For pressure sensitivity, if I'm shading I only use it for opacity jitter, with the brush set to 100% opacity. If I'm doing lineart I only use it for size jitter and keep the brush at 100% opacity so the transparency of the line is uniform.

@ Vor - That is hilarious!!!! Blackwall has some sexy legs :D

@ Shantia - I use pressure sensitivity mostly to vary the opacity. Whenever I sketch, or want to add a sharp edge, I turn on the diameter variation as well.

Edit: I set opacity to ~80% for rough blocking, and reduce it to 20-25% for blending. While blending, I do a LOT of colour picking from the canvas.

Glad you got it to work :D Sooooo... are we gonna see more of your Egyptian Queen? :)

Update on Seb:

Thank you all, I'm glad you had fun :D Tesh, just wait until I had the hair to his legs  :D Your Seb is waaaaay hotter than in game (see Bioware? THAT'S how you do it!)

@Shantia yay! I'm also part of the Stubborn Team  B) Looking forward to seeing progress on your Egyptian Princess.

I think we all make good additions to Team Stubborn - otherwise we wouldn't be drawing and improving :)

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Glad you like Seb so far. Not sure if he is better looking than in game, but I am trying for a more realistic look (the game is cartoony) :)

It's interesting actually to see how each different person interpret a character. Your Seb painting is as different as other artists in the fandom, yet it's the same subject. :D

Day 3/30 sketch a head challenge... Super fail. I don't think this worth uploading elsewhere. & not going to render this either, it's just a fail. He looks like a wimp here & I need to find a way how to draw hair without it looking stringy... probably going to redraw this in a few days.

Don't worry Ceru, I screwed up Blackwall's skirt... badly :D That'll teach me to check the colour wheel BEFORE starting to colour!! I'll show you tomorrow, it's hilarious, it's supposed to have a cartoony look but it looks like a surrealist painting :D

Fails are part of learning!

Well... It's practice! :D Some of the features (nose, ear) are too large compared to the rest of the face. But, hey, practice makes perfect, no? :)

Edit: Concerning variation son the same subject - it is because of the cartoony look that DA 2 characters have. It gives room for a lot of interpretation, as long as certain distinctive features are maintained (i.e. hair style & colour, eye colour, nose, armour for Seb). In Cullen's case, there is not that much room to maneuver if you want to keep it realistic - since the in-game model is already quite realistic. In his case, you go the other way around - variations would stem from stylizing his appearance :)

Surrealist Blackwall? Bring it on B)

Ayy, any suggestion on how to make him looks less wimpy? It's true that the screenshot reference I got was this (repost from tumblr, can't find the original link). He looks sad there but not wimpy

Hereby I introduce you to the Rainbow Kilt and beaten-up Blackwall!

Spoiler

The train of thought went something like this:

"*is finishing the shirt*

- Hmmm now let's put a little bit of red here... Aha, insta-volume! Just as Tesh said ^^

- Now, on to the skirt... layer by layer, as I read...
- Ah yes, I'm the Queen of Clothes Shading!
*looks at flaming orange and yellow skirt*
- Nope. It's supposed to be mostly in shadow, and the light is blue... blue it is!
*skirt looks GREEN*
- Sh*t! Of course you fool, yellow + blue equals green!
- I'm sure some VERY DARK BLUE will fix it.
*looks at messy colour mess*
- Maybe not... how about I check that tutorial about colour shades?
*checks tutorial*
- Sh*t! Yellow shades are purple!
*facepalms*
*purplifies skirt*
*looks at messier colour mess*
- Well, at least I can make proper shading for the face! Colour base is yellow after all...
*makes Blackwall look just beaten up*
- Ok, I'll go to bed now."

I still find it very good ;)

Anyway Blackwall's an outdoor guy & he's not as pale as Cullen (this needs to be said, the level of paleness Cullen had acquired from DA2 to DA:I is scary... It's like he's so sick or something like that) so that colouring still OK IMO.

Say, is it watercolour pencil you're using? If yes probably try erase them with an eraser? I know that my watercolour pencils got lighter when waterbrushed...

You're totally right Ceru, poor Cullen needs some fresh air in DA:I; that's why he always talks to Quizzy outside his office, poor guy needs some sunlight :D

You're also too kind :P I'm using normal colour pencils, which I can never get to look uniform btw, don't know if it's because they're too soft or too hard; they're supposed to be good quality, brand is Van Gogh. I managed to get some of the purple off the face with the kneaded eraser, the beating looked way worse before xD

Vor, it's still hilarious :) And it's a learning process, so no worries. You might have peaked at a photo of Marilyn Monroe as a reference for the skirt. Either way, I am thoroughly entertained by this image :D

Sometimes the pose remind me of a certain ballet movement... that skirt kilt... XD

@Tesh I relied heavily on a Marilyn pic for the pose, specially the legs; I guess that's why they are so sexy :D I wanted the kilt to have a more exaggerated, cartoony aspect, so I didn't use the reference for that. I screwed it up anyway, but that's part of learning; I'm so sure I'll never forget to check the colour wheel before colouring  :D

Thank you for your support!!  <3

Just before falling asleep, I like to make up outfits for my Quizzy. I'm using them for sketches (yes, I need to practice foreshortening)

Thank youuuuu!! You're all so nice  <3

Funny thing is, I love imagining and drawing clothes, and looking at nice outfits, but I'm the laziest when it comes to my own clothing and I always wear the same jeans and jumper
