So, tonight I was blessed with my first 23 lvl Unique - Thunderstrike.

Now Thunderstrike has a chance to cast Chain Lightning for 50% of the weapon's damage, and Moon Axe casts Horn of Valor, and I really like it.

My build for the Templar atm is Shield Wall / Horn of Valor / Spell Purge / Heaven's Wrath.

The DPS is roughly the same, of course in favor of Thunderstrike.

Which one would you use and why? Is there a build for which Moon Axe is better?

given that you already have horn of valor as an active skill, I would use Thunderstrike on your templar. I use the dwarven crusher on templar for the same reason. Moon Axe is my go-to for legionnaire however.

if you make a build on templar -without- horn of valor, moon axe would be my choice.

If your templar has the passive Flow of Battle, the Moon Axe is better (I think). It has a bonus 16% crit chance, which applies to both the physical damage and the rune. This will reduce the time on Wrath of Heaven+Spell Purge greatly, allowing for even more cheese. I run with the upgrade for blessed blades, though, so I have the two abilities almost always ready.

I don't have thunderstrike to confirm, however if the Chain lightning effect will "shock" enemies then it would be worth running the crippling blows passive to put enemies to sleep with weaken->shock.

Run the moon axe it has better effects on it and you can ditch horn of valor for payback strike

CALIBAN!!!!!

Lol, sorry, thats the best one handed weapon that I have.

I'd personally say use the Axe, I believe TS is single target, and on warriors AOE is just better. But TS is perfect for the next time they have a mace weekend challenge, if they ever have one again. Though I'm never gonna knock having CL on hit, in campaign, I'm running an elven archer with guard on hit on my bow and on my chest a 10% chance for CL at 75% damage, gods, if I could have both on the bow I'd call it Thunderguard!!!!
