Dragons are supposed to be rare in Thedas. Can't have thousands of them popping up.

They could add lore: Each Dragon is a guardian of an old Elvhen god and thus they regenerate after some time, in game could be daily or something like that.

I'm not into that, just had the idea.

How about male dragons? We haven't seen them in the game besides those small wyverns. The male dragons are described to be limited to the grounds, can't fly and I believe they are a bit smaller yes? My other suggestion would be to allow the dragonlings or wyverns to drop some dragon blood and dragon scales, but in smaller proportions than the dragons.

Dragonlings do drop dragon's blood. Along with their own teeth and scales ( T1 ). There's no reason lore or design wise for Dragonlings to be dropping T4 high dragon components. Wyverns as well drop their own scales and mats ( which are T3 ). Making a common weak enemy drop the best mats in the game would be pretty unbalanced.

Drakes would make more sense but they rarely ever leave the high dragon's nest and while there should be a few around I can't imagine there's a bunch of them yet either with dragons just making a comeback. Drakes only live 1/10th as long as high drakes and have pretty ****** poor life expectancy in general ( as they'll die defending the nest or from killing each other to see who gets to shack up with big momma on any given day. ). Its very unlikely you'd see a drake separately from a high dragon as they live their whole lives in service to The Queen™.

We haven't really seen a true high dragon nest as of yet though. Hopefully in some DLC we'll get some nests and some drakes to go with them.

Instead of respawning dragons, the world could generate new dragons with new names every few hours. It would be a mission appearing on the war table, you'd send scouts to locate it and once they do, you kill it.

Dragons in skyrim are way cooler. They reign over the human race. Humans fear them. They're unkillable, except to the dragon born. Who can absorb their souls so they don't come back. Dragons in skyrim make dragons in DRAGON age look like puppies. Skyrim dragons are fearsome creature that hunt and kill everything. There vast numbers make them virtually unstoppable. If you're going to put the word dragon in the title of the game, the least you could do is make it about dragons -_-

Uhhh what? Elven gods makes you "regenerate" after you have been killed, now?

I played this game expecting it to be about dragons. I wanted to be afraid of them. I wanted to go around hoping I don't run into dragons. I'm not afraid to fight them at all. They don't have that sane aspect to them that skyrim dragons do. Skyrim dragons go out to hunt and kill you. Dragon Age dragons stay at their nest always. They never hunt. They never move. They're just there. So dragons just aren't a very fearsome creature.

People who think that there shouldn't any sort of dragon spawning system probably complain about not having enough dragon crafting materials.

Yeah, respawning dragons would break the immersion / lore / whatever, while spawning templars / bears / etc. right in your face out of thin air when you are literally just looting the group before them is completely fine :D Joking aside, while I wouldn't like to see the exactly same 10 dragons again, because High Dragons indeed are supposed to be rare creatures, I am sure BioWare could come up with something (if they wanted to) - like lesser versions of them, male ones (still challenging tho), etc. etc.

And I bet this is (at least partially) about limited crafting materials, it is one of the reasons I would love to fight them some more.

But this is not gonna happen, we might see one or two more dragons in future DLCs, but that is it, BioWare simply won't bother with this. Honestly, I still love them, still love their games and I think they made some of the best ones ever, but when it comes to adding features to existing games or you know, actually patching stuff that are broken, they are one of the worst studios out there.

And that is why skyrim will ALWAYS be better than Dragon Age: Inquisition.

They're two different games with different takes in dragons. It sucks that you were expecting to fight dragons left and right, but it's how they built their world: dragons are rare creatures that were hunted to the brink of extinction and are making a comeback. They're like whales. Fire breathing, scaley, winged whales. With claws.

They really shouldn't have named it DRAGON age. Because it's not the age of dragons. It's the age of humans. It's should be renamed to human age: Inquisition.

The name Dragon Age is alright and the dragons in DAI are alright. They provide a challenge in the mid game (which those in DAO failed to do) but are not a 20 minutes long boring fight (High Dragon in DA2). And since you brought up Skyrim (and I love that game, you can mod it to perfection), the game is basically about 2 things - civil war and dragons - and both suck ass, one is broken as hell and the other one is kinda meh after a while, for crying out loud, my horse was tanking dragons all day long and survived.

Clearly you don't play on legendary. The legendary dragons will one hit you if you aren't using any glitches and are playing legit.

Yeah, I am not playing Skyrim on the highest difficulty, I rather use mods that make the enemies smarter than just flat out increase their dmg and HP to ridiculous numbers (once was enough in DA2, still remember that half an hour fight with Arishok running around pillars), but that is kinda not the topic of this discussion and as eyezonlyii pointed out, DAI and Skyrim are two different games, though similar in some aspects (more than ever before).

I still expected this games dragon system to be amazing. The fights are incredibly fun, but once they're all dead that's it. Quite poopy

Reminds me of the Legendary Ships in Black Flag. Once you beat them all you feel accomplished for about 5 seconds and then you wish you could have more...

Yeah. I just really want to see more dragons spawning. Obviously not the same named dragons, just dragons. Always different element of attack, abilities, and level.
