thanks everyone :)

@Tesh: A question though, about darkness & shadow, would making the shadow darker creates a better illusion of depth? Well, this is something to test isn't it? ;)

@Vor: yeaaah you're right, I forget about that. Basically from what I understand, all textures (clothings, skin, hairs, everything) appear the best in the darker halftone area, are barely  visible in dark shadows or around highlights and are only slightly visible in the lighter halftones. You're completely right, I forget about that...

@Qween: Guess that the circle will never end... XD

So my niece's portrait is finished! It's not perfect, but I quite like the result taking into account the difficulty of the subject (smiling kid, original cellphone image with flash) Thanks again to you all for your help! The final result really improved by following your suggestions  <3

Nice work Vor. You already managed to make her hair to look wavy & flowy, that's something ;)

Thank you Ceru! I'm glad the hair looks about right, it was the part I feared most along with the teeth.

Well the great thing about the teeth is that you make them with different size & shape so it looks realistic. I can also see the "thickness" of it instead of just random checkerbox people often do ;)

@pro very nice sketches! One thing I love about this group is how many times I get to see our dear Commander Curly :D

@Morlanwen that is amazing! As I said on the WIP thread, you achieved a very organic look, no cartoony at all. You used very few lines and blocked shadows instead, I guess?

Vor: thank you :) I only use very thin lines to define forms (maybe I shouldn't? I don't know, like many here, I learn by myself so maybe it's the wrong way) and shadows for everything: from the eyes to the white hair :)

I'm no expert, but judging from the result, I think the way you do it is the best one with graphite :-) Unless you're going for a cartoony look.

Morlanwen, she looks great!! That blocking technique has worked so well! Her eyes absolutely shine which is no small feat!! I'm trying to understand the logistics of drawing white/light hair and you illustrate it really well here. Well done!

@ Mor - That portrait is lovely :) Amazing work with the soft shading.

@ Vor - Your niece looks adorable! What a difficult portrait to attempt. I hope she really liked her gift.

@ Pro - Emotional pieces. Like 'em both :)

@Mor: wow. Just wow. Serious progress there, and those lips & eyes are amazing :D

The eyes look very very alive.

@Pro: I really love the Cullen one, you manage to capture his likeness really well with minimum of lines. That's something. And Solas look very tender ;)

Bravo everyone XD

Loki! I love Tom Hiddleston :) He's such a handsome gentleman :)

That reminds me.. I should probably finish my portrait of him too. But... no time... :(

@Qween Nice one with Tom Hiddleston! You're improving with the eyes and also with rotating the head, keep up the good work!

At last, I'm back home and with enough time to draw, yay! Monday I'll be travelling for work, so I'm taking advantage of the weekend. I came back really inspired, longing to go back to my pencils and watercolours. This one is a quickie; I love tabletop roleplaying and soon we'll start a Mage: The Ascension campaign. I had this image of my Technocracy character and decided to draw her.

Qween, you can find my Loki WIP on my DevArt :)

Vor, she looks very hip. A bit androgynous :) Reminds me of the art style in Blade Runner :)

So here is the closeup. You pissed off? She's pissed off.

Very, very nice work Qween! There's no sign of the "collaboration"! The lips, nose and left eye are specially well done. For your next portrait, I'd recommend trying for deeper shadows on the rest of the face (cheeks, temple, forehead, etc.) But you've certainly improved!  :)

Thanks, guys :) yeah I was going to try to put her in more shadow but my current skill level just makes her look like she needs to wash her face :D I'll definitely practice!

Natalie is such a beautiful subject, and you've managed to capture her charm quite well :) The accident does not even seem to have happened :) Great work, Qween :) Keep it up!
