Is the Nightmare Demon possibly a demon lord and rules a section of the fade that he controls? Solas did say something about this being a zone of the fade he controls and being almost as old as desire. So does that mean there are more demon lords and they each have a zone in the fade that is theres and desire being the eldest of the possible demon lords. Nightmare demon does call that section his home so his rule is there. That would make since as to why the inquisitor plus hawke and warden ally and current party had no chance in defeating him because he could be a demon lord. I can see other demon lords that feed off there respect of sins and emotions. So the Desire demon lord would look differently then a normal desire demon. And where does the forbidden ones fit in to the nightmare demon? There names carry the most weight as far as demons go in this series. They carry themselves above most demons it seems.

There are regions of the Fade that are controlled by various demons. You encounter that in DA:O as well during the Mage Tower quest.
