“We learn from failure, not from success!” - don't remember where I have read this...although I'm making as many mistakes, I can see them and fix them better...well... see them at least
Got some time to make the features, because it is what I have more trouble with... I was trying to make his hair more curly in the last one... not sure if it works.

@ Al - your patience amazes me O_o Beautifully done ![]()
Getting closer to finishing Izzy. All that is left are the details - which often take bloody long, but I hope to have this drawing done next week ![]()

On that note...
... welcome to my perspective hell!
One face goin' this way, one goin' that-a-way...
So any advice on this wip would be appreciated

And cullen looks off to me but I didn't do the circle/line technique because I had noooo idea how to with these angles!

Ayyy great work everyone!
@al: That's the best advice I've heard!
And you're very patient. Bravo ![]()
@Tesh: Really love how you put her feet blended to background, yet upper part of the body & head are separated.
@Qween: Probably use very soft shading...? With very soft gradation? Beard is a mass of thing, so you see the edge much more clearly than shadows under the chin.
Did you see fontofnothing's reference? She got one with Cullen & quizzy at that position. I did an exercise and trace the construction lines of the head on the image to see how the foreshortening's done. And you're forgetting Cullen's lower part of the jaw, it should be more space below the ears before the line start turning
Here's Cullen... He got hairs now. But there's still too many mistake. The rythym of the hair is all wrong, it's supposed to be more wavy. Then I put too much detail on the highlight & not enough on the halftones. Normally IIRC it's in the darker halftones you see the most of textures. I can always add details to halftones but can't erase the one in highlight anymore since it's fixed... AAAARGHHHHHHHH

Great start to Cullen! I covered up the left side (our left side) of his face and the right side is dead on! Maybe it's the eye spacing and his nose is going a bit wider on that side too, if we follow the "corner of the eye" rule, but I'm not sure what your source shows.
Oh and your shading is fantastic!!

I could not find the reference so I got something like it... look for the blue points to draw the center line of the face, and the one that separate the front and side of the head. The blue lines help you understand how the head is tilted, then you draw the red lines following the tilt, like it was a box in perspective.
@Ceru, since this is almost a front view, not a 3/4 profile, I think there are too much space between his eye and ear.

Ceru, the shading is so very soft. Great job! My only comment would be to use some B pencils as well for deeper shadows. That way you will have a full set of values. Right now, you don't really go from full white to full black.

Hehe I ended up using 2B, 4B and 6B XD. Well the scanner took the contrast a bit weirdly but in the real drawing it's finally ranging from HB (light shading, highlight) to 4B for his face, up to 6B for the fur coat + Conté fusain.

The model I used for the sword was very nice, but it was quite detailed, so it took a lot of time to paint. Classy sword, for a classy Captain
I am telling you, though, the details are going to kill me ![]()

Well, glad I fooled you
Tedious work, but it adds a nice touch to the final image.

whoa! nice work with the detail Tesh! ![]()
here's a bit more of Cass :3

Did some shading and cleaned up some lines on her face. Also lightened up on the eyeshadow (might add some under her eye later, see what it looks like)
Fiddling around with colours for the outfit. I might just use colours from her actual inquisition outfit, yellow's a bit flashy for her ![]()
I'll also probably incorporate more straps/belts and stuff, from her original outfit as well :3

So I did more.
Should I keep the seeker emblem design on the outfit?
(I drew it quick, so it's not very clean at the moment. I'll fix it if I keep it)
oooh, and the colours? good choice?

ahh, so much to do still. AH and her tattoo, can't forget that.

Ohoho, Cass look badass there ![]()
It'll be Tesh's choice about that Inquisition emblem, but still I vote for keeping it, that's really Cass' *trademark* style XD

@ ACD - Cass looks so badass
I'm loving it so far. The colour scheme is good. Might be an interesting touch to have at least part of her hair dyed differently. And, yes, the Seeker emblem is a must
Not necessarily on her clothes - it could be a tattoo, but it has to be there somewhere ![]()
Great job so far! Can't wait to see more ![]()

I love Cass and Izzy and everybody's work
I vote for keeping the emblem too.

This will be basically it for Izzy's portrait. Now on to her outfit, some more details on the jewelry, belts, and it should be done ![]()

Whoa Tesh! That detail!
![]()
So today I got distracted, by everything else other than what I'm supposed to be working on.
I did manage to get her tattoo so yay (still so much to do -.-)

Bonus:
here's another thing I started just now, but probably won't finish

@Tesh the filigree on the jewelry! Just wow! ![]()
@AC Badass Cass tattoo is badass
Why won't you finish the qunari one? I think it's looking good and the world needs moar qunari art.
Btw, I don't think I'll be finishing the Marilyn Blackwall drawing, I just screwed up too much with the colouring and every time I look at it I don't feel like going on
Maybe I'll try transfering it to a new paper and starting the colour from scratch.

Look, my steampunk couple has a baby!
I used the Loomis method for the face and it works out nicely for angles, but I find it difficult to get the mouth and jaw area right. Beause I'm Ms. Clean Lines, I decided to challenge myself a bit and get "dirty" using charcoal (well, I actually used this Faber Castell graphite crayon) For now I just traced the base lines I had made with B pencil, but I will go on with the rest of lines and shading just with the graphite crayon. I hope to give my hand a bit of freedom and looseness.
I used this photo as reference:

it's looking good Vorathrad
You got her face in a good position! As for the mouth and jaw, I'm not sure how to break it down.
If I come across any photos with a face in that position I'll let you know.
I'm alternating between colouring Cass and this qunari.
I'm almost done the qunari xD I might finish by tonight

I didn't use a reference for the picture (well I did, but I used references for highlights/shadows and qunari horns and such...)
