@Pro Thank you!  <3

@Ceru I guess the shoulder piece stays in place... magically?  :D IRL I guess you could achieve a similar look with wire, cardboard and padding (I know a bit about sewing, but not so much) Maybe also making it with plastic; that was my initial idea, a kind of plastic or metal piece attached to the shoulder strap.

I already started with the black ink and quite like how it's turning out. I don't know whether to try and give the gloves some texture or just paint them black, I'll decide tomorrow.

Nah I don't think you need magic to do that XD. Probably some thicker stiff fabrics, with certain way of stitching it altogether ^^.

Wow the texture looks good :D

I find you already have a certain style actually

Aawww you think so? That's nice!

I am almost afraid to begin with the skirt; think I'll make a couple tests first, I'm known to have made black ink screwups  :D

Finished the upper part and started with the skirt, after a couple tests to figure out how to shade the fabric. I've used this kind of "false woodblock printing" before (but those drawings are not posted anywhere), but not so much to try and represent the fabric creases. I will add a pattern once the whole skirt is shaded.

You should make sewing patterns .. I'll be the first to try one of your robe :) (and I love corsets ^^)

Real drawing, I mean, with pen and paper is somhow easier than digital drawing. I struggle whith colour and shading and .. well, it's not that digital drawing is harder, no ... colouring is harder for me ^^

Thank you so much Mor, I'd love to make sewing patterns! I'm a beginner at sewing too, but one day I hope I can make patterns for and sew my own dresses. I'll send you one if this group is still standing by then! :D I love corsets too :-) Well the looks of them, they look uncomfortable. I once knew a girl who made corsets as a hobby, they looked so pretty!

I see you started using your brand new tablet :-) I haven't tried digital colouring, I guess it's so different from pencils or paint that it takes some time getting used to. Actually I like his hair! With all those colours you can see on blonde hair in really sunny days. Maybe if you use darker hues towards the back of the head it will look less "firey"?

Vor, if you can, try and wear a corset for an hour (or more if you feel confortable) .. the sensation is weird at first, but it helps when you sit, or drive or many thing (I wear one of mine when my back hurts). And if you really like to sew and want a pattern for a huuu "jupe corsetée" (corset and skirt) I have one  ;)

And for the hair, you were right, darker is better :D

I spent most of today with the tartan (I've done a lot of research, you know, science, nice men in kilt and all, and I found a "clan Rutherford" and its tartan :P)

The hair looks definitely better now! And I like the tartan pattern, is it the one for clan Rutherford? I wouldn't mind doing that kind of research  :P

I'd love a pattern for that, I'm a beginner in sewing though! I better send you a PM so the thread can stay on-topic  :)

Wow, things have certainly got quiet around here... I have nothing to show right now, I have been drawing coils following this video on foreshortening I found:

I'm still here :D (and still trying to make a convenable kilt ... and all the rest too :P)
When you see that, it seems so easy, and I know it's not that easy ... I'm gonna try tho .. I always wanted to draw Jörmungandr (a giant serpent in norse mythology)and when I tried, it was "flat" so ... I gonna try this :)

I know it is full of biiiig mistake, but I'm still trying :)

Wowowow I love the concept, thought it was 3/4 view but this is soooo much better!

I really like how you did the tartan, specially on the front part, and how it changes with the fabric folds. Did you use some Photoshop magic to make the fabric folds with the tartan pattern, or did you do it manually?

No photoshop magic here (I'd love to have such magic ^^), I just took tons of screenshots of Rob Roy (wonderfull movie, wonderfull love story and wonderfull landscapes) and I tried to make folds in the tartan according to those screenshots... And now that you mention it, I hate folds ^^ It was indeed presoumptuous to draw this kind of thing, I should have drawn a face, it is much easier :P

Wow, congrats then! You did an awesome job with those folds! I don't think it's presumptuous, you're pulling it off very well; maybe it'll take a little longer but the results are looking very good (btw I love folds, but that's just me and my weird obssession about clothes  :D )

The other day I spent the afternoon binge viewing drawing tutorials on YouTube, and I came across this video on practice by Jazza. One of the three kinds of practice he talks about involves doing quick sketches, worrying not so much about quality as quantity. I'm very bad in that department, so I decided to spend a few minutes doing sketches every day, this is what I made today:

I know, the hand holding the book in the sitting position is turned around. Worst part is, I had to look in the mirror to figure it out, I knew there was something odd about that arm but couldn't tell what

Colours can't be seen very well on the pic (sorry for quality) but I started the watercolour for that landscape sketch I posted a while ago. While painting it, I realized I need a bigger brush  So I will go on tomorrow when I get it.

OooOOooooo I love watercolours :) I suck at using them, so I have to pay very close attention when I work with them, but the effects always come out looking so great. I am sure your landscape will look beautiful :D

Yeah watercolours always look so lovely! They are a hard medium and I know it's still a long way till I can make anything remotely like some gorgeous paintings I see out there. But I'm definitely enjoying the ride; I just put the brush onto the paper and see the gorgeous colours and go all OoooOoOOoohhh :D

Btw I have a new job too, to celebrate I treated myself to (finally!) watercolour tubes. Let's see how it goes :-)

WIP of my buddy, Tomi :) Meant as a b-day present for my mom (she doesn't check my tumblr, so I think I should be fine posting the WIP there):

Same here! I really love Solas romance for story and drama, but in terms of a mature, sweet relationship Kaidan and Cullen are definite my favourites.

Aaawww your buddy is sooo cute!  I really like the background colour you chose, it's very relaxing and goes very well with Tomi's colours. It will make a lovely birthday present!

I used my watercolour tubes for the first time today, I LOVE THEM!  <3 So much better than dry pads, and mixing is so much fun! Really looking forward to use them in lots of paintings. I have the background colours on the landscape, next time I'll start adding a few smaller plashes of colours for grass. The yellow part is a bit messy because that's what I did first  :D

Thanks, Vor :) Glad you like Tomi so far :)

Oh, Solas... I love him as a character. Never romanced him, though. Cullen always distracts me :P

Happy to hear you are having fun with your new water colour set. The colours look so vibrant :) Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Stage 3 of the watercolour landscape, I think in the next I will add some details and that will be the last one. I like that the colours are so vibrant, but at the same time I think they are a bit too saturated. I will try to tone them down a bit in future paintings  :D

Spoiler

Tesh, Solas romance is very intense but sadly the content is very sparse, so I'm hesitant to recommend it. But if at any time you are bored and willing to start a new playthrough to make different choices, by all means try the egg romance  ;)

Did you saw the trailer for the new DLC? I'm sooooo hyped!

The watercolour looks really good, Vor. I can see that you have used atmospheric perspective to your advantage already, by making the colours in the foreground darker than the ones in the background. However, there are a few additional elements that add depth to a landscape painting: with increasing distance, objects become lighter (you already did this), of lower contrast and bluer. Just a small tip to keep in mind for next time. For now, I love how vibrant the colours look :)
