Gosh THERE ARE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL PIECES HERE!!! Ooooh <3

@Tesh: love them all especially Tomi. But what had you done with Cullen... (-_-")

@pro: Love the clean lines of Zander. Somehow the lines look really alive & his features harsh even if there's quite some soft angles :D

@Vor: wow! Abelas' hair looks really fluid... like that it's flowing (if you get what I mean...). And that look. The expression mastered really well. Although it's kinda funny to see the outline of the face, but it must not be really easy to go without it on paper though

@pro Nice drawing! It's nice to draw LIs that don't dump you in the middle of a wyvern nest  <_<

@Tesh Love your Kaidan! (well, and Kaidan in general  :D ) I like his badass expression and the contrast of greyscale with the splashes of blue. Really really love that combination, I hope to see more of it  :)

@Ceru So nice to see you back!  <3 The outline of the face is because of my ligne claire obssession; I grew up reading Tintin comics and loving their look, and I need to see a line somewhere or I freak out. Like There is something missing here! Lines! I need moar lines!

Well, this is not exactly the style I usually do, but it's what I'm up to currently. Some friends are holding a nutritional workshop for kids just before Halloween, and I am making some designs to use as decoration. This was made using watercolours and pencils.

Thank you, Tesh!  ^_^

Here's another one. My bf says I'm good at this kid style, but though it's a nice exercise and I enjoy the simplicity, it isn't really a style that makes me feel very motivated... (lots of respect for kids illustrators out there)

I also finally finished the sitting Lavellan colour test. Trying to get a semi-decent digital version of it was a real pain, neither scanners not cameras handle light watercolour glazing well.

For the final version, I think I will change the dress colour to light blue and will add a cushion behind Lavellan, as it feels a bit empty for a domestic scene.

I really like the colours, Vor :) Looks like you are having quite a bit of fun painting in water colours. Keep it up!

Thanks Tesh!  :) Yeah, I'm really enjoying the watercolours; I'm growing more confident, I'm fairly familiar with my pencils and how much water each of them holds, also getting the hang of mixing quite well... I used to test my colours on a scrap paper, but now I control quite well the amount of water and pigment so I can go straight from the palette to the final work. I know it's what we always say, but it's all a matter of practice! You don't know how true it is until you start to notice the difference work after work.

My only gripe is how difficult it's to get a decent digital version. The scanner doesn't deal well with the translucent layers and even with heavy Photoshop editing, so many details are lost. Time to find some watercolour scanning tutorials!

Artists generally go to professional photography studios to have their work digitized. If you have a good camera, you might be able to get better results than with a scanner :)

I didn't know that, Tesh! I thought they just had very good scanners  :D I do have a quite nice camera, I'm not familiar with shooting paintings but I think learning will be worth it. Thanks so much for the idea!  :)

Here is the last painting I did for this project, I call it "Frankenbanana"

Finished the drawing for the Dragon Age fanart/fanfic swap :D Aevalle Lavellan for DinosWrites. She wrote an absolutely hilarious piece on the Chargers and Cullen for me, which you can find here.

Tesh, that Lavellan look amazing!! Maybe I'd like the golden strokes to be bolder, but I can't complain of anything about that drawing: so elegant, I love the dress as well as the arm prosthetics to play. I headcanoned that my Lavellan plays the flute, so you gave me an idea for her to keep playing  ;)

I like your play with PS brushes, it'd make a lovely design for a Christmas card.

Thank you, Vor :) Glad you like the drawings :)

Yes, initially I wanted the gold colour to be really bold, but I did not want to distract from her features. Right now, the eye travels in a triangle, between the instrument body, her prosthetic and her face. If I had made the colour stronger, her features might have slipped in the background. Someone more skilled would've probably pulled it off, but I am pretty cautious in my approach to colours. Eh, I just need more practice :)

You're right, if you don't feel sure about something, it's better not to push yourself too much.

I'll be very happy to see lots of drawings from you, so I approve of practice!  ^_^ You're getting quite a lot of nuance in values in greyscale, no? Are you enjoying it or it's more for practice with values? (I guess it's a bit of both)

Oh, I've been doing value studies lately for practice, and also because a colour image would take quite a bit longer. My spare time is limited...

Heyhooo!!! Sorry again for missing so much of this thread... Not much time in front of computer lately and mostly only tumblring from phone T__T.

Vor, the Kiddo illustration is really cute :D

She looks so happy.

Tesh's Aevalle is... Well well, that dress rival the Empress of Orlais' herself :D

@ Lynas - Looks really good! I love dragons, but am not particularly good at drawing them. I think this one would look awesome in colour pencils. Maybe blue and white :) It just reminds me of Falcor from Neverending Story.
