Philippa is hawt. Hopefully Geralt can set her straight in the third game.
Isn't she eyeless now? Can't say I find that terribly attractive myself.

Sorceresses can regrow them in the Witcher universe IIRC.
I've played Final Fantasy VII with my brother for a few hours and it seems this game is about blowing up reactors with cool gameplay and characters. I hope there is more than that to this game otherwise it sucks!
best thing about it so far:

Tifa embodies two of my favorite things about FF7.

And contrary to the previous users' assertion, neither she or Sile are evil.
That statement is wrong in so many ways
She should be in her late 30s / early 40s. Am I right?
Still good. Most women look good till 45, then they get old-ugly.
Actually, Yennefer is canonically over 100. Geralt is pretty much ok with that
League of Legends.
I have a group of guys I've been playing mmos with for 10+ years. We started EQ together and have bounced from game to game together ever since. We love to group, run raids and pvp our little hearts out. Usually when someone says 'hey, check this game out' we all tend to dog pile on it, so when one of them started getting heavily into LoL we all followed suit.
Anyway, I bounced out of there within less than a month, not because it's the worst game out there, but because it tends to bring out the worst in people. I've seen my fair share of drama during my years as an mmo lover, but this was unreal. Every single time we would play a shouting match would break out on TeamSpeak and/or someone would rage quit right in the middle of a match. And I'm not being overly dramatic either - it got real bad, real fast. It was a toxic mix of testosterone, poorly planned matches and larger-than-life egos.

Also, WItcher. WOrst fanbase ever. Same mysogony complaints, get anrgy taunting/homophobic slurs/ weird dream logic. First game has literal sex cards, and the 2nd has terrible female characters. They are A)Kidnapped and worthless, B)Won't have sex with you and evil, C)Randomly has sex with you, D)Stuffed into the Fridge, or E)Is a mccguffin. Not ok Cdredproject! That said they do do dlc and drm right.
Probably 1 of the biggest reasons i couldn't get into TW series apart from the sexual double standard is how bad some of its fanbase is, especially the more rabid & unpleasant fans who go to the extreme when hating on everything Bioware does, some of the personal attacks ive seen were way out of order ![]()

Yeah, definitely annoyed me with the idiotic insults. Simply criticizing sexist behavior does not make you a mysandrist, ugh. The locked Witcher 3 thread was escpecially bad. The rempant homophobia in the two games in also revolting to me as well. Dethmold gets castrated in front of his lover, and Phillipa has her eyes gouged out. It is a shame though. THe writing is fantastic when it doesn't try to be so edgy, or ignorant
I do enjoy the Witcher but I really hate the character writing. I can't think of a single well written character in those games. I can't even remember most of them.

I thought some of the kings were interesting, like Foltest. On the other hand, I think Dandelion and Zoltan are about as bland as it gets.

I don't see a problem with those scenes.
I mean what did you expect Roche to do to Dethmold after what happened to the blue stripes? The same goes for Philipa. What should Radovid have done? Hug her?
Also, those characters didn't get castrated/eyes gouged out because of their sexuality.

You really shouldn't let your opinions on things be affected by it having fans on the internet who act like dicks; if I did that, I wouldn't like... well, anything.

The kings were alright but we didn't really spend enough time around them to get a grasp of their characters. The lore around some of them is incredibly interesting though but most of it never really got touched on outside of journal entries and passing comments.
They definitely can be over the top sometimes. That's what stopped me initially too. But the Witcher games are actually pretty good, even if it has some rabid fanboys.
I went through that myself. It took me a long time to want to give those games a try in the interest of fair criticism. I have yet to play either, but they are now on my list of games to get around to someday. My personal experiences with that fandom taught me a valuable lesson in that sometimes, the gain in potentially interesting discussion is not worth the cost in emotional well being. I try to avoid any lions' dens these days.

I thought it was locked because some people went in the thread specifically to tell everyone how much the Witcher sucks and throw around accusations that Witcher fans are unfairly criticizing the Dragon Age series? Are Witcher fans really that bad?
Also Dethmold was not castrated for being a homosexual and Phillipa did not have her eyes gouged out for being a lesbian, the mere act of violence against a character that just happens to be gay does make something homophobic as there are plenty of violent acts committed against straight people as well in the games.

Just for comparisons sake what do you consider to be a well written character and why? Personally I felt the character writing in the Witcher (or at least the Witcher 2) was top notch, their actions and motivations make sense and their characterizations go far deeper than mere stereotypes, while some of the characters may not be as likable and in some cases down right detestable you at least understand why they are in their position and how they manage to hold it. There are no black or white characters in the Witcher, you wont see one group embodying everything that is noble and the other embodying everything you should despise, they each have their flaws yet even the most detestable character has their admirable qualities.

It's a bit difficult to describe such things but I guess my problem with the characters is they don't feel like people. They have beliefs and their actions revolve around said beliefs but that's it. They lack anything that makes them feel unique I guess.

Give me a single good and redeeming quality for Dethmold, Loredo, or Wild Hunt. THere are also many simly black and white characters. Roche and Ves are incredibly moral characters, that while having prejeduices, ultimately work for what they believe to be right.
Just give me an example of what you consider to be a well written character, what is it about them that makes them feel like a real character? Is it their actions? Their motivations? Their beliefs? Their backstory? Personality?
