Odd, I thought it was painfully obvious that Amelia's alt is Saboteur-6.

 

 

Word on the street is that he received a weekend ban.  Unclear as to why.  

 

Full Disclosure: I am an ardent fan of Penguin and #FreePenguin.  But at the rate these threads devolve into "apologist"/"toxic" (translation: hopeful/frustrated fans of the same game/franchise, respectively), I invite everyone to practice the response that will, in the long run, benefit our mental health the most if we're to have any hope of sticking around long enough to enjoy what DAMP might become.  Do it with me now:

As far as I know there's no rule that says talking about bans is prohibited, but since a lot of people seem to have been banned recently just for speaking their mind... bring it on BW.

 

There is such a prohibition, actually. It came up a few times on the ME3MP forum.

For those wondering about the ban reasons, here they are:

 

Wonder if we should start a #BringItEAWare hash tag since we have a heavy handed person running the ban hammer this weekend.  Its ok I will just run with my sig as it is.  Should get the point across.

WTF did he say to get banned?  I mean seriously banning a crazy person isn't cool.  That is a disability and would probably fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act.....I'm super cereal here.  This stuff is getting out of hand with the bans this weekend.  I would like the previous two posters but EAWare would probably take that as an endorsement from me that they are doing the right thing by taking out anyone who dares to disagree with them.

 

I thought we ended this stuff back in 7/5/1945?

What? I'm...thinking you're not clear on what's covered in the ADA. Forum banning doesn't fall in there. Anywhere. For any reason. At all.

The reason many of them were banned was because they were jerks who berated not only BW but also other players (or their commentary). PF however had a legitimate gripe plus he is a contributing member to BSN. Certain portions of his follow-thru is what got him into trouble. I've broken every BSN rule there is and I'm pretty sure have been on the short-list a time or two. I just don't go pressing my luck unnecessarily. How you fight is as important as which battles you pick.

I'm also thinking you are unclear what the definition of a joke is.  From Webster's (it's a dictionary just so you know):

Oh, thank god. I'll admit to it going over my head then. It's a better thought than someone actually being ignorant enough to use it as an argument against banning policies on a privately operately web site.

I will do that too but only if they get that way with me, well except for the dev who shall not be named, but that's a special case for me.

Yes he did as do many of us with the way EAWare has been with the fans and in letting their employees post, from home under their work account when they "are doing this on their own time and not as an employee" when doing so gives a certain amount of credibility to the fact they are representing EAWare in what they say.  Several people have said if they had treated customers the way that has happened here, while using their work account, then though would be out of a job .

 

Now in regards to the statement about his follow thoughts, unless you saw something that I did not (which is entirely possible as I don't read every post on every thread) what I did see what him posting a video illustrating the level of EAWares level of customer "service".  At no time did I see, in the thread that got locked with his video in it, him do anything that should have resulted in a ban.  Granted I am not going to read 17 pages again just to verify that statement but I am pretty sure I would have remembered it.  So far the only thing I would say is that he posted a video in which he swore.  When BWEAmelia replied she did nothing but throw fuel on an already smoldering community.  What do you expect to have happened?  Her calling someone a "villain" who has done what he has done for the community was uncalled for.

 

That having been said if he was in the wrong, and I missed whatever he had said, then you are right and he deserves what he got.  Anyway you know my belief on this matter so I won't keep going on this part.

Careful there because that may give them a reason to start looking in case the ban hammer quota hasn't been filled yet for the weekend.  You might just be pressing your luck with that statement

Can you blame them for locking the thread ?

 

Half of it was angry people rambling about EA is devil, Bioware sucks, they have no control over their employees, a non stop pitch forking of words from an employee extremely blown out of proportion. If I recall right some people than started blaming Dice and the stupid frostbite engine. People that said calm down were called Bioware fanboys or something like that. And it finally turn into the lawyer fiasco debate on  who is real lawyer and not. Who is accountable for this mess etc....

 

(Go read every page, most of the posts were just angry people rambling not event stating why they thing Bioware sux.)

 

It might have started in the right direction but quickly became a angry mob rant post.

 

When peaceful protest turns violent because of a few rotten apple , the police disperse everyone and stops the protest. (I'm guessing Bioware did the same thing before it got even more out of hand).

 

If they really wanted to hide or censor it, they would have deleted the entire topic. Its still there for everyone to read.

 

If its true then its true.  Doesn't bioware suck?  Didn't they release a half assed broken beta and charged fans full retail price to be beta testers and its STILL not fixed?  Is that something a good dev that cares about their customers would do?

 

Calling a piece of crap a piece of crap isn't a bad thing.  At least to normal people.

 

Also...deleting that thread would have been a stupid Idea.  People would have just moved to youtube and eventually fan made forum sites where they have ZERO power over what is said and goes on.  Censorship would really hurt them in the long run and cut down on traffic here.

And you are right there.  It's always good to pick your fights but some fights are worth fighting. It's all about how you execute it, not about whether you can live with the consequences.
