original link). He looks sad there but not wimpy ![]()

Give him a frown. That should do the trick ![]()

Hereby I introduce you to the Rainbow Kilt and beaten-up Blackwall!
The train of thought went something like this:
"*is finishing the shirt*
- Hmmm now let's put a little bit of red here... Aha, insta-volume! Just as Tesh said ^^

I still find it very good ![]()
Anyway Blackwall's an outdoor guy & he's not as pale as Cullen (this needs to be said, the level of paleness Cullen had acquired from DA2 to DA:I is scary... It's like he's so sick or something like that) so that colouring still OK IMO.
Say, is it watercolour pencil you're using? If yes probably try erase them with an eraser? I know that my watercolour pencils got lighter when waterbrushed...

You're also too kind

Vor, it's still hilarious
And it's a learning process, so no worries. You might have peaked at a photo of Marilyn Monroe as a reference for the skirt. Either way, I am thoroughly entertained by this image ![]()

Sometimes the pose remind me of a certain ballet movement... that skirt kilt... XD
#692
Posté 08 avril 2015 - 05:41
@Tesh I relied heavily on a Marilyn pic for the pose, specially the legs; I guess that's why they are so sexy
I wanted the kilt to have a more exaggerated, cartoony aspect, so I didn't use the reference for that. I screwed it up anyway, but that's part of learning; I'm so sure I'll never forget to check the colour wheel before colouring ![]()
Thank you for your support!! ![]()

Bwahahahahahahahahaha in any case that one's super brilliant! I thought of having seen this pose before, didn't think of Marilyn Monroe XD

I really can't blame you for not associating Marilyn Monroe to Blackwall ![]()

I also didn't think of her when I saw your drawing! And it's one of her most iconic pictures too ![]()

Just before falling asleep, I like to make up outfits for my Quizzy. I'm using them for sketches (yes, I need to practice foreshortening)

Thank youuuuu!! You're all so nice ![]()
Funny thing is, I love imagining and drawing clothes, and looking at nice outfits, but I'm the laziest when it comes to my own clothing and I always wear the same jeans and jumper ![]()
