Like when Felix mentions 'the southern mages' I'm like......I feel like we shoul be the northern countries........
Maybe it's the climate... I feel counties like Antiva, or Rivain shoul be 'south' while nations like Fereldan shoul be northern
What about the east and west? No love for them?
Anyway its political/religious. They're talking about the Orlesian Chantry and Imperial Chantry.
So everywhere outside of Tevinter is esentially the south, besides the Qunari...who are nothing. Because Rivain, Antiva, Anderfels etc. all follow the southern (Orlesian Chantry)

Ferelden is in a posiotion somewhat akin to South Africa more than England.
The countries we know in Thedas lie in that planets southern hemisphere. That's why it got colder when you went further south into the Korcari Wilds. The Northern countries like Antiva and Tevinter are likely going to have a lot more deserts and tropics.
Think of it this way. Orlis and frelden is where the most southern part of south america is. Everything else is were central america and the south part of north america is.
Yeah, it takes me a bit to get used to the whole "cold to the south thing." It's not a common thing in fantasy worlds. It does make for a bit of a change though, and that's never bad.
I do kinda want to see what the whole of Thedas ACTUALLY looks like. Get a bit of a scope of the tiny little corner we've spent three games in now.
What we have been shown is the whole of Thedas. Thedas is the lands that Ancient Tevinter held and the surrounding areas.
It is not the name of the planet, they do not have a name for that and don't think about planets or space, it is just the world they live in.
They don't have a name for the other places since they've never been outside Thedas, and Qunari are not a sharing bunch.

But yeah, assuming the world Thedas is on works like Earth, the continent of Thedas is in the southern hemisphere.

Like... North= Tevinter Imperium, Par Vollen.......Anderfels South= Fereldan, Orlais, Antiva, Rivain?
Take a map of Europe.
Then turn it upside down, but imagine the north is still the top of the page and the south is the bottom of the page.

Edit: Also, it is in the southern hemisphere, so the more north you go, the closer to the equator you get.

World of Thedas has a map of the continent of Thedas.
Yeah, Ferelden is tiny. Orlais is big in comparison, but is still a pretty small portion of Thedas overall.
