Once again the same Cullen drawing. Greyscale flat, currently trying to work on the simple greyscale as Sephirona suggested... need to figure out how to shade metals.

Soooo, thanks to the great tutorials posted here, I manage to drew something from scratch (no model, no screenshots, nothing ... not even Dragon Age related) it is not the perfect thing ever, I know that, I will not reach the dexterity some have here, but I'm a bit proud (c'mon, only a month ago, my drawing were just straw peoples ^^)
 



Since I have no scanner, I used my phone, so, poor quality.

I have to admit that I always wanted to draw, but I never had the courage to begin... plus, I had no one to ever  criticize me ... I mean, even my straw people, boyfriend said "ooo, that's nice" (c'mon guy, I know it is not nice ... you need something from me right ??? ^^)

At least, here, people give you advices, tell you "add this" "make more like that ...." and , maybe I look like I do not listen, but I really do (I'm just not talkative ... and my english (spoken/written) is bad :/)

Same here, I wanted to draw but never got the chance before so... why not start now? I mean we'll all have to pass by the first step "I draw a stick figure...". The thing is personally I don't know how to give good critics since I'm a newbie myself so for that how to improve stuffs you'll have to rely on others more experimented.

 

Glad you like it, and once again I'm not sorry to make you start bwahahaha.

A bit, but not really Even if I really like Skyrim, I pick the name before that (I could have gone with Hrafnhild .. and maybe I will for a raven hair quizzy, or Brynnhildr for a warrior, or Þóruðr for a mage quizzy who only use electricity spells etc ... But that is true, my dragonborn is called Hjördís too - except she's not a mage but a archer ... and she's not in love with Cullen but Farkas ^^)

@Shantia: looking good, the shoes' really good IMO. But her bone (shoulder?) that's just below the neck, ain't it rather round? Idk, mine's not that round from what I see, maybe it's different for each person?

@Ceru Thank you, the shoes are what I am working on right now, and they are a real pain hehe. I assume you mean teh collarbone? Yeah now that i look at it. it does look rather weird, thanks for pointing it out!

 

And OMG that is sooo cute!!! I have one suggestion, the hand holding the bow, should be on the other side of the bow?

 

How do you pick which character you do? If you ever run out I have one I'd like to see you do

about the bow, you're right!!! Something seems off & I didn't notice. Whoops... Thanks, I'll try to do something about it

 

About which character to do, it's rather by who asked first actually, except for Tishina's who got kicked at the last place since she asks the most difficult thing:

1. Dwarf

2. Dwarf

3. Dwarf

4. Dwarven Legion of the Dead full regalia.

5. Have I say dwarf?

 

Normally it'll be on this order: Arty's, R2s, Morlanwen's, Zarro's, Tishina's

 

EDIT: Actually I do lots of waiting lately, and it's hard to do realistic drawing there (no table). So I proposed to people in Cullen thread whether they want a Pocket Version of their character. Some jumped to the occasion.

 

I'll tell you if I still get time to add one more quizzy. It's a rather long list already.

I begged asked Ceru for a drawing of my quizzy ...  and since she asked me why I didn't draw her myself, here I am ... the thing is I can't do anything but faces ... I'll have to learn how to draw a body  ... and I have to draw better shaddings, and so many things are wrong and... and ... and... pffiouuuu

Oh wow! That's really good. You progress so much already

 

I can't comment on the shading since I can't see where the light is coming on? Also, that nose's top bridge position rather weird no? It's like the head's rather tilted at one side but the nose's tilted at the other side. Overall great tho, keep it up

 

EDIT: Freckles are fun to draw but Arty needs to buy sunscreen for his quizzy.

OK, I missed sooooo much, and I won't have a chance to catch up before Fri evening, but: keep up the good work everyone! As far as I can tell on my phone screen (hehe) things look great

Shantia, make sure to vary your colors a bit, especially for skin tones. And keep in mind that the skin wraps around muscles, so you want to emphasize the underlying musculature

Here is my current WIP, my poor heartbroken Lavellan. She's meant to be sitting in front of the window, with moon light coming in. As usual, I wasn't able to convey that   Colours are applied using a very thin watercolour layer first and then colour pencils. I'm quite happy with her hair colour, not so much the nightgown. I plan to colour the background mainly with watercolours, applying a thin black wash over everything save her figure to try and create a dramatic contrast.

@Vor: actually I thing that I don't get from your drawing: from what direction is the light coming from? I can't see it.

 

(My friend keep telling me the first thing I should do is to decide where's the light coming from, just after drawing the outline). Guess that if you want to do a more realistic drawings that may be an interesting point to consider.

@Ceru that is aboslutely lovely, sooo cute!!! I would be so happy if you ever get time to do mine. I understand that you already have a alot, and might want to work on other things.

 

@Vor her body and head proportions are a bit off I think, her upper body looks a bit bigger than the rest of her? (proportions are a pain to get right) And as Ceru mentioned before adding any colour decide where the light is coming from, it makes it easier to do shading. I can't wait to see how it turns out though!

@Shantia: I realy appreciate that you like these drawings of mine. Let's see this later on OK? I'm not saying no but now's not the good time. I've been taking twice Pocket Inquisitors to draw than I originally planned. I like doing this, its fun really. But there are currently some RL things going on my side that might make me need to drop this whole drawing things for a time altogether so I can't make anymore promises or commitment. I also got already a very long list of commitment & promises & drawing projects in line... But if one day I decide to re-do these Pocket Inquisitor drawings for others you'll be the first on the list.

 

I'm so sorry I can't promise you anything fix for now.
